I haven't finished anything to show off lately so I thought I'd brag on a few new tools I got from Bruce Johnson Leather Tools. These were always at the lower priority end of my tool buying obsession until I discovered on Facebook that Bruce Johnson is now a dealer for CS Osborne. Concho cutters that actually cut, and dividers I can set and lock. Love 'em! If you need something, and need it quick, check out Bruce's operation at http://www.BruceJohnsonLeather.com

OK, so I purchased a new head knife from an online retailer for C.S.Osborne. Literally the first chance to try it out, while stropping the handle came off in my hand. Contacted the retailer and no warranty. 30 days is all. Yes, I have had the knife for 8 months but never even took it out of the wrapper. My bad I guess for really not doing a complete inspection. Just wanted to inform members to look at what the are buying and inspect. Do not want anyone to spend money on inferior products. I am sure I can fix it, yet. I am sure the steel is quality, I have a lot of other tools from Osborne and never have had a problem.

Where do you guys get your machinery? Things like splitter/skivers, clickers, presses etc.? I keep hearing about the Cowboy and Osborne brands (for example), and I can find their websites, but I can't seem to figure out who really sells the stuff. I'm familiar with the larger retailers like Tandy, Springfield, and Weaver and I've noticed that some of them carry a few of these items. Then I've heard about Solar and Toledo, but they don't seem to list their full ranges online. I'd really like to find a website where I can browse the full range and actually see prices. Does such a creature exist?

Hey guys, I love collecting vintage tools and fall in love with the old designs, but it's always hard to get them in prefect condition. So I choose to make some re- edition ones. I've made some adjustable creasers, but hard to decide whether I should use he original size handle or a bigger one. The Screw is custom-made and being hardened. Please help pointing out, if I'm loosing some detail or the problems which may hurt the usage. Thx!

For all the tool experts here: I often look around at round knives on eBay and elsewhere on the big bad internet, and often see round knives by CS Osborne, and occasionally other makers marked with an X, XX, or XXX. Does anybody have a clue what, if anything, those marks mean?? Bill

Hey everyone! I've recently upgraded some tools and have the following 3 punches for sale to someone who can use them: 5/8" oblong slot punch 3/4" oblong slot punch 1" round strap end punch $75 + shipping for all 3 or $25/ea + shipping OBO. Would prefer them to go together, but will consider selling separately. Ships from NY. Nothing is wrong with them, they all work fine, I just don't use them anymore. Thanks for looking, Matt

8" Pull Through Splitter With Spare Blade For Sale. $250 shipped to North America I have two pull through splitters and barely use this one. In fact, it's probably only split 25 pieces of leather in its lifetime. This model is a clone of an Osborne 84 and works well. It comes complete with a spare blade that has never been opened and the fitted blade was kept sharp using a simple jig and a lansky sharpening system. The current edge is very clean, polished, and free from nicks or dents. I've also attached a simple collar and pin to the depth adjustment arm to allow more accurate repeated splits. This is attached via friction and can easily be removed is so desired. The paper scale you can see has arbitrary units and is simply a reference scale when splitting multiple pieces of leather to the same thickness. Please see the the images below for more details and don't hesitate to ask any further questions you might have.

Hello All, Please help save my Round knife. On the advice a neighbour I sent my Round Knife to have the brass ferule fixed. Please view the image of the result - they have ruined the knife. It is my favourite tool and have been using it for the last 20 years. Is it worth saving or repairing and if so how and where? Ideally UK based but willing to send further afield if needed. I believe that the newer versions of the same knife are not so good in quality (Osborne Round knife). Any advise welcome. #heartbroken! Kindest regards JCUK

From the album: Stitching Iron Comparisons
Reverse side of stitch, so thread is reversed: Tiger, then 132, 332,532 linens. This side is more dependent on the awl and my ability to control it than the pricking iron, with the exception of the last row, which used a punch to go completely through the leather. YinTx© YinTx

Just an image of the stitching irons to choose from. They all have very different characteristics, and are useful depending on what work I am doing. No Vergez Blanchards, though. Some day, maybe. YinTx© YinTx

From the album: Second Project: Phone Slip Case
Revisited the cell phone slip case with some experimenting. Using my new Osborne stitching irons and Blanchard awl with Osborne linen thread. First time I put all three together. Those 2.9mm long holes are really long, and I had issues getting the lay to be correct, but after more practice I have been able to get better stitching than this now. The color was also an experiment. YinTx© YinTx
