i have three generators luckily i haven't had to use them here at home. The oldest is really cool. Its an old Korean war vintage army generator made for radio ops. 600 watts lol. but its as quiet as a mouse.

i just noticed that metal strap on your bike under the bottle holder that you are using to tie off on. You can easily sew it or rivet it to the bottle holder with a small strap and problem solved. Maybe get two one for top and bottom

its a great first try. Often designing takes a few tries to get prefect but I agree it works and doesn't look bad at all. That old leather has an awesome patina.

metal reacts with veg tan and stains it black. The metal was wet or the wallet was wet. Vinegaroon, a concoction of vinegar and metal has been used for ages to turn leather coal black.

lol i have one and wear it once in a while on very special occasions. My mom and dad both came from ranching families and dad wore one all his life, they were both tried and true cowboy and girl from Wyoming homesteads. I always figured a cowboy hat had to be earned somehow, riding for cattle with snow blowing down your back or at the least a few years of the work and a few broken bones , maybe a hitch in my giddy up its a hard rough life. I never really felt i earned that right, i have rode a few horses bucked a few bales, fed a few winters. and bellied up to the bar many times. lol however so i do occasionally, my daily is an old dirty baseball style with the flag on it and i need a new one. Dad bought a new straw every spring and wore his old one for fishing, he usually tore the brim off fanning the fire at fish camp every summer on the fourth of July. I think i may buy a straw hat this spring.

great way to end a career IMO you are a lucky man wore out or not lol. Yes i live in a very touristy part of the world and am also retired. If i wanted i 'm sure i could become a 24/7 leather worker also. especially in the summer lol with Yellowstone folks, Sturgis folks and great divide walkers, bicyclers, and truckers all going through my town. If this inflation doesn't slow i may have to be going for it though. I've been thinking about fixing up my old sheep wagon and using it as an eye catcher down at the local parking lot where all the food wagons set up. They pull in a bunch of folks all day long. and an old wagon would go right along with some leather, maybe even wear a cowboy hat lol.

yes its hard to remake a diecut and machine sewn 2 minute sheath( most knives come with) with quality leather, welt, and hand sewing and all the rest of the work that goes into it and make money. I fully explain the difference before hand as well as showing the finished product next to the original when they pick it up. I've always made a good profit, its quality leather but these small things are strap ends, cut offs.

thank you yes i love old steel too. I collect knives somewhat, never the new ones they just don't interest me. The black knife the 70+ customer has had since a kid, won it a carnival. I cleaned it up and polished the brass and handle a bit. When he pulled it out of sheath and saw it he about teared up on me. lol you could just see how much he loved that old carnival knife, to anyone else it wouldn't be worth a new sheath. That's why i do these for people because these old knives become a very personal and cherished item. What we do as craftsmen means more than making a buck sometimes.

the roux is about the first thing i taught my kids to make. It will make everything from breakfast to dessert lol. Speaking of sweets yesterday my wife picked our rhubarb and made an awesome sauce to go over ice cream, it is definitely spring here now. My little town is on Interstate 80 which is one of the main roads across our nation. So we get many different car clubs ,cross country races, and the liek coming thru, i have seen everything from Miss budweiser racing boat to a reenactment of the first motorized military trip across the nation in vehicles. i ve made one book for my daughter much larger but still. I have a book on it somewhere lol. The paper is usually folded and sewn together at the seam in bunches of about three to 5 full sheets making six pages to ten. the stitch holes being about 1/2 " apart. I made my inner liner out of wood and binded it like they did years ago with leather straps & leather cover and the whole bit. But that was many years ago! on something that small i would sew the pages together along with an outer piece of thin ( liner) leather then glue that thin liner leather to the inside of the outer cover piece and sew the edges.

lol kind of like ebay you have to look at how many they have sold at that price. A high end gun shop could pull that price maybe for your item, clientele has some spendable cash there. A gun show where you are surrounded with bargain prices and bargain sized spendable cash then not so much.

That is one nice rig for sure. I know a lot of folk love cartridge loops on their gun stuff, my personal experience with loop holders has been that i lose shells during some of my more physically demanding hunting expeditions. the stock covers are the worst for losing shells.

here in Wyoming i think about 30 / 35 bucks. more if its highly tooled or custom work. Your question makes me think? My daughter is a tattoo artist and she prices design by the square inch, its the common way. Does anyone here sell custom tooling by the square inch? Seems it may be a good way to estimate pricing for design work on leather also.

Those are awesome!! I love old iron !! Do they have tractor parades over there? we have one yearly. I made mac an cheese for my wife on mother day its her favorite. I start with a basic roux then milk, cheddar cheese, this time i used sweet Italian sausage, a taste of garlic, large size macaroni's, Topped with panko bread and parmesan cheese and baked golden brown. I even liked it. Once long long long ago i had this job that only paid monthly, well one time after getting my check i went to partying some at the local pub. Next day i only had enough for rent lol. Ate very cheap boxed mac and cheese and fried egg sandwichs for a month straight. I still like a good fried egg sandwich but boxed mac n cheese just doesn't sound good anymore lol.
