  1. Here's a good video on how NOT to make a Roo into useable leather. Video Ken
  2. That looks real good Mike, great job and thanks for sharing the pics. As to the round holes, I always use round holes, they have a whole lot more strength to them than the slotted ones, and are way less likely to rip or tear. Ken
  3. Ed, have alook at these sites, I think it may be of some help to you. Book Binding Tutorial Book Binding Tutorial #2 Ken
  4. I remember that store, the name does'nt come to me at the moment. I lived in High River for 6 years back in the 90's. They had a whole bunch of great pictures such as this one on the walls if I recall right. Ken
  5. Thanks Clay, now I've got to go spend some more money..LOL Ken
  6. Welcome to the forum Luke and Christine, glad to have you here. That's some fine looking work you both do, and I like the lok of your website too. Ken
  7. Number one rule.... NEVER EVER Accept Cheque's. It's 2007, and there are so many other ways to receive payments. 1- E-Mail Transfer 2- PayPal 3- Credit Card (Through PayPal) 4- Postal Money Order 5- Bank Draft The above listed all cost a bit, but they do not bounce. A bounced cheque is going to cost you at your bank, and that's what you have to recover from whomever gave you the bad cheque. Up here in Canada, most places (if they even take cheque's) charge a minimum of $40.00 for a NSF fee. Ken
  8. Thanks freak, I appreciate the compliment. The lacing takes about 25 hours alone, the rest is fairly simple to do...cutting leather...glueing leather...etc. I prefer to use a lace that's about 5/6 feet long, that way it's easier to work with, and it's not going to get all worn down and look thinner as I go. For the multi-strand weave I'll always use the right length of lace, even if it's 10 or 12 feet long. This keeps me from having to make a flimsy joint in the weave. Ken
  9. Thats awesome freak. The colors really make it POP. Great work. Ken
  10. Wow. That's a lot of hours and at little pay, kinda like a few things I make at about $10 per hour. But as we all know, if we wanted to make 30 or 50 dollars an hour, we would most likely never sell anything. Ken
  11. Paul, the only time I've used Testers, is on the rough side or on pigskin suede. They worked okay on those, but on the veg tan, I never had good results. There is a thread here on pearlized dyes and such, that may be of some help to you. Ken
  12. Real nice looking Major. How long does it take you to make one of those? Ken
  13. Simply beautiful Greg, you saddle makers always amaze me at the detail. Great work and thanks for sharing the pics. Ken
  14. Very nice Kevin, I like that wood grain you've done. Ken
  15. Kevin, E-Bay has changed the way they display the bidding histories names so that unless you are the person that has listed an item for sale, you are not permitted to see the actual name of the bidder. They say this is to keep unscrupulous people from contacting the bidders with a better deal on something. Ken
  16. Again Dave...BEAUTIFUL.... What thickness of padding are you using on those? Ken
  17. Very beautiful Kate. And the shop looks nice as well. Ken
  18. Jim, that looks real cool, I really like the string color too. Ken
  19. Very nice Bert. That's the same leather I built my first hat out of, same color and evrything. The hat weighed like 12lbs though, and was way to heavy for the head. Ken
  20. Great job there Micah, I love that color. Ken
  21. Welcome to the forum Melody, it's great to have you here. I also admire the labor of love you've put into your work, keep up the great work, and thanks for showing us the pics. Ken
  22. Hey Roger, thanks for the compliment. Yes I put the nylon mesh in the back of all the vests and hats. It really does help the leather to breathe. Ken
  23. Shirleyz, thanks for the compliment, it's always appreciated when people like my work. I'll find my measurement chart and PM you. That's all thats needed, a few basic measurements and from there I can make one for someone, even if they live in Greenland. Ken
  24. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag Gesa Have a GREAT day. Ken
