  1. Very cool must hide it from my wife she will want it!!! lol
  2. Not to bad but sadly you can not legal sell that unless you are licenced which is EXPENSIVE!! but I do like the concept though wouldn't you have to use some thick leather for that?
  3. Don't know why but of late been making a few leather bracers so here is the latest one, a tribal dragon. I just have to make up my mind if I want to use lace, strap and buckle, bag closure or snaps...TOO many choices!!!
  4. Yep I use the same dye I use on the grainside as well as on the back and hmm will have to look into getting a proper sealer then any suggestions I have hit the back of a few pieces with super sheen and that seemed to work (was just playing around and wanted to see what it would do)
  5. Very nice I like those. I have been trying to do a 21 strand mystery braid out of kangaroo hide...its not going well but damn it I will get it one day!!!
  6. Nope. I just buff the hell out of it after its dried for at least 24 hours then hit it twice with the aussie conditioner
  7. OK so how the hell do I stop an antquie gel from bleeding. I wore the bracer in the picture today for a few hours, just to see where I would or wouldn't catch the clasps on it but I noticed that the backside of the leather bleed onto my skin, thankfully its not that hard to get off flesh but how do I stop this from happening. I buffed the back side of the bracer as well as hit it with aussie conditioner and yet it still bled a little so how do I stop it? Really do not want that to happen to a customer!
  8. Love that and really cool idea to use a buckle on the strap like that!
  9. Ok decided to let the wife win this argument and closed the top skull off, here it is as it sits and dries off after using the black antique gel.
  10. Ok well here is the latest bracer I am working on. Going to hit the skulls with a bit of resist then going to cover the whole thing in black antique gel. But my wife is arguing with me over the top skull I like it open the way it is, but she says it needs to be closed off. So what do you all say to that open skull or closed skull. Personally I kind of like it open. By the way the spikes are skull spikes and are from Tandy.
  11. a bit of warning on the rotary cutters though, the blades are EASY to break I have snapped more then a few of them even on thin leather from getting the blade twisted on my cutting board.
  12. AH cool thanks Iwm803 then I can simply sell the bracers with the lace and let the customer worry about tieing them on lol. I was just wondering if there was a way to do it like a corset. With a corset you can make it so that the person wearing the corset can actually tie it off themselves, but then again they do have both hands free lol. Ok off to make a new bracer have some spikes I just got from tandy I want to play with hehe
  13. Thanks Squirrelly and yeah the steam punk look goes great with the latches (as it matches the corset as well) but honeslty still have no idea how to lace a bracer up by myself normaly need help from the wife lol.
  14. Iwm803 how do you do the laces up one handed just asking because I have not figured that one out yet lol.
  15. Thanks for the idea chief will have to give it ago, and as oldhat said a I use a rotary cutter myself for the thin leather and it works like a charm.
  16. I personally like it, and the zipper would hold better then the straps I would think. how hard is it to do a cylinder? I have yet to try that! And how well did the goatskin cut?
  17. Ok so kind of bored of late and decided to make a set of bracers to match the corset that I did (you can find that one here in the forum) just not sure which closure I like the best so what do you all think?
  18. True you can do what ever you want with the closures but I wasn't really sure that it would actually work and nope my initals are DM lol
  19. To me it looks like a mystery braid. Which means its actually one piece of leather ( would guess a 3 to maybe 4 braid) once its been "braided" it was dyed different colors. Look up Mystery braid as there is a really good tutorial on the forum here!
  20. I can see the point in using it in combat metal weapons and as I said armour but the reality is that it will not be stressed and unstressed on a daily baises where as a corset can have some serious pressure put it on it (its why I am using kangaroo for the lacing!) I just do not think wet molding is the best way to go for a corset..could be wrong though. Also love the fact that you can wet mold over combat metal where were you when I was doing refairs lol my axes could have used some serious leather work on them!
  21. Got bored and had a thought, first off can you use a bag closure to close off a leather cuff or not, second what the hell was I going to do with this bit of leather that had this rather large brand on it. Well here it is!!
  22. Ok been thinking about this wet molding the leather. For armor I can see the point in that, after all it is not going to be used in real combat so you want the person to be comfy in it, but would a wet molded leather actually hold up to the stress of the tight lacing? The rivets give the corset support as you tug and pull on the laces, over time yes leather will stretch but wouldn't the wet molded leather not hold up to the added stress of say a 4 or 5 hour tight lacing every day?
  23. Yeah the tails in the back might need to be cut but they are flexable enough, and no my wife can not fit into the corset she is a big girl, will have to find someone to try it on. Was not truly sure about the tails on the back but I like the way it came out. Thanks for the ideas and compliments all
