  1. It works. The cable to his dish had a problem, they sent out a new cable and an upgraded dish, no charge. I've thought about it too, even though I'm in a large urban location with fibre. He is quite happy with his setup. He would like to be on fibre too. He and a group of other users along the foothills with poor or no service are looking at setting up a coop to own and run their own fibre, and tie into main fibre cables in 2 locations so they have a little redundancy. Good question as to whether it will happen or just become a pipe dream.
  2. You have not hit the "Submit Reply" button in this screen capture, therefore there is no edit button. Notice the prompt "Click to choose files". It's only there during the time you are formulating your post. Once posted by hitting the "Submit Reply" button, that prompt goes away and the "Edit Button" should be visible and appear like this: Another indication that it hasn't been posted yet is that your keyboard is still visible. The keyboard goes away after the post has been submitted. So far to me, it appears to be a case of user error.
  3. My son lives near a little town that has a cell tower on the hill above the town. The town itself is in a dead spot, no cell coverage. The school liked it for a few years, students couldn't use their cell phones! Finally the staff and parents got tired of it so the school has put in a repeater. Where he lives, he is in a valley. Had to put a repeater and antenna on top of his 2 story house to be able to connect with one cell provider. Others not able to connect with. He had a buried telephone cable running past his place. Couldn't get on it because all the pairs were already assigned. Finally one of the phone company's techs came out and traced all the connections and found him a spare pair, so he now has a land line after several years without. For internet service, he is on Starlink. It works fairly well for him compared to having to use cell service with its costs and limitations.
  4. Wow!! Fantastic knives. I'm sure you will be successful with your new machine. It takes a little time to sort out the quirks. Do lots of practise on scrap. Learn how to turn corners, etc.
  5. Okay, I set up access on my cell phone so now I can see what the typical screen should look like on a phone. First of all, are you expecting the "Edit" button to be on the screen while you are submitting a reply or post? If that is the case, no, there is no "Edit" button. You have access to correct what is on the screen until you hit the "Submit Reply" button. After it is submitted, you need the "Edit" button. If you are going back to a post you just made and submitted, there should be an edit button at the bottom of the post. Starting in the bottom left corner, you should see a "+" sign, then "Quote", then "Edit", then maybe "Options". I have the options item, you might not as I have extra tools that users don't have. Please note that the "Edit" button option times out. It's only there for a short period of time, maybe an hour or two. (Have never figured out how long, as it is there for moderators all the time.) Then you would have to quote and make a correction in a new reply, or report it and ask a moderator to fix it for you and explain what the fix is that is required. As far as ADA goes, maybe your device needs to be ADA compliant. So a much larger tablet or keyboard to make it easier to hit the right characters.
  6. This appears to be a problem on your device. Are you using a phone? I really dislike the small keyboards. I have to keep backing up and re-typing my comments. So I use a computer most of the time where my fingers fit the keyboard. I still make lots of typos, but much easier to correct. I'll have to setup a login on my phone and see what the screen looks like as to what happens to the edit button. Normally it's there for an hour or two before it expires.

  11. Try a #23, #22 doesn't always work.
  12. Please post your photos here. 3rd party hosted photos frequently disappear due to changes in the host's policies, host out of business, users moving files, deleting files, closing their account or the account expiring. When this happens, the post becomes worthless to all future users who are researching or looking for help to solve a problem. If your files are too large to post here due to file size restrictions, you need to resize your files to fit. Follow this link for some helps and suggestions. https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/15122-how-to-post-pictures-on-lw/?do=findComment&comment=551171 There are lots of Apps, software, and online tools available on the web, or even built into your device to enable you to reduce your file sizes. 800 pixels in the longest dimension is quite adequate. Smart phone screens and many monitors don't display high res files in high resolution. People that live on the fringes of the internet appreciate smaller file sizes and high res photos may take from 10 minutes to hours to download.
  13. You should quote something from the person you want to connect with, or tag them so they will get a notification. To tag a person, type the '@' symbol followed by their username and pick the username from the popup box like this: @Johns3b you have a reply to your post wanting a cobra class 4 or equivalent Cowboy machine.
  14. Is your needle size too small. Check this chart.
  15. Moved this thread to Sewing Leather.
  16. You realize this thread is 10 years old? Moved this thread to Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners. He is likely using oxalic acid. Mix about 1 teaspoon to a pint of water. It's very mild, like the strength of lemon juice. Dealing with leather here, not soldering metals.
