  1. Merry Christmas to you too...what ever price you put on is fine as long as you are happy and your customer is happy...don't beat yourself up over pricing...every area is different and what their willing to pay...I'm on the eastern side of the United States and I sell and send almost everything to the Midwest or West Coast. Good luck.
  2. I just do leather work as a hobby...the price that I charge is the cost of all materials, plus shipping...times 2. This keeps me in leather with a little extra for my time and adult beverages...lol
  3. I too use some leather that is over a year old...depending on what I'm doing with the leather, dictates when I oil...if during the project the leather will be flexed I oil before...if it will not be flexed during the making process I wait until after the dye is applied and the edges are finished. Hope this makes sense.
  4. Thank you Karina...I too would choose a Craftsman over a Skil. The band saw is on my Christmas List...I'm hoping Santa will bring it. I will forward your information to Mrs Claus. Also thank you TinkerTailor for the blade information.
  5. I've used a drill press in the past to drill holes...works will with a stiff backing. What make, model or brand of band saw would you all recommend. I was looking at the Skil from Lowes for around $ 130. It is a bench top band saw.
  6. What type of band saw blade works best for cutting leather?
  7. I've heard pure Cedar Oil is a good mold deterrent. To me it has a very pleasant smell as well. This is not from experience, but something I read somewhere.
  8. Ok...I see what you mean...I think you're right
  9. I take my belt straps over the top like your first photo...I think it is easier to get on and off this way and the snaps stay more secure. I really don't see where you would save any leather one way or the other. Troy
  10. I've had this happen...don't know the cause, but sometimes if you let it set for a week or so it will even out a little and then rub/buff it until you get everything blended together. Sometimes this works and sometimes not. I have also used a bench buffer to even out the color of the dye, but be careful that you don't burn the leather. One word of caution...this will darken your leather.
  11. Ohio Travel Bag is a good source for just about everything...very high quality and fair prices...I use their sold Brass Chicago Screws and never had a problem.
  12. Google British Museum Leather Conditioner...you should find a formula for it. This is what I use...works great. If I get to my computer within the next couple of days I will post it...if I remember LOL---I'M old and sometimes forget things.
  13. That is fantastic!!!! Good job.
  14. I use 9/10 oz. Veg tanned leather, I glue and sew the belt flat...as long as you are using a high quality leather you should not have a problem. I use Wickett & Craig. Troy
  15. I wish you well and a quick recovery. Troy
  16. Made an order with them for 30 leather belt straps on July 1...still waiting for them to be shipped. The last time I ordered they shipped within two days. The time before I waited 8 weeks for the straps to ship. Good advice from Camano...call them to see if what you want is in stock before you order..if it is they will ship quick, if it's not in stock God only knows when it will ship. The reason I keep going back to them is that they do have some good prices on leather straps, and the quality is not too bad either...I've seen better quality in other dealers Leather, but it was alot more expensive...remember that you often get what you pay for.
  17. Sounds like your talking about dip dying...when I dye most of my holsters and slings, I dip them in a large container of dye then set them out flat to dry.
  18. I sell holsters on ebay...if you show a gun without the disclaimer that the gun is not for sale, they will delete your auction. Ebay's rules, witch I think is a bunch of B.S., but if you want to sell there, you have to follow their rules. And yes some people will think that everything in the photos is included in the auction...you can't give people too much credit, they will surprise you. LOL
  19. I haven't located any either...maybe someone on here will know where to get one or have one made.
  20. I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but if you contact Barry on his Web site he will get back to you pretty quick. When I was buying some of his tools and had questions, this is what I did...very nice guy. No matter which tool you get from him, you wouldn't be disappointed.
  21. Very nice...what color of dye did you use? I really like that color.
  22. Thank you, Zoej
  23. Wow...Hard to believe no one has tried either one. I usually use MPB or Aussie...I was just looking to try something different. Any comments on Abbey 1982 Saddle Food or Sedgwick Leathercare would be appreciated.
