Get some scrap leather of a similar type* ( colour / weight ) to the wallet..Test on that..keep testing until you have the exact setting that you need..no rush. *Make sure that if the wallet is veg tan that you get veg tan, ( veg tan wallets are usually cow or calf ) or if it is chrome tan that you get chrome tan..if it is chrome tan , it will probably be calf ( usually smooth finish ), or goat ( usually sort of "pebbly" looking ) ..might even have a label in it that tells you what it is...or be "stamped" somewhere..."Genuine something". Btw..If you eventually want to do "carving", a very light burn is an easy way to get very accurate drawings onto leather to give you fine lines that you can then work on with your tools..a laser line of only a few px wide serves as a good guide for a swivel knife, or for cut outs with a scalpel blade..You can "burn" out a design completely with just the laser, but you may get charred edges that you don't want, depends on what the final colour will be. If the lines on that artwork are to close ( I still have not had time to test burn it here ) I can "open" the design up a bit..leave more "white space". If you have a graphics tablet, you could work on a copy ( always make a copy and work on that ) yourself..Don't need a Wacom, there are some very very good graphics tablets coming out of China now for far less that are "plug and play" on windows...large surfaces, with all the "bells and whistles"..right up to Cintiq equivalents ..for far less money..

First version with Name added..Burn version is in link.bmp about 2.2mb , ( click to see it, right click and "save image" to download it ) the image fits in 40mm wide with a few mm to spare either side is 994px x 787px.. Image on this page was re-sized to be around 600px x 475px to display here in browsers. You could use it to burn, but it would be smaller. Burn setting "Discrete" if using computer..power around 20-25 depth 10. Burn setting "Greyscale" if using USB key power around 5-10 ( might be less, like power 1 or 2 ) depth 10. Test first by burning onto card ( as cereal packet "cornflakes box", use the inside surface , not corrugated card ) or brownish, card like the piece supplied with the laser, if the leather is darker, you need less power..if it is lighter, you might need a bit more..only increase or decrease power by 2 steps..like 20 to 22, not 20 to 30..Blow the burn clean with your dust blower on the compressor rather than try to brush or wipe any charring dust off when finished. I hope the type style is OK, tried to keep it "light". I have not "test burned" either ..it is 04.00am here..( I'll test later Thursday afternoon ) But they should be OK on the settings I suggest above. So that anyone looking in can see the images in a size that the browser will show..I resized them down, to under 1.4mb total for direct display..The ones in the previous post are "burn ready" at 500DPI. and are much larger in data size, so the board here transforms them into "attachments" ( better for board bandwidth) that you can download if you really want to..But they are these images, but higher DPI and larger size. The machine that they are sized for is the one discussed in the thread here here started by toxo.

OK..began playing with this before I saw your reply..so..I'll get to the name and the exact size later..this size would burn at about 75 mm high x 50 mm wide ..actual lines would be a bit inside that size..I can shrink the "final" image ( with name ) to fit at 40 mm no problem..this is two quick versions.. One "line art", would burn as "black and white" ( basic, I can make it better ) .., The second is basic greyscale pencil type sketch..would burn as "discreet" ( basic, I can make it better, the background is grey Ican shift it to white, so it burns "transparent" )..can add name to either or both.. Going to eat..( finished cooking dinner, wife is giving me the sort of looks your dogs do back later or tomorrow..You can load ( copy and paste ) this type ( .bmp ) into the USB key ( pictures folder ) and then go to the "pictures" folder in there via the touch screen, they'll be at the bottom of the list when you use the buttons to scroll down.. I'd go with the second one ..you could use the first but you'd have to convert to greyscale , or BW half tone and then either "dither" it or run a "half tone" screen.. Got the pm.. I'll copy both pics and sew what I can do with them after eating or tomorrow..If I can get either of them to "burnable", I'll test here on the machine first..What size ( in mm x mm ) Width x Height , do you need as the maximum burn image dimensions ?.. Do you want Misty's name including as an inscription ? She was a Westie ? or a Cairn ?..( they look similar when they are very young ) My wife had a Yorkie when we met ( one of the big ones )..I have an airbrush illustration I did of him when he was a pup somewhere. I read Greyfriar's Bobby when I was about 5..stayed with me..went to see the statue when I was about 17..and again a few times later..great wee dogs..friendly, playful, fierce to defend their family, faithful to the end..and beyond..

Photo did not upload.. Re FW..search "fireworks MX photo to line drawing" and "fireworks MX how to photo to line drawing" Paul..if this is for the laser..? use the "discreet" setting..it will take longer..but it will keep the detail..make test burns on carton* ( paper will burn right through on almost all settings , even white paper ) which is about as "dark" as your leather to get the settings..The paler the thing that you are burning into, the higher your "power setting" has to be..leave depth at 10.. Btw..I ( with the aid of the people who I bought my laser from ) have solved the "text" issue in that software..I'll work up a "how to make and burn text" that matches the version 2.1 software ..pm me here with your outside email, when I have it ready with "step by step"..I'll send it to you...Busy ATM, so It may be a couple of weeks.. * This is why they ship the machines with what they call "craft paper", which in their case, is actually about 200gsm mid brown card stock.

I'd put an insulated end cap ( the screw on type ) on each one as soon as you know what they are , to stop them touching each other ( or anything else ) and "shorting out"..sparking and so on..

This thread from 2017 "here" might be useful to you.
-
Thanks again Bert, I missed that one 1st time around. :)
-
".is there an attachment available for a “walking foot” or is there any way to enable it to serve that function? " No..it is a machine for high speed garment sewing, textiles..not leather ..

What Bill said..If you are going to buy a silent compressor, get one with a tank.."No Pulsing" is Vital for smooth fades and detailed illustration. Not everyday that one sees "plenum" in a post..or hears it in conversation used correctly, gladdens the heart, well played Bill :)..will raise glass later to you*, when the sun has passed below the yardarm here :) *for the second time in recent weeks :)

Make one..fridge motor ( from a fridge that has a working one but is otherwise scrap ) and fire extinguisher ( used , emptied and cleaned out ).., a few tubes, air hose connectors, a pressure gauge , a feed regulator and a pressure switch, some 2mm steel plate..4 rubber feet a few nuts and bolts....oh and a release valve that will kick at 11* bar..that is basically what the small ones ( 6litre size tanks ) are made like..Most airbrushing needs to go no higher than 1.5 to 2.0 bar..tank needs to be able to stand 10 bar..pressurises to 8 bar..drops to 6 bar switches on again Probably some youtube how to's out there..Used to be ..take you an afternoon max.. You can drop the max bar to 6..restart at 4 ( *release valve set to 7 to match ) ..depends on what your tank ( extinguisher ) is rated for.. An inverter type stick welder or a MIG or TIG is handy to make the mounting bracket for the motor etc to fix to the extinguisher and some feet for it..You could do the welding with "bottles", but electric is stronger.. Or.. You can use an empty gas bottle, charge it with air from your compressor in the shed day time..and then use it inside as an air resrve night time..car tyre inner tube ( mounted inside a car tyre on a wheel, so as to stop it going "bang"!! ) will work too**, but gas bottles can take a higher pressure..take off the gas tap ( carefully , rinse out thoroughly ) DIY a new regulator , pressure gauge and and fill system valve on to fit where the gas tap came out of..Don't over pressure the gas bottle..The max pressure rating is marked on it stay a couple of bars under that. **harder to rig up a filler and feed gauge and regulator system on a "tyre tank", but do-able..fill to max 5 or 6 bars.. light truck tyre ( six wheeler transit ) is best, can take 6 bar..and is not much bigger than a car tyre..and because they have a dish design..you can sit it on the floor or carpet ( "dish side down " ) without it leaving marks..

"By ‘standalone’ I meant a website over which I have absolute control." prestashop is that..Fully responsive..built in payments system.. free :) ( modules can be bought, you won't need them ) Full instructions manuals, support forums even for the free versions.. You just need the domain name registered and if you want to make it "one click install" ..hosting with cpanel control .. Before you go further..pm me ( I'll get back ) ..I have no connection with prestashop ( get no money for mentioning it ) ..but know it well..can recommend very reliable, very reasonable price EU based hosting "includes domain name registration", "unlimited space, unlimited domains, unlimited data transfer, unlimited emails, Secure HTTPS.. anti DOS..private data centre, manned 24/7/365 , telephone or email support in multiple languages.. to actual "techs" , not sales staff ) that you can set it up and run it ( and unlimited other domains ) from..also I have no financial interest in them, but I use them for some things..Have done for many years ..I'm a very satisfied customer. ps..I'm not looking to build any websites for anyone..prestashop ( and other one click installers ) build themselves..Others here build websites ( wiz for example ) as part of their businesses, I only build my own these days..not looking ,( nor touting, ) for business.. :)

Ah..I hadn't looked at your source code to see that indeed what appears to be your "standalone" website is powered by etsy..You could use prestashop* ( free ) and "skin it" ( I see that you code ) to match your current design..and the back end payments systems connects to whichever bank(s) etc that you want it to.. That would not hurt SEO in any way..you could run a "standalone" site shop and also your etsy shop..you would not be competing with yourself for SERPs. :) ..You might even get lucky and get a "six pack" in G SERPs, despite what they claim about having "dialled that effect back" it still is very frequent, and can be "engineered" ( without incurring penalties )to happen in certain geo search markets , niches .. Other "shopping site platforms" are available..but prestashop is easy to install and run, and pretty secure ( as much as anything with UGI can be ) ..or you could "roll your own" ..your designs show "lateral thinking"..your "marketing" will benefit from the same approach. :)

Marius..re your "logo"..Better to link the logo to https://www.leatherhubpatterns.com/ for people wishing to buy your patterns..unless you are happy to keep paying etsy the commission on every sale that you make..make it so that you can be found via etsy and directly..if you want to be found. :)

There are so many current articles in the mainstream media in the UK and France ( and other countries ) about people of various nationalities having their passports kept by their employers..( depending upon who the employer is is apparently relevant as to if the law that you quote is actually enforced* ) in particular those foreign nationals working on the stadia there in preparation for sporting events etc..or those working for Qatari nationals in particular. Even Qataris in France have been in the courts ( well they would have if some of them had not gone back to Qatar , and sent their lawyers instead ) for "employing" ( I use the term in quotes , because making people ( "live in" female domestic staff, frequently Philipinas and Sri Lankans ) work 24 hours per day 6 or 7 days per week for meagre wages that are in fact never paid, or which have "board and lodging" deducted from them leaving the "employee" in permanent debt to the employer..is not in my, nor the court's opinion "employing"..it is slavery ) ..their employers in each case took their passports and kept them..They were not prosecuted in Qatar..Perhaps because of who they were ..in Qatari Society / "Royalty". I never claimed to be a "Professional Internet Researcher" ..That is your phrase..I ( in one of my businesses ) work as an independent "consultant", "involved in internet research"..( Nuance is all ) ..I do not take the sole word of a government's website ( any government, but particularly a gulf state, having lived in various of them for a while** ) as to how their laws are applied in practice..In my youth I have partied in various countries ( including Gulf States ) with many high ranking members of "Gulf Society", whose people at that time would have been shocked at how their rulers behaved once in the west , or behind the walls of their palaces..Many of the "ex-pats" then as now, chose to pretend such things never happened or happen..otherwise one's visa might be revoked and one might find oneself on the next flight out..or worse.. **I would not live there now, nor would I visit, despite my contacts there still being very highly placed, one reason being, as has been seen over the past few years, one's host can be "in" when one boards the plane..and "out"..disappeared, in house arrest, or jail , or no longer living, due to "non natural causes" by the time one lands..even in the "highest of families". Very partial to my liberty and that of those around me and of all the people ' high and low" , male and female, citizens and foreigners, in the countries in which I live ( both physical liberty and liberty of expression ) I am... ..a lesson learned with age, some things are not negociable , nor for sale..at any price.. *Who one knows or who one is determines what laws are enforced..or ..not enforced upon the employers. As I said previously..I wish success to all involved in your latest venture..including yourself obviously :) Edited to add ..I Just checked the USA gov't and the UK govt official "travel advisories" for Qatar..both are "treat as normal" ( level 1 ) in the case of USA..and nothing special to advise against Qatar on the UK official gov't advisories.. Check your official gov't websites before going anywhere ( France included ) and make sure to notify your embassy or consulate that you are resident or visiting..Given the current political climate in the Gulf ..and the rhetoric from certain sides there..it might yet "kick off" even in a limited way ..hopefully it will not, limited or otherwise ..stay safe.. :)

So..any prospective employee now knows as much about their prospective boss as he wished to know about them..which is as it should be :) Now ..lunch calls :) ..I wish everyone success :) ps..I just remembered..am I correct in thinking that in Qatar employees have to surrender their passport to their employers ( which the employer keeps ) in order to be able to be employed..? I have more than the one passport, so any such laws pose no problem for me personally ( and I'm not looking to work for you or anyone else : ) but such laws can leave the employee who only has the one passport, at the "mercy" of the goodwill of the employer, and unable to leave the country unless the employer is in agreement..Just a thought to be born in mind for anyone thinking of going to any country to be employed by anyone..Check that.

Ah ..There are two Matt Attenboroughs in Qatar ? "Also I am not sure about the companies house entry since we have never registered with them. " Matt Attenborough..Doha, Qatar The internet is a wonderful thing..allows ( if the subject of one's researches joins linked in et al ) anyone to research prospective employees, their employment history ..or prospective bosses.. their business history .. Btw..I have had many businesses..that in itself is not a "red flag" if it were "I'd have enough to have a parade"..but I never denied having any of them..even the ones I closed down or sold, or asked companies house to dissolve. No aggressiveness in my comments at all there Matt :) ( I just read your pm )..just watching out for members and anyone who might be reading..One of my still current businesses ( nearly 20 years old now ) is involved in internet research..I "consult" for a branch of the French Tax authorities ( and others ) sometimes. I've also been ( still am "an ex-pat" ) in in many places, including the Gulf..The "ex-pat" communities in all countries resemble each other somewhat..especially the anglophone ones :)

I find the fact that you photograph the place of business through a locked security grill from outside, and that there is no actual location on your website for your store..( although there is a contact address for the website ) somewhat intriguing..do you own the store / café in that photo ? Photos taken from inside it with customers there, rather than what appears to be from outside when it is closed to the public, and to your photographer, would be more convincing. Btw some people pay taxes in their "home" country no matter where they may earn them..so those salary figures $3,000 to $4,000 per month ( low for Doha, Qatar ) may be before taxes to many. Presumably you will be sending a pre paid return air ticket ( which cannot be cancelled ) to any successful candidates, so that they do not risk finding themselves in Qatar with a job that doesn't match the description, having handed over their passport, paid their own airfare to get there, and no way home without paying for their own ticket.. Personally I would not touch this with a very long bargepole..even less so were I female..stock photos, and images of "the workplace" taken through locked security grills screams fishy. note.. website mentioned in OP exists..domain name was Created on 2018-09-03 ..since that time 4 IP changes in 1 year. site hosted in Germany..domain registered at tucows..domain owner details are withheld / private. Domains owned by companies are normally unable to keep their registration details private. registration is probably to an individual. a search for matt attenborough qatar will give background on the OP. The companies house entry caught my eye.."company dissolved" after 1 year. Product page from the website https://www.thedromedaryclub.com/leathers/ from my curiosity led searches elsewhere , Matt appear to run events where one ( " expats in Qatar" ) can pay to learn how to make coffee and buy the coffee maker machine ;)..and leather working classes, 100 QR no refunds..the RV dealership business appears to have ceased.
