How to adjust Cobra class 4 outer presser foot down
Northmount replied to JAM's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Downloaded just fine for me. Almost instant! -
Pictures may be portrait (taller than width) or landscape (wider than height). So the longest dimension depends on the photos orientation. Which ever side is longest - set it to 800 pixels.

Picked up a free triple feed sewing machine today...
Northmount replied to David916's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Use YouTube and post the link here. YouTube is the most common one used here. Other 3rd party hosts may work. We prefer photos not be 3rd party hosted as they often disappear, but unfortunately, 3rd party hosting is the only choice for videos. -
You need to tag a member by typing the @ symbol followed by the members name. Pick the name out of the popup box. Like this: @shoepatcher Now Glen will get a notification. When resizing photos, size the longest dimension to be 800 pixels. The last series are too small for any detail. So on your phone, pick the next higher size setting and try it. Or use a web based app that will let you pick 800 pixels.

Moved to leather tools. Help wanted requires moderator approval before members can see it. 6.3mm is 1/4" so 6.2mm is just slightly less allowing easy fit into a 1/4" hole.

You may load several photos at a time. Then place your cursor in your text area, scroll down to the photo and hit the + to insert the photo where your cursor was in the text. If you don't hit the + to insert a photo, it likely won't show up, even though it is loaded. I've seen people load the same photo more than once and not get it into the text area.

Please re-post the pictures as jpegs. webp is not a common format yet, and most members here will not open these; many don't have software that will accommodate these files.

You need to look at the anatomy of a needle. The scarf and groove are on opposite sides. The scarf lets the hook get closer tot he needle to pick up the loop that is formed as the needle rises. The the top thread comes down the groove. It reduces the drag as the needle is descending, and thread is protected from shredding that would otherwise occur. See the link below. https://www.schmetzneedles.com/blogs/blog/sewing-machine-needle-anatomy

Moved your post to sewing leather. You'll find lots of information in this forum, including Nigel.

Can also use a piece of hose to help determine where the sound is coming from. Hold one end to your ear and mover the other end around to find the vicinity of the source noise. Direction finder! Then use the dowel or screw diver or stethoscope to hear the noise with more 'detail' or 'clarity'. After may years of vibration monitoring, trending and analysis, this sounds like gear noise. I expected 'higher pitch' to be more of a high pitched squeal, but from your video, not high pitched, but changes with speed. I'd be checking the lash on the hook gear set.

If your files are too large to post here due to file size restrictions, you need to resize your files to fit. Follow this link for some helps and suggestions. https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/15122-how-to-post-pictures-on-lw/?do=findComment&comment=551171 There are lots of Apps, software, and online tools available on the web, or even built into your device to enable you to reduce your file sizes. 800 pixels in the longest dimension is quite adequate. Smart phone screens and many monitors don't display high res files in high resolution. People that live on the fringes of the internet appreciate smaller file sizes and high res photos may take from 10 minutes to hours to download.

Was the belt tooled and sealed before? If not, I would seal the whole belt.

Recommended stitching machine for new shoemaker
Northmount replied to JAM's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Moved your post to leather sewing machines to see if someone there can chime in since there has been no response for several days in the shoe moccasin area. -
I have a small Quartzite slab about 9x12", some pieces of marble various sizes, and 2 granite slabs about 12x24". I haven't had any kind of problem with any of them, except they are getting heavier as I age!

See the marketplace rules here https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/ You will note that "Posts older than 60 days, or items marked "sold" will be archived." The posts are locked and moved to Old/sold. So if they are older than 60 days and no activity, that's where they go. It would appear that there was no interest in your machine. Not any fault with the Marketplace.

Creating Woolly Mammoth Leather (an ongoing project)
Northmount replied to Themammothproject's topic in How Do I Do That?
Interesting that hides are being recovered from mammoths that have been buried for centuries. There were reported sightings of mammoths in North America in the 1700s or early 1800s. Sometimes we wonder about facts or made up stories.
