  1. Happy birthday my friend!!!!! and many, many more!
  2. Well, since we all love pictures.....Here is a scrap project. I needed a coodinating pouch for my multitool that matched the new belt.... This is what I came up with. I know the lacing is terrible, I had a blow out on the left side, (Bad scrap) and had to repunch the holes on the inside. The flap is uneven and I didn't have enuf lace to do the multiple holes to make it close in better (literally had 1 3/4 inch left!) But it serves the purpose, and since I am still a learning amatuer, I am happy with it! what do ya think?

Nice color bro! And yes it looks as good as you described!
  7. Every time I see one of your works I am amazed!! The imagination used is fantastic!! Keep it up! You might not want to answer, or you may have already, but I have to ask...... Where do you get the interior fabrics...they are killer!!! There are not many wallets I would pay for to carry in my pocket, yours fit the bill!!
  8. great work.... Someday I will try my hand at this.......Maybe! Very nice basketweave....clean! Keep up the superb work!
  9. Thanks to one of my wonderful friends...yes a member here....CECIL, I decided to try my hand at tooling a belt for myself. I got the floral pattern out of the Lucky 8 Belt book that we sell. The tools were hand drawn as was my makers mark in place of a name. I am very happy with the results, I think it turned out really good for my first attempt. Thanks to Cecil for giving me the courage to go at it! I see now that belts are probably my bane, as they are much more difficult to carve because of the space available. But I am sure that this won't be my last!!! Let me know what you think!!!! sorry about the pic quality, I think my camera is dyin'!
  10. thanks for all the kind words! It was a lot of fun! Yes, the wife loved them! I am beeming with pride...I made her happy! As for delivery and price, yes 6pm is possible for one meeeeellion dollars!!!!! (gotta rent a Lear..)
  11. I thought I would share with you my last project. A gift for my wonderful wife for Valentine's Day. We have been married for a FEW years, at first I would buy her roses, and each time she would keep one bud and dry it and put it in a VERY LARGE Glass vase. Well, after about 6 years, it was overfull! And we made a deal no more real flowers, it's just thrown away money and they wilt anyway. So I found a place to get gold dipped roses, no wilting!!! And I did that for a few years....Now we got a bunch of gold roses that she is afraid someone will break in for, so they get locked up....... So this year, I decided to use my talent in leather and make her some of the best Roses she has ever seen!!! No wilting!!!! and they aren't exactly a stock exchange commodity..... so for your approval here they are..... Everything is leather except the insides of the stems. Those are cut up coat hangers. And I also cheated on the wet formed vase and used a core. Kinda turned out ok, I think!
  12. Nice clean work! Can's wait to see the finished product!!!!
  13. Yup that's the one! If you want to make sandals I highly recommend it!
  14. The leatherworking virus!!!! And I know that everyone here understands just how addicting this artform can become, so we try to draw as many people in as possible! I have also been steering customers and students the way of this site as well for tips and ideas and great atmosphere. As promised in another thread, here are some pics of the class this past weekend at the store. As you can see we were teaching the fine art of sandal making via the old Tandy Sandal Making book. Sometimes, we need a bigger table! But as usual everyone had a great time. Hope no one minds these types of pictures and topics!
  15. anyone here ever used Tandy Block Out to do your roses?? It gives them a pretty nice scent and makes em look GREAT!
  16. Thank your daughter for ALL of us! Beautiful craftsmanship! Welcome to the asylum!
  17. The chunk of wood is left over scrap from different projects and just laminated together. It was actually made for me by a customer who knew I was doing the class. While I can't speak as to procedure at all Tandy stores, my store has classes every Sat. We offer a basic carving class in the mornings, consisting of tutorial and hands on tool usage right out of the leathercrafter handbook. This is the opportunity to introduce new people to the leatherwork madness!!! It also allows the new crafter to leave the class with a finished carving. Most Saturdays we have new crafters just itching to learn! In the afternoon we offer different advanced classes, ranging from mask making, to lacing/stitching to large projects. We try to encourage our customers to help us decide on class topics. We set a schedule 2 months in advance.....and pretty much stick to it! Some of our project classes are the most fun and the fullest classes and will take multiple visits to accomplish. For the next three Saturdays our students will be making leather sandals. I'll try to get some pics today of the class and share with y'all. We have done the tool carriers, belt classes, classes on dying and finishing with our products, we try to give the new leatherworker a decent start from which to build.
  18. here is a decent (read "not blurry") photo of the back side...... Enjoy!
  19. as requested. The holder is black walnut. No I didn't finish the inside of the leather, didn't see the need. Hope this gives everyone some ideas!!!
  20. Nicely done grasshoppa! I think the finished project really shows the amount of time you have put into learning and getting better! There is no BAD practice. The more you do, the better you get. now think what you can do with a few more months of practice! Keep it up!
  21. Thank you brothers and all for the compliments! I forgot pics of the inside, they will be forthcoming later today.
  22. Just a bored Sunday afternoon project....... Was much easier than making the full size ones! amazing what you can do with some scrap. I shoulda taken a pic of the back. I "tooled" the belt using the southwest set of stamps. Great conversation piece!
  23. nicely done! I agree the colors are great and yes, it is original!
