Elephant Card Wallets
thefanninator replied to thefanninator's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks. Yeah the texture is interesting, very different from anything else. -
After seeing some cool elephant wallets I wanted to try some. I purchased 1 sq ft from Roje Leather. The texture is incredible. I was able to get 4 different sizes for wallets out of it. Here are the first two. 2 and 4 pocket card wallets. I used a 9tpi Blanchard pricking iron, Alran chèvre for the interiors and Lin Cable 632 thread. I use Fenice edge paint and sand to very a fine grit then buff with paraffin wax.

Floral Card Wallet

Nice work Bob. I like that medium brown on the back. Did you dye it? Can you run your stitching groove before you dye?- 9 replies

Lining selection for your leather work
thefanninator replied to KelvinL's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
How much money do you want to spend? How nice do you want it? How thin do you need it? -
In this thread I posted a page of Wayne's stamps that I scanned. There are some similar.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to see a pic of the skin. Where are you located?

Crocodile edges. Can you burnish them?
thefanninator replied to Leahlovesleather's topic in How Do I Do That?
I think crocodile and alligator are a little too soft for burnishing. You may get better results with edge paint. Build up several layers, sanding in-between each layer with finer and finer grit and then wax and buff. -
First ever bag!

Nice work. I did one very similar to this almost a year ago. I used a Horween double horse front. -
Good idea and nice touch with the deer antler.

Any ideas what rotary edge paint tool is used in this video?
thefanninator replied to tossik's topic in Leather Tools
My guess as to the glue is some type of water-based Renia, perhaps Aquilim GL, SG or 315. It might also be Saregum 130. -
Left and middle look good to me. I agree the .8 looks a little bulky. How many teeth on the other iron?

Contact them at that website and ask if they have some left.

Try Booth Tools. Booth carried some while Dixon was still in business. They may have some left. http://www.boothandco.com/handtools.php

Horween Essex Briefcase
thefanninator replied to thefanninator's topic in Satchels, Luggage and Briefcases
Lin Cable 432, which is a little thick for 9 tpi but still looks ok. -
Is this still available?
