  1. I like your unique style. It's like New School Western.
  2. Very nice stuff, thanks for sharing.
  3. Good question. I would like to know the answer to myself.
  4. I see. I would practice on some scrap to see how to properly case it, and try out your stamping. That way you can get valuable experience, and not mess up the piece you are working on. Practice makes perfect, and it is a continuing educational process. LOL.
  5. Looks ok for a first attempt. Did you case the leather before you used the stamps? The impression is faint like you didn't.
  6. Looks like a winner to me.
  7. Nice looking stuff. I need to invest in some of those. But I don't do Facebook.
  8. I used to see guys do that all the time at tire shops. I guess it worked or they wouldn't do it. I don't know if I trust it on a leather piece that I have spent hours on.
  9. There is an oxalic acid product called wood bleach that's much cheaper than bar keepers friend. I saw it at Ace Hardware.
  10. Those are cool. How do you do the smooth background stamping?
  11. I like that idea. May have to see how much you can build it up.
  12. Never dealt with a government auction before. It is on an AFB.
  13. I understand all that, but there are some questions that have open ended answers or many different opinions. Sometimes questions need new answers. By the way which sewing machine should I buy to sew leather? lol. Just joking. I read, and read, and read the stuff here, but it is a lot of info to intake. I guess I asked a stupid question the other day in a post, because I got no answer. I was trying to make conversation, but learn at the same time. I later found the answer on my own.but if that person would have at least told me the name of what I was asking about, it would have made it a lot easier to find the info. It's hard to find something when you don't know the name of it. It's easy when you get so good at what you do, and forget how it is to be a beginner. I do it too, I have to teach things often in my daily job. What I take for granted as easy, is not for other people, and some never get it at all.
  14. Well. Very imaginative. But I will have a sandwich.
  15. Morning fellas. I am new to this board as far as posting numbers are concerned. I see Dwight's point about not wanting to see all those pictures. But if the rules of the forum aren't being broken, what can you do. I see TomG's point. I am on a guitar forum and we see the same questions over and over being asked. What do you do? Being a new guy here I am sure I am going to ask something that will make the forum veteran's here think I am stupid. You just got to remember you were new once. As much as learning is important, reaching out and teaching is even more so. I hope 2- 3 years from now I will have some sort of standing with this place. One has to earn it first, just like anywhere else. Have a nice day all.
  16. Been there done that many times. Zero fun.
  17. I am looking at taking some SS tattoo tube grips I have and modifying them to hold stamping tools to provide a larger handle for easier gripping. I notice the smaller handle ones hurt more to grip.
  18. I too work construction. Tooling hurts me if I do it any extended time. I take lots of breaks. I push myself till my hand goes numb sometimes. No pain no gain, lol. I guess????
  19. I know right, lol. They are sharp.
  20. Amazing work. Would love to know how to do the lacing on the edges.
  21. I am still learning myself. I recently started using Fiebing's Aussie leather conditioner and I like it. I have used EVOO, but it didn't seem to do anything special.
  22. If it's the area on the front of the flap that I am seeing as the damaged part/ I might would make another piece of leather with a design as a patch and sew it over the area. Make it look like a natural design. If I am seeing the problem right to begin with.
  23. Building memories with the children is what it is all about.
