Gun Mold Buyers Group!
camano ridge replied to talon's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Is the 5 minimum what is neede to get a gun mold for a model not currently made or is this for a multi mold purchase discount? What is the advantage of the group as opposed to individual purchase? Do they ship to each individual or to you then you ship to each individual? -
Belt clips.comn has them for $3.49 in either silver or black http://beltclips.com/store/

How Do You Handle People Wanting To Cancel Orders.
camano ridge replied to billymac814's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I tell my customers and have a policy, that they may cancel up to the point where I begin construction. I normally try to let my customers know about one week before I begin work on their project that they have reached the top of the list and that I will be starting their project. Once the knife hits the leather there is no refund. If you had put in an email the date of projected completion or had the wait time clearly posted on your web site, then he was aware of the projected completion date and should have contacted you before making other arrangements. I would tell him that upon completion that you will be sending him his new holster, however since the project has already been started no refund is available. I would not offer to help himj seel the holster, in his mind it will then become your responsability to sell it and get him his money. As to the other gentleman he should have decided on kydex before he ordered from you and paid for a custom holster. Just my two cents worth. -
How Do I Make Bullet Loops?
camano ridge replied to RoosterShooter's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
If you go over to Cascity.com and do a search for bullet loops , cartridge, holders, belt slides, and cartridge belts. You will find several threads with how to's and I think belt loop tutorial. You will find how to weave loops how to sew loops, how to do belt slide and even shotshell loops. There is also a chart that gives the spacing for different callibers for on the belt and the loop strip for both woven and sewn loops. Also do a search for bullet loops or cartridge loops on this forum. Here is one thread that has some mini tutorials on bullet loops http://leatherworker...+loop +tutorial Here are a few items that may help Spacing for stitching loops 20 gauge single loop...1 3/4" on the loop and 7/8" on the slide 20 gauge double loop..2 3/8" on the loop and 1 3/4" on the slide (as shown in picture) 12 gauge sinlge loop....2 1/8" on the loop and 1" on the slide (as shown in picutre) 12 gauge double loop..2 7/8" on the loop and 1 7/8" on the slide 45 Colt....1 3/8" on the loop and 5/8" on the belt .38/.357..1 1/8" on the loop and 9/16" on the belt .32 cal. ..1" on the loop and 1/2" on the belt .500 S&W mag...1 1/2" on the loop and 5/8" on the belt -
If you have not gone to Adams Leather web site and watched is videos you shouldd, the first one he did is on making a pettern for a holster. Also at the top of this forum is a pinned thread entitled holster design (long) it does a pretty good job of going over pattern making as well.

Check out this thread at CASCITY.com http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,45157.msg561239.html#msg561239 one of the forum members there did one and has pictures. Also if you do a search on leatherworkers.net there is a leather covered canteen tutorial, it is a different style canteen but will give you some insight. One of the leathercrafter and saddlers journals has a pattern and step by step for covering a canteen like yours, when I go down to the shop I will see if I can find wich month and year it is.

My First Sporran

Was this made to go with the Emperors New Suit Because i don't see it -
There is Leather Smith Supply Co. in Overland Park KS http://www.leathersmithsupply.com/

I agree with Pegasus. If you took a Brand like the one below and reversed it it could represent someone elses brand. Since it represents a particular brand I would copy it exactly as it is. What style of spur strap are you making and where are you placing the brand on the strap?
-
Here are some examples. If you look on Dixie Gunworks site I think they sell some holsters for a LeMat. A slim Jim style should be easy to make for the LeMat. If you go over to cascity.com to the leathershop forum someone ther may have a pattern.

Do a search for helmet shields on the leatherworker.net main forum page. There are several firefighters in the forums that make helmet shields. Here is a link to a post by ne of them. Send him a PM I am sure here can give you some insight. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=26586&hl=%2Bhelmet+%2Bshields

Ruger Holster
camano ridge replied to Jimbob's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
And in addition to what art said it is not the customer they can come after it is you because you are the one that copied their logo onto an item that you sold. -
After doing a search, I would suggest going to the main forums page and do a search for rope stamp, rope carving or rope border, you will find quite a few threads giving information on how to do rope. One tutorial is even how to do it with a beveler and a swivel knife. One thread you will find by Bruce Johnson does a comparison of different rope tools.
-
This is a thread by Bruce Johnson who does a lot of rope borders. It is not a true tutorial, however the picture should help you, it also shows how to modify a background tool to fit against the rope impression. Don't no which rope tool you are intending to use but this is worth a look if for no other reason then to see what a very nice rope border looks like. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=13056&hl=rope#entry264867

Cowboy Fast Draw Rigs
camano ridge replied to IngleGunLeather's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I have made one and it seemed to comply with all of the CFDA regs. I got the pattern from Makers Leather Supply (slickbald Custom)http://www.slickbaldcustoms.com/ it's a pretty good pattern pack for $15.00 with phot tutorial that does a very good job of showing instalation of the deflector. I will see if I can find pictures of the one I made. THe deflectoris just 20ga galv sandwiched between the front and backe of the double layer skirt. The CFDA rules give specific measurements for placement of the deflector and the pattern from makers supply shows it pretty well. -
