your stitching makes it look much better!! Don't rush slow down and enjoy the process of learning and creating. A welt in a sheath is a strip of leather put between the outer two pieces that protects the stitching from being cut by the blade. Usually about a 1/4" to 3/8" wide. running the length of the blade. you glue it between the two outer pieces along the edge then sew through it

oh man that sucks But you caught it before it ruined anything else i hope, still more work and replacing that oil wont be cheap any more. Very cool about the program we don't have it over here but i sounds like a neat program, i would watch it. My dad was in a show once, "In Search Of" with Leonard Nimoy as the host. It was about Butch Cassidy who frequented the little community my family settled in. I have a copy, its great to see him in it but its hard at the same time he passed in 89. We got our first snow in the high country this week, leaves will be falling soon. We are busy as bees getting ready its canning season and hunting/butchering season, all to get ready for a long cold winter lol. I got to till in the garden plot too, we left it fallow this year but next year it will be going strong, my bunnies will fertilize the heck out things lol, i must have half a ton of pellets.

my two cents, its a completely functional item as it is I don't believe a rivet will do any harm to a properly tempered blade but they don't look that good IMO. If you want to make it prettier lose the rivets add the welt and sew it nice and straight, sand or cut the edges nice and straight to match your sewing then burnish and finish.

My mom sold Avon for years it was a good business for her, she was the only one in a little ranching community of about 500 max and no stores to speak of. she was top saleslady in her district for several years in a row because she had a regular clientele of women that had no where to spend money lol and she made tons of money. UPS would have to bring a large truck just to deliver her stuff and i have seen her set for days unpacking and getting her cosmetics and other junk ready to deliver. I got a brand new Avon collectable beer stein every Christmas lol. She is the only person i have ever heard of making enough money doing it to pay the bills.

they don't need much padding so be careful or you will make so thick it does hit the string every time lol. They just to keep the string away from the sensitive skin and the shirt sleeve out of the way. thats good !! meet some folks get some exercise and shooting is very relaxing, takes your mind off everything else.

i have a trigger too for my compound bows. they are so short limbed nowadays using your fingers is impossible so using one is a must. they clip onto a string loop installed on the string above and below the knocking point. That and the 80% let off and sights and arrow rests allows for very accurate shooting of heavier weight bows. even i could robin hood an arrow almost every time i shot a round, 10 bucks down the drain lol. I still love the old recurve the best.

Interesting indeed, We lose so more than we gain sometimes when we look for a better (mousetrap) solution to do what our ancients did. I have heard something similar could be done with the three finger under method i tried it for awhile but by the time i learned it i couldn't get to the point of doing it naturally while hunting. All my archery skills were self taught back when archery wasn't a thing in my area. Most landowners at the time wouldn't let me hunt with a bow because they didn't think it would kill a deer lol. I was one of a handful of people in the county that shot or hunted with a bow, due to that i had to learn to make my arrows and strings. Would have loved to talk to a pro.

another way to pull the string, it was done by hooking the string under the arrow with your thumb only then kind of holding your thumb tip with your first finger. Kind of like shooting a marble if you've ever done that. The Romans for one used that method and used a ring to hold the pressure off of the skin hence a thumb ring. i would love to own a real English yew longbow.

traditional English longbows dont have a rest as Fred said, the left or right problem is taken care of by holding the bow at an angle so the arrow is cast up instead of left or right. Even bows with a rest will shoot left or right because the arrow is still off center a bit if held straight up. I am left eye dominant so i shoot left but i'm right handed. Learned to shoot with a right handed recurve bow but when i bought my first compound it was a lefty I found i was much more accurate left but can shoot either. Always wanted to try a thumb ring i saw yesterday they make some out of leather i may just make one.
