  1. They cleaned up real nice. But sometimes cleaning a old tool or anything else ruins the value if you want to resell them to a collector. The rosewood handled ones are he oldest. Guy i used to work for uses blades for utility knife i belive in his strap cutter if you don't to try sharpening the other blades.
  2. Max i forgot to say that before i used the sponge in the pot, lub would build up on the front tenson spring and drip onto what i was sewing ever so offen. Sense i have used the sponge in the pot i don't have that problem any more.
  3. Put in Leather Stamps by Clay Miller because i looked through about 100 Clay Miller's before i found his page.
  4. Max i do what i read on here and that was to cut a piece of sponge to put in the wax pot. You will need to cut a slit in the sponge for the thread to go in. I pour some lube in on the sponge. I never have tried liquid wax on my machine. The only ones i have even seen that use wax were needle and awl machines but their lots of things i haven't seen to. Like you said with no lube the needle will get so hot it melts the thread if your sewing very thick or very fast.
  5. I would be real carefull about saying that it was stab proof. Even most if not all bullet proof vest arent stab proof. When you think about it a bullet is not as pointed as a knife and when you stab with a knife your putting several thousand pounds of force right on the point of the knife. A bullet spreads out when it hits most of the time and a knife will keep going. That's the way i seen it explained by a bullet proof vest maker. He said all the offered were stab restaint vest.
  6. Ray your lucky !!! You got your bobbins back. I still have a round knife 2 pound spools of thread, and a couple of books that haven't shown up and it's been all most 7 years. But i did have the faries bring back some strainer plates one time right after i bought some more and they put them right where i went to set the new ones...LOL.
  7. I glue to the edge to with no problems.
  8. Nice holster !!
  9. Looks like she had a spot on her rear at one time maybe it faded out as she got older. Kinda like a gray horse turning white. But that's just a guess on my part.
  10. I use cabinet scrapers when i get to final shapeing. Their a little slower but work great i think. http://www.grizzly.com/products/6-pc-Scraper-Set/H5568
  11. Hi secretasianman, just guessing from the name your some kind of secret agent ? Try Springfield Leather they have some horse butts for 12.00 that would work i bet for your razor strop. They have a add at the top of the page and their nice folks to order from.
  12. You did a nice job ! Has the original maker seen it ?
  13. The way it was wrote implies to me that he had the machine for a good long while. While 2 years is a while it's not a long while to me. You think i'm think your wrong and you think i'm wrong and that's your choice. Opinion's are like Butts. Most ever body has one. I never said anything about Steve or his machines either. Never have met Steve or seen any of the machines he sells, except in pictures. The folks that have one seem happy with their machines and the service and help they get from Steve and that's great. That's what makes a business grow. On the plus side i'm old enough to know that i don't ever thing.
  14. To me it means their aint many of them and it's a long time before you see another one if ever. So what does it mean to you ?
  15. I don't know why he is hung up on UPS and doesn't use the post office and Priority Mail. The post office will pick it up just like UPS and they have tracking to. When i have ordered and the tools were sent UPS it took at least a week to get here the post office would of been 3 days tops plus it's cheaper. I send things all over the US with Priority Mail and the only time it has took longer than 3 days was right at Christmas. I really like the swivel knife and blades i have gotten from Barry.
  16. Thanks, Rickyfro i didn't know it would that. I did go over the pattern and it looks neat.
  17. I wish he would do a little bit of pattern with that stamp and few more so a person could see what they look like. I'd like to get some tools from him but that $8.00 to send one stamp that weighs a few ounces is just to much for me and i'm sure for other folks to.
  18. Those are pretty durn neat !
  19. Thanks for the info, it was a rough estimate, my receipt says july so in about two months it will be two years. As he says in open range "split-en hairs aint-ya Boss" Nope not spliting hairs. But i think most folks would agree ( that when you say you had something for a few years. It's 15 or 20 or more years not 2 years ). I'm sure Steve is a good guy never heard anything different.
  20. I think you need to figure again on how long you have had your machine. You got it after i joined and i will of been a member for 2 years in August. So maybe you have had your machine a little over a year but not years.
  21. Does the thread pull off the bobbin freely ? If it doesn't the thread may of pulled over to one side or the other and breaks when you sew. I have had that happen on machines before.
  22. Take a piece of scrap and try sanding it.
  23. DJ i think i have a whole family of Faries living in my shop. Not only do mine take small shiny things but big shiny things like knives, tooling tools and edgers and hide them. So far they haven't messed with my sewing machines. But at my other shop they did mess with one machine and i haven't got it fixed yet. When my shop foreman Happy Man was puppy he would grab anything that hit the floor and be gone before you had a chance to even look to see what it was. I still have one edger missing and it was took 2 years ago. I feel your pain !
  24. I really like your seat and the pen stripeing. Nice job
  25. He sure did a nice job on the tank. I wonder how long it took to do it ? A while i bet.
