  1. Just one small thing, besides the stitch line which I know you are working on, the edges of the leather needed burnishing before fitting. (Something I am trying to get my head around). Overall, a good job and I bet you learned heaps from this project. Onwards and upwards from here.
  2. I got my stamps and pattern book download and CD because I asked for a CD, and I must say the stamps look better than excellent. The detail is amazing and the stamps are well worth what I paid. I am certainly planning to buy more, especially the animal stamps ... maybe a kangaroo if one jumps out at me! (See what I did there? lol)
  3. No answer on shipping cost to Australia?
  4. Jason, How did you go with the cost for postage to Australia?
  5. I have seen on this site, a couple of jigs to line-up stamps. One was made out of acrylic/Perspex or similar. I am sure it was adjustable to take any size stamps. The second jig was made by one of the firefighters on this site. He used it to stamp letters on a curve. As far as I can remember, both worked really well.
  6. Hi there, Can you ship to Perth, Australia? Do you have any idea of the cost of shipping for 1 belly, 3 bellies, 5 bellies or maybe 10 bellies? After that, I am thinking shipping will be waaay high. (If its not already absurd for 1).
  7. Hi there, Do you have an idea of the shipping to Perth, Australia?
  8. OK, thanx for your efforts.

Fit or not - it definitely worked! You did a great job. I am certain she will be proud to own it.

WOW ... just WOW! Is the lettering carved or just painted on the surface? Maybe stencilled? How did you get the sizing if she did not get to try it on as you developed it? Great job any which way.
  11. I totally agree with this sentiment. On the other hand, if the OP is willing to pay the price asked for by the craftsman, (besides saying the work is their own) I believe the purchaser can do whatever they like with the goods once payment has been made.
  12. Hi there Handstitched, There are a few of us West Aussies on here. I have met a few in person and several that I have only spoken to by message or read their posts.
  13. Can I get a copy of your catalogue thanx.
  14. PM sent
  15. The widest part of the regular sized pattern is 229mm (9.012") long by 221mm (8.708") wide. The larger case is 262mm (10.315") long by 255mm (10.039") wide. Maybe I can use some thin cardboard (cereal packet stuff) to make a test piece.
  16. Thank you very much for posting your patterns. I am hoping to try out a few different techniques, machine sewing v's hand sewing, lined v's unlined, different dying and edging finishes. I printed these patterns out on A3 paper at 100%. Does that mean they are the size that the leather needs to be? The patterns look enormous.
  17. I like the shape and that's a nice dye-job. What's the knife like? the handle looks handmade, is the knife your design?
  18. Hmmm ... very interesting comparison. I wait with bated breath for the adjudications of the masses!
  19. Hi there Constabulary, Any further information regarding shipping charges to Australia post code 6168?
  20. When you dip-dye as mentioned, can you pour the mix into a spare bottle and reuse it more than once? Can you add more dye and/or reducer later, if you need a larger quantity than you have saved? I like the colour. Apologies for the thread hijack.
  21. To catch the awl or needle coming through the leather, I use a cork block that is about 3 inches long by one and a half inches thick and 2 inches wide. Its a painters sanding block. Its so much better than using a wine cork, although ... not as good obtaining it! Only one "stab-incident" so far ... and that was because I put my cork block aside for a moment!
  22. Do you have any idea of the cost to ship the Adler 37-7 to Australia? Thank you for looking after old iron.
  23. I have thought about making one or repairing the broken one, but "buying off the rack" is my preferred option.
  24. I am still chasing a Take Up Lever for my chainstitch, feed-off-the-arm machine. Does anybody have one the same as pictured (hopefully not in 2 pieces)!
  25. I have some old hand plane blades that I am hoping to repurpose as skiving knives. If they work well on timber, I am hoping they will work REALLY well on leather! Does anybody have an opinion on this idea?
