  1. Mikie is nice to see ya home. I wouldn't call myself a veteran, still a student of the craft. I love it when I can help someone and find there's still so many things I can't answer. I have found a niche that I'm going to focus on now, pet supplies, collars, leads, etc. Well strappy stuff, belts, bracelets too. May call the website that. Strappy stuff It's nice seeing you. I'm surprised you didn't put your rose on. Cheryl
  2. LOL Daryl, it looks nice. And the carving is nice too. Cheryl
  3. I agree with the OP about repairs. I had a woman bring a purse strap to me that had frayed. She told me the purse wasn't name brand or anything special she just liked it. The were thin straps and maybe a foot long. Took me maybe 1/2 to redo them and made a quick 10 bucks. That said, I've been doing this 4 years and I'm getting ready to specialize in 'strappy stuff.' I like making it, people pay a lot of money for their pets and beside that I will have belts which always sell. Will I turn down a repair or the odd custom order that comes along? Probably not, they allow me to do what I like to do. But I need to cut down my products to a reasonable diversity. Cheryl
  4. David someone recommended the edge roller to mee. I thought you said you'd already tried it. I just bought those fiebings sharpies where you add your own dye and going to give them a shot at 3.50 before I buy that edge roller from Tandy for 30.00. Colt my hands are very shaky too which is why I'm looking for things also. I'll let you folks know if these pens work for someone without a natural talent. Cheryl
  5. chrstn would you ship this? Texas dies sells these and ups ships them for around 200.00 if they don't go over 150 lbs. Thanks Cheryl
  6. I meant didn't work for you. There are people who freehand their edges but I'll never be one f those people Cheryl
  7. Well David you saved me some money when you said the edge roller didn't work. I'm going to try the pens because I'v been doing this 4 years and leeave my edges undyed because of fear of getting the dye on the front or back. Thanks, Cheryl
  8. Hi Jess. I'd really like a box of the straps. I make dog collars, etc. Assuming you sell it for one third of the price. I don't need the smaller pieces of scrap, I do't make anything that heavy in smaller objects. I would give you the 75 if you can find out how much the shipping will be. It's shipping clear across the country, LOL. we couldn't be further apart if we tried. Cheryl Sorry, my zip is 05701
  9. Thanks Bill, I just made it like the watch straps. I really like that technique. Cheryl

    Stecksstore

I started out with them on eBay but moved on after a while because they are a Tandy reseller. I don't like the quality of a lot of Tandy's things. But I still have my basic 6 I got from steckstore!! Cheryl
  11. Mat, these watch bands intrigued me so I made my dog a collar using the same technique. It's not as good as the examples you showed because for one I couldn't cut the ends flush and have it flip. I needed he extra weight. Don't know how well it will hold up but very proud of it right now, looks great on my dog.
  12. Someone mentioned I should burnish it Daryl, so going to try. Don't know how much luck I'll have with the python and pull up. We'll see Yin is it real or is it Memorex? Nah that's my good ole Cobra 4
  13. The other day someone asked how a specific set of watch straps were made and we tried to explain them to him. I was intrigued by the design and Skadi needed a new collar so here it is. I'll have to admit I'm pretty happy with it Cheryl
  14. next if he doesn't want it bill. cheryl
  15. Good grief, is there anything you DON'T have? I wouldn't know where to start working in there, lol. Congrats on the move Ray. Cheryl
  16. I must be blind because I can't even see the problem.....Cheryl
  17. I would use a good lather of saddle soap on it and buff it really well. Then you may have to go in through the inside if the finish hasn't worn off and put a conditioner on it. I just use bag balm but there's tons of conditioners out there. Or you can take the finish off yourself and condition it. Cheryl
  18. This always seems to be an issue with black oil dye and sweating. For black use vinegaroon instead. Once it dries it doesn't rub off. Cheryl
