  1. Yes, I should have been more diligent and mentioned that in my original post. Ah, so really I'd have to have a different machine just for this purpose. I'll have to do some research and see if I can budget in a post bed machine at some point. I see Toledo has a post bed machine but over my budget right now. I also need to do a little research to see if I want a single or double needle machine. Seems like I could make a host of other things I've wanted to do. I'll have to research what triple transport means. Thank you. @Constabulary and @Gregg From Keystone SewingThanks. I think I'll look into getting one of those attachments because I could use that in another type of application I had been thinking about and that attachment would be perfect.
  2. Well, until you are working on a u-shape. Then it's not so simple as just overlapping and sewing so that the sewing arm would not get in the way of the gusset.
  3. I'm making handbags right now and saw a video showing a machine that sewed an overlapping seam. Instead of matching wrong sides or right sides depending on what you're doing the seam is lapped and stitched by machine. I have a Cowboy CB3200 and a Consew P1206RB. Wondering if anyone knows of an attachment that might do an overlapping seam or if either of these machines will do that and I just can't figure out how to do it.
  4. Sorry I've been away from home for a few days. The Zonesun take about 9 x 6 inches on my bench. It is most definitely worth it for the precision. Saves tons of time and mistakes. The ZS-110 has a sliding bench so the piece to be engraved can be placed according to measurement and then slid in to do the engraving.
  5. Welcome! You'll find lots of answers here to questions already asked but if you don't find a question already answered the group here is great at jumping in to help.
  6. Oregon voted and won against a sales tax but we still have to do taxes for the other states who voted for it. Such is life - death and taxes, no way around either.
  7. I started the same way. My next purchase was one of the big hand-held hot foil stamping machines. That went a little better than the soldering iron but it had its own challenges. Because of the big base on it I couldn't see well where to set the stamp and hold the thing straight up and down and apply consistent pressure at the same time. So I practiced for a bit, came to the conclusion that I would need a stationary machine. Did the research and realized I would need to stay on the less expensive end (by comparison to other machines) and got the Zonesun. Still practicing with it.
  8. I purchased a Zonesun on Etsy. The gal (Nadia) gives excellent customer service, the machine works great, and the font sets she sells comes with 1 upper case, 1 lower case, 20 symbols, and 1 number set. That still doesn't cut it for names that have three of the same letter like the name 'Lilly'. I got 6mm letters but the letters sets can be made in other sizes too. The machine I got came with one set and she substituted the lower case for upper case so I at least had two of each letter in upper case. I don't see Zonesuntech on Etsy today in a quick search which makes me a little nervous but they do have a website. I haven't used it a ton because I'm still learning about heat, foil, and how the different leathers take the hot foil or just hot stamping without the foil. Don't want to try it on a good project until I'm confident I'm not going to mess it up.
  9. Love the gator and veg tan combo. Colors look really nice together.
  10. I get stuff from SLC, ahkwok buckles, Tandy, Gold Star Tool and probably a couple other places I can't think of right now.
  11. Welcome. That is some nice looking leather work.
  12. That is beautiful! What a great idea. I like it. I really like the floral.

Very nice and a great idea. Lots of planning and hard work and it turned out great.
  14. Great idea. I would probably have used a snap strap to make it easier to remove the fob.
  15. Welcome Squid61! This is the place to be to learn. Everyone is very helpful around here.
  16. I don't know what we're going to do about it but I do know it is just another batch of red tape that will drive some small businesses out. Too much paper work, too many different rules and rates in the different states and counties/cities within the states....frustrating to say the least.
  17. @YinTx Received the craftaids today. They are excellent! Thank you!
  18. This one says it's a S&W J FRAME 2". http://www.bluegunstore.com/SandWJFRAME2.aspx I didn't see anything on that page that mentioned 60LS and since it's .125" shorter probably not the exact same model. I've purchased from them before and was satisfied with all my purchases with them. Maybe you could ask them about that model and if they could make it.
  19. Not sure if any of these will help or if these are any good. I don't have any experience with the following shop either. CDWPlus - http://cdwplus.com/singleDBB.html (about the middle of the page are 1 1/2 inch)
  20. @YinTx Thanks! I have another in the works using the same materials with a different internal configuration so I'll lighten up on pulling the thread through the top side and see if that helps with the holes.
  21. Thank you. I used KS Blade pricking irons. I used .6 thread and I probably should have used .8 or maybe even size 1 although I have a suspicion #1 would have been to thick. And you caught me - I did not roll or hammer the stitching when I finished.
  22. Heh! Rocky Mountain Leather: https://www.rmleathersupply.com/ I also get my Tiger thread from there which this wallet was stitched with.
