The chair in this photo is bonded leather. Thin layer on a fabric substrate. Leather is ground up, mixed with a glue, pressed onto fabric and rolled. Surface is very consistent, and can be made any length. No junk hide parts, they all went into the brew.
I am currently re-doing this chair with upholstery leather (real leather) since current chair construction quality on Amazon sucks. Broken welds, guy 6'2" at lowest height setting, feet don't touch the floor, etc. I figured I can use the practice and learn something new at the same time.
