Wow Bob, you tested it 6000 times? Hope you were also watching a good movie! All kidding aside, I have an Oberon wallet that has this style of card slots that I have been using for about 14 years and I can put 2 and 3 cards in each slot and the wallet shows no sign of wear or tear whatsoever. Just thought I'd mention that the slots are about 1/2 inch wider than the cards and there is a small round hole punched out at either end of the slots. I think the hole helps keep the leather from tearing Also it looks like the material behind the slots is a thick Dacron and I can see it is wider than the slots.

If in doubt, test it out on some scrap leather first.....

Thanks Wyoming... Well the dog is OK today, so I guess I am lucky. I would really feel bad if something had happened to their dog. I love dogs.... but I know what you mean, I have had/do have that kind of dog. Born smart and learns fast. But not all dogs can resist the pressure of seeing a tasty morsel... I had 2 border/aussi mix dogs and there was so much sibling rivalry, they both wanted to be the first one to do what I asked them to do. It was amazing how fast they learned things. I brought 3 biscuits into the livingroom, gave them both one and left one on the side table. It was still there the next day... it sure was funny to see the way the dogs looked at each other as they walked by that biscuit. I really hate to see folks not train/or treat their dogs right, but some dogs have been abused and have so much to learn, sometimes it is hard to teach/train them - and this is one of those times. Max was rescued from a neglectful home and he has a lot to learn. Like something as simple as getting a pat on the head is a good thing - he thinks he is gonna get hit.... sad, really sad. So for now the leather coasters will get put away till he learns they are not dog toys.

I just got a call from some friends that have a bunch of my coasters. They wanted to know what I put on the coasters that I make - because one of their dogs ate one of the coasters. The dog puked up some of the coaster, but is not showing any sign's of distress. I looked up the information available on the MSDS sheets, but the MSDS sheets are for the products in their liquid/undiluted form. If you read some of the information for the sealers, dyes, and finishes we use, it can sound pretty bad... even though there might only be a very small amount of the product spread on to the leather and left to dry. So, my question is for anyone with experience or knowledge of an animal being ill due to chewing or swallowing a 3 1/2 in diameter piece of leather with any of these products.... Neatsfoot oil Super Shene Satin Shene Leather Balm w/Atom Wax Fiebings dye Bag Kote Tan Coat I usually only use the Neatsfoot and Satin sheen but sometimes I use a little of one the others. I sure would feel bad if my leatherwork caused any irreparable damage

Tallbald - my only suggestion is to use some scrap leather to figure what length to cut your rivets - then write it down... I can't tell you how many different projects I have tried to figure something out... again. Writing it down in a small notebook saves me a lot of time. If unsure, use scrap leather to figure something out first, before doing it on your near-finished project. That will save a lot of frustration, time and money. Sometimes I need to cut rivets down and after snipping them off I use a pair of needle nose pliers and give the cut end a squeeze and then use the pointy end of a modeler to open the cut end of the rivet up and round it out... I hope this helps

Out of curiosity I went over to cascity.com to see what I could find.... wasted a lot of time, even did a search for info on copper rivets.... I'm not a member so I couldn't search their forum. Does it have to be so hard to share that info? I wonder how many others have done the same?

Hey Ray, I've never heard of a Fargo, so I had to go looking... found an interesting website with some history and pictures. Found a pic of a 1929 Fargo clipper and down the page a bit another of a great 37/38 Fargo pickup that looks like it could be one of the first dodge pw.... I just love old trucks... and understand why you miss your 29 Fargo. got any pictures? I'd love to see one.

I know lots of things have been changed here at the Leatherworker.net website over the years 99% being Wonderful Upgrades... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for that. But I do miss seeing the number of times a picture has been downloaded (down below the picture on the left side along with the name of the picture and size and # of images posted) I guess I was thinking, in a way, you can kind of gauge how popular a leather item or design is... Again, I Really do Appreciate all of the things the admin. does to keep this place alive

Hi Ray Greetings and Best Holiday Wishes to you........ Wow, just found this thread and I has been a fun read... What I have been collecting is items made of cobalt blue glass. I started my collection of cobalt blue glass and then my friends have helped add to it. Glass, that is old glass always interested me because we had an oooold friend in eastern Wa. that had a room of shelves along all the wall - top to bottom - just full of old glass that had changed color from sitting the sun. I have some pieces from that collection that have turned different shades of purple. Something else that I have always loved, but can't afford to collect, is old trucks and we used to have an old ambulance that my father fixed up for camping and rock collecting. I loved riding around that ambulance when I was a kid... Here's a couple of pictures of our old vehicles....... Grrreat Memories! Hope you enjoy the pics!

If you want to make your Valet Tray look like the picture... I don't know if you noticed, but the snaps that hold the corners together are installed in the lining and so they do not show on the exterior of the tray leather. It looks to me like it would be easier to use suede, install your snaps and glue the lining to the leather. Stitch the top line, snap the corners and there you are... Also easier - Suede comes in different colors and you can get it for 3.79 to 5.00 per square ft. Hmmmm, might make a nice Christmas present...

Hey, you are welcome...... I've been thinking about this and I bet we are probably over thinking this... most cases I've seen have a liner and then you'd use a separate piece of soft microfiber to clean the glasses with. I think when I make my case... I think I'll just put a bit of glue on the edges of a piece of suede (or microfiber) cut to fit before assembly... fyi - here's another link with a couple of patterns borrowed from an excellent leather-worker here....... hope this helps

Nope - You will not need the extender arm for that. The LION EV-R-Round Circle Cutter will cut circles from 3/4 in. up to 6 3/4 in. btw - looks like Mr Art has the best price for that cutter

Yes, there are actually 2 ways to do it with this tool. One is with a hole and one without... It's been a while since I used mine but there is a piece that goes on to hold the cutter in place and it is like a small round plate instead of the one with the pin. What I did was glue a thin piece of leather to to the metal plate so there was no indentation the size of the plate either. Hope this helps
