I wish you was closer to me. I got a 18x36 or a 18x24 slab a 1.5" thick I would give you.

Thanks. I thought earlier I had ruined all my nice work. I tried a new Fiebings Saddle tan dye & my leather turned black & kinda splotchy. I was freaking out at 1st, but it is going to be a beautiful color once dry. So far it is lightening up & the splotches are slowly disappearing.

Thanks TomE. Yeah I have kinda been slacking here lately. I am hoping at some point I can make some horse tack as nice as the stuff you make TomE.

Ridgeback beat me to it. But I was also going to recommend Conceria Walpier Buttero in Chestnut.. It is some very nice leather & would be great for that.

Thanks. Yeah I have been meaning to use Don's quilted technique on a project.

Ok guys. It got the the best of me! Maybe I got carried away. I pebble back grounded around the bass & initials. I then decided to use a tufted diamond in the center. I think it still looks OK. I am happy.

I'm not sure I can draw that. The bass pattern is a tandy special, lol I can't draw. I am thinking about using a pebble back grounder around the bass & initials. Do you think I should put something in the center panel of the wallet? Or just leave it blank? Thanks.

Only thing I am not happy about is my fish was not centered in it's window. Again my fault, cause I tooled the fish, then decided to add a southwest style border to it. Time I background it, it might all blend/flow better together.

Thanks. It is much appreciated. Lol I am really surprised it turned out this good. I improvised on a couple tools I did not have, but close to what it called for.

Guys & gals it has been a while since I have posted anything. Been like a year since I have had a swivel knife in my hand. Boy I'm Rusty! Lmao like I was any good before. This is my very 1st figured carved fish. It's supposed to be a large mouth bass. I am pretty Dang proud of this! I know my friend will like it too! Well how bad is it? I am a long way from being done.

I would do as Ridgeback suggested. I think the reason that strap broke, was because they sewed across the top of the strap above the rivet.

Nice work. They all look great! My favorite 1 is the holster with the coin concho.

Ordered a Cobra Class 26 : Couple questions
DieselTech replied to DieselTech's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks shoepatcher! I appreciate it. I wasn't sure on what the class 26 used. Everybody seems to refer to it as a 341 hybrid machine. -
Nice work. Looks good! The Punisher!

I dip dye with fiebings pro dye. I let my project sit in the dye for 3-5 minutes & get good results. Just make sure if you are dip dying to let your project dry on a perfectly level surface till dry.

I got a test for it coming up. I want to make a tote bag out of some re-tan water Buffalo. It has a real soft hand & kinda stretchy. I think it might struggle on this stuff a bit.

Thanks. I might learn a thing or 2. Plus I find it kinda relaxing watching people sew.

Fourth Time is the Dubitable Charm
DieselTech replied to Mablung's topic in Shoes, Boots, Sandals and Moccassins
Thanks for your feedback on the tandy moccasin pattern pack. I'm glad it is a decent pattern & I got small feet. So it might be a good pattern for me. I just ordered a bunch of tandy pattern packs because they had them for 40% off last week. Lmao I am not sure what I all ordered. -

Better than I probably could do. Heck if you wanted, I bet you could make a wood form to fix/straighten out the pair you are wearing there. I think they look OK, that gives them character. I'll look I might have bought the tandy pattern pack for moccasins. I'll look. -
Guys & gals I was curious if there is any cylinder arm sewing techniques videos out there. Basically I'm looking for videos on how to sew leather projects on a cylinder arm sewing machine. Basically looking for different videos on how users of a cylinder arm sewing machine, manipulate their projects & such when sewing it together. Thanks. Any & all greatly appreciated.

Yeah I should have added that to my comment, that I put it under my slab to reduce noise. Guy will be amazed at how much it helps to tame the noise.

Ordered a Cobra Class 26 : Couple questions
DieselTech replied to DieselTech's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Can anybody tell if the cobra class 26 shares any needle plates & feed dog with any other machine? I am just curious if there is anything available for them. Thanks. -
I see alot of these famous/well experienced leather guys put a cut up cereal box under their slab, lol most of the time it is a beer box thou. Some I have seen put a piece of upolstery leather under their slab. Like 1mm thick.
