Yea Anne, I really had to contain myself. My wife thought I was crazy until I showed her the Tandy catalog and the prices for new ones.

The soil in my area is so fertile, it grows McMansions almost overnight. The are a few farms left, mostly in the upper part of the county. One plus is that the local Grange is still thriving, and the highlight of the year is the Grange fair. They have competitions for everything from best tomato to best Holstein. My wife crochets, and has had some success, and as i was looking through the entry book, I saw they have a catagory for leather goods! I have a purse laying around that some of you might remember(it was returned because her hubby said it was too expensive), So I entered it.You can see the results! I think it would mean something if there had been any other entries though..... Hopefully I stirred some local interest, and I'll find some others who work with leather around here.

One of the last agricultural good times in my area is the Grange fair. More on that in another thread. There is a vendor area, and every year there's one of those cheap tool guys there with his $2 hammers and such, and as I'm checking things out, I see these edge creasers and rounders laying on the table. I grabbed up the creasers(already have rounders) and ask him how much? He tells me it's a package deal, hands me a box with the knife, a poundo-board and a piece of masonite, and all the tools, for $25! Sorry, just had to share.

Congrats, Ian! I haven't read that mag since '81 or so, when's yours coming out so we can all go buy it?

It's ironic that this thread appeared today, I was thinking the same thing. Tandy has a book- "How to quilt leather" #61974-00 $24.99. My wife is a quilter, I can't talk her into a leather one yet, though.
