i like the horse too...nice tooling

great looking bag. love the color and tooling. i made a bike tool bag once similar to this...the first and last...the amount of work for the price that it sold for wasnt worth the effort. unfortunately the market is flooded with cheap imports, especially on ebay. they will find out that the cheap ones dont last long, one day they will be riding along and find all their tools all over the road...ha ha to them!!

well the family and i are on a weeks holiday on the mornington penisula in victoria. i took the laptop but the wireless internet that i have has no coverage here!!! everyone is having severe computer withdraw!!!! i am at the local library that has free internet so i can get a fix!!! i have found a few unsecured wireless internet connections in town, but i shouldnt do that should I? It is raining but the resort i am at has an indoor pool, squash, tennis, gym, so the kids are happy enough. Leathercat asked if i was taking my leatherwork with me, but i said i wouldnt!! (only because there wasnt enough room in the car!) Back in a week...till then....i shall try and relax!

Monthly Challenge For July
leatheroo replied to Clay's topic in Special Events, Contests and Classes
There was no technical challenge with this piece but i wanted to do a simple representation of our aboriginal art. Our native people are a very ancient race with lots of symbols. The hundreds of dots represent the desert The thick straight line is a track The thick wavey line is a river In the left hand corner, the four lines with little dots are rain The three wavey lines near the middle are snake tracks Three curved lines at bottom left represent mountains The symbols at the top and bottom that look like legs with feet pointing up and kangaroo tracks On the right side, the symbols that look like arrows are emu tracks The three circles with four lines coming off each side represents a journey with resting place. Aboriginal art often depicts stories or places. Hope you like my little landscape. caroline from australia -

hi hiloboy, there was sound but i had to trim the video alot to keep it under the youtube allowed 10 mins...so i deleted the sound.....

i know anne was going to do a tutorial, but i found myself making another bracelet today and thought i would video it for all those who have asked about the technique. i thought a video might be a bit more helpful than photos so if you are interested it can be found on youtube under the title ....wrapped and braided bracelet... here is the link Unfortunately i forgot about the zoom on the camera until the end..so if you cant quite see what is going on, be patient and towards the end there is a close up of the braiding. Clayb i am still interested in how you do yours as this is the only braid i can work out how to do, so maybe some time.........

another great mask tom, love the extra detail in the ears

Burnished edges look great. I have read about lots of different ways to burnish edges... wood, cloth dremels etc.... I have used all these depending on the project. I have to admit the one i like the best is another piece of leather.... What is your favorite and why??????

You were thinking of a challenge!!!! i love it. the tree on the right is awesome...jumps out at me!!!

Another little braiding project. Comet, (leathercats avatar) my tonkinese cat needed a new collar. Black and red roo lacing with small piece of elastic so he wont hang himself.

wow, i thought that was a real feather!!!!

yes tom, i add the gold acylic to the black leather dye before applying. the black over powers the gold color but i find that tiny flecks of gold remain to give a very nice effect of black with a little sparkle!!!! I have used silver as well but prefer the effect with the gold.
