  1. now that's funny! I was thinking about watching The Howling tonight instead of more leatherwork. great job on it so far! gonna put a full moon in the upper righthand corner?
  2. this one was one big headache from start to finish for some reason. enlarged the soft sides a bit from the first one and added a liner. used a background tool on the design to see how that would come out. I like it. now can anyone tell me what's special about the tooled design? heh heh heh
  3. way to go using basically found material! nicely done.
  4. nice clean, classy design!

    Lace pattern??

if you look closely, you can see that the stitch spacing lines up with the "dips", and there's thread ran at an angle to create the dips. do a saddle stitch but leave an extra 3/8"-1/2" on the edge to create the rope effect.
  6. heh, that's the same stain I used on the bag I did. you're right about it being thick! how'd you apply yours? lots of rubbing (in a circular motion *L*) and a few coats on mine to mostly even out the color.
  7. ya mean there's a pattern for this thing?!?! no fair! the rest of us made up our own. cheaters!
  8. that's "basics"?!?!?!? good grief man, that ain't basic, that's impressive!
  9. it's a bit of a shame to stick a common boxcutter in a sheath that nice.
  10. tina thanks and yep, used a tippman boss to do it. the color is actually accidental since I was going for something else. fortunately I was able to get this look after the boo-boo. *L* gonna try a few changes with the next one though. add a lining and a couple other things. see how that works out.

welcome aboard da board! if the rest of your stuff is as good as those are, you definitely have no probs in the tooling area.
  12. steve not sure what ya mean by there being a break in the carving at the chin. took a very close look at the bag coz I was worried I might have missed something wrong but there's no prob there and not really any stress in that area and considering the size of the bag, it'd be kinda hard for anyone to put in so much stuff that I doubt there'll ever be a prob with it splitting. I can see that being a prob with some things though and have thought about that before. do appreciate the look-out though! beeza thanks! now let's see one from you too! you could do one that matches seat you've made for a couple's bike. *L*
  13. oo! oo! "creature"! coz it reminds me of the creature from the black lagoon.

    Pebbler Tool

nope. checked at tandy the other day. they don't carry 'em.
  15. looks great to me! now let's see more!
  16. steve thanks much! was trying to do it a little different than the other "scary ass bags" (*L*) on here. spider I like mine so I recommend 'em. just expect to spend a bit of time with it to get used to it and calibrated to what you want. tom um.. yeeeeah... handstitching... okaaaay. you stick to that m'man! *L* weekend? dunno what that is! I thought "week" was just another word for "several years". *L* roo many thanks! I don't blame ya for avoiding stitching. I avoided it like the plague until I got my machine. and you definitely need to get ya a workspace soon so you can turn out even more lovelies.
  17. tom thanks! I stitched the sides like doing the wallets. front to front, the folded it over the edge and did the second stitch which you can see, and did it solid from one end to the other. made for some interesting holding while stitching, I tell ya! instructions?!?! we don' need no steenkin' instructions! spider thanks too! I stitched the top edge of the sides with a kenmore and stitched the rest of it a tippman boss. those are the only 2 machines I have and I refuse to stitch by hand. *L*
  18. well, I decided to give a go at the bag a couple of others made (and I envied their skills), so here it is. I even managed to learn a couple things along the way, such as when the directions say "apply in a circular motion" it doesn't mean rub in. at least I was able to even out the color for the most part. overall though I'm very pleased with the way it came out and will probably be adding these to the myriad other items I make to sell. joy. more work. anyway, leme know what you guys think!
  19. now that's some dedication to a candy! LOL do the m's and the edge in red and tell 'em "oops". lookin' good!
  20. now that's a lot of work! came out great!
  21. personally, I use an exacto knife for some patterns and a large rolling cutter by fiskars. depends on the pattern. others use a head knife, some use a utility knife, etc etc. I'd say play around with different things if possible and then use what you like best.

    Two new masks

love 'em! the owl reminds me of a character that was in the book (or at least the series the book's from) "a wind in the door".
  23. hhbraider thanks very much! that last one was worth it... I think. *L* roo yep, me bug spray failed me on this one. *L* and that pinchy thing on that one was annoying! ack! lots o' lines! steve danke! maeshin that last one took what seemed forever! I'm slow to begin with doing this stuff and carving, plus I make a template for everything so I can do more with variations, so between drawing the design, cutting it out, cutting out the mask, airbrushing, molding, drying and sealing... um... er... ah... dunno? *L* think about a day probably.
  24. snazzy work on the outfit, but I think your model needs a little bit of a tan. *L*
  25. tom now why is it that every time I do one with top points everybody thinks Batman? *L* wait 'til ya see the armor I've been slackin' on. THEN ya can say Batman! *L* and I kinda like the shiva idea, so yeah, that's it. shiva. I always have an idea before I start and do a template out of posterboard first. and the ideas jsut kinda pop into me head. scary, yes? *L* haven't seen the show but sounds like fun. maybe I should actually watch tv every now and then. clay thanks! I keep trying. that's why I keep posting 'em up here for feedback when I get a couple done.
