  1. can't see that they have any horween scraps but thanks for the link anyway. figured folks on here would have a few small, tiny pieces i could buy off them to make some watchbands or a wallet or something.....pretty pathetic...
  2. no one can help me out with this huh????????
  3. a little simplistic description (takes more than that for it to look good) but yes.
  4. you oughta get rid of that speedy stitcher thing and use a proper saddle stitch on it best thing i ever did to improve my leatherwork.
  5. the split braid was the one asked about in the first post which is why i posted it but y'all go on ahead i'm done bye bye.
  6. if you've seen the video a bunch of times what's not making sense? he shows very explicitly exactly how to stitch correctly. it's easy enough even i can understand it and i'm apparently quite stupid. lol
  7. still need these items please i am a disabled veteran, but i am not asking for a handout. i have a small amount of cash. i'm just asking for a fair deal please. thanks
  8. this same thread is posted seven times...lol
  9. i make wallet chains and sell them. mine are pretty much the best you can get. i'm mostly self-taught though. like others on here with leather work it's taken me decades of learning, practice, and experience to get where i am now. most of the crap chains i see for sale on etsy are made of aluminum and look and feel VERY cheap and cheesy.
  10. i was just gonna let yall keep on calling it a "night latch" whatever that is.
  11. and before you ask, i don't have a scanner so i cannot scan it in and post it for you sorry.
  12. it's in Bruce Grant's encyclopedia on page 51. i think i posted that before but no one wanted to pay any attention to that. he doesn't call it a "night latch" and i've never seen it called that anywhere else either. if you don't wanna buy his book that shows how to do this maybe you should see if your local library has it or can get it.
  13. yeah it was sarcasm actually. there's the search feature and the etsy places you posted have been posted quite a few times by other people in other threads before.
  14. hey you should go look up every topic on here that mentions anything about "thread" and post this in all of them just in case someone somewhere may not see all the other ones.
  15. there are a lot of threads on here already that cover what you're asking for i don't have the time to go hunt them all down and post them all here for your convenience but maybe someone else can or will good luck
  16. life is full of choices and compromises. leatherwork is no different.
  17. how much does that backpack weigh? one thing i never liked about saddleback leather's bags is how heavy they are. hoping your design and materials make it lighter.
  18. there's nothing "snobby" about wanting your leatherwork to look like it was made by a professional instead of a three year old. don't let anyone try to tell you that and even if it was true which it's not just be true to what YOU want your finished product to look like. i personally want all my work to look like it was made by someone that knows what they're doing and takes pride in the finished product and there's nothing "snobby" about that. but like i said before it's not for everyone and you definitely have to have patience to learn various techniques correctly and then to execute those techniques correctly every time. it takes strict attention to detail also. i'm not trying to fault you because i struggle with these things also, but in the end the huge time i invest in my projects is worth it to me to make sure they look presentable. it probably isn't a bad idea to step away from it for a while and clear your mind. then if or when you come back to it later maybe you'll have a different outlook on it.
  19. leathercraft isn't for everyone. when it stops being enjoyable and fulfilling, i think it's probably time to move on. there's a ton of different crafts you can do with your hands if you want to try something else. But if it's frustrating it wouldn't hurt and can only help to set it down for a while (or longer) and try something else.
  20. that's what i do right now. all 100% USA materials, hardware, and hand-stitched by a disabled veteran. i believe it's important to support our own resources here instead of supporting some third-world country that probably doesn't like us much anyway.
  21. i'm gonna go with bridle leather or harness leather wicket & craig sells both.
  22. sounds like it might be 200D or 300D nylon packcloth. if that's what it is it will last a long time as long as it is not exposed to uv light. uv will kill nylon after a while. personally i would never use nylon in a fine leather item because i think it will cheapen the overall feel and quality of the item but that's just me.
  23. its alright hard to search for it if you don't know what folks on here call the process
