  1. I think she would be proud for me to buy milk in 1/2 pints over 10 hides. Also, remember I'm just a lowly hobbyist having fun.
  2. Thanks Jeff. I can totally see buying in bulk from the tannery over paying retail for lesser grades. But as a hobbyist my wife would shoot me if I spent 2 grand on dead cows. So I'll be paying that retail price one hide at a time.
  3. I have to say I'm totally impressed. When I saw the original post I laughed out loud at the idea of making a round knife out of a saw blade. It looks fabulous. Thanks for teaching me something today.
  4. Cool. Learn something new everyday. What was the purpose of carrying it across the front? Seems like it would get in the way of running and such.
  5. Looks great. Is it traditional to carry such a knife edge upwards?
  6. While the experts are following the thread, i have a question. Which is more versatile, cylinder arm or a post machine?
  7. Not to discourage the creative nature of a fellow leather lover,but....if you just need them for cosplay..... You could find something similar at an off brand motorcycle apparel shop for 10 to 15 bucks.
  8. Me neither. But recently i started investigating the machines just out of curiosity. Mostly because there are so many posts concerning them. From what i can gather, anything less than a 2000.00 dollar investment will fall short of what i would be happy with. That's a lot of scratch for a hobby. Maybe someday I can justify it or just afford it and get one. Till then it's hand stitches for me.
  9. Great job. It doesn't look remotely tactical. Which I think is an accomplishment in itself.
  10. I quit using my groover. I use the divider instead. I only use my groover now to make little tracks in things I'm glueing together.
  11. I would like this but can't do anything before Friday. I will follow the thread and see if it's still available then. Good luck in your new endeavors.
  12. Nigel at armitage leather has an eight pack of templates for 10 pounds with all sorts of pocket options. Look him up on YouTube. It includes some nice styles of wallets. Jlsleather has a few free wallets on his site plus lots of free holster downloads. If you are looking for acrylic templates, looking for wuta acrylic templates on Amazon. They run about 12-20 bucks. Hope this helps, have fun.
  13. Thanks you for all you do.
  14. Great idea.
  15. Springfield Leather has some good starter sets. I even read in the description that if you already have a few of the tools in the set they will work with you on swapping or omitting tools in the set. I would call them. In the beginning, I bought a lot of things (from tandy) I never use in. Have fun.
  16. If you did all that in less than an hour and a half, you sir are a work horse. I'm looking forward to seeing someone's idea of how to do it faster.
  17. I don't care for the bug bites. Not sure I have run across many scars in my limited experience, but I like the other traits listed. I think the stretch marks are pretty cool. I would totally buy something with a brand on it if I was in the market for something. But, since I can make my own stuff now I'm not in the market.
  18. Oh my God!!! Is this the video that shows you how to do everything to do wrong? Maybe I'm being to hard on myself. Perhaps I could graduate beyond hobby level. Hahaha
  19. Haven't tried that, yet. Thanks .
  20. Thanks. I love me some free information.
  21. I think it looks great. The carving is a tad rustic, but there's nothing wrong with rustic. I'm not an expert by any means but I think natural thread would have looked better against the carving color. Good job.
