  1. Hey folks! I have an old friend who cuts hair and beutifys folks for a living. She is in need of a good wrap around toolbelt so I told her I could make her one of course. I told her to find a pic on the web of one that is similiar to want she wants and then tell me what she wants different on it. But I thought I would ask here in case anybody has done one before or has any ideas. I plan to do it like a toolroll that can hang around her waist from a belt or strap. Any ideas? William
  2. I tried and came up with grey as well. I didn't have many rusty items laying around so I was thinking it was a strength issue as well. I have some walnuts and vinager I am mixing up this morning to try to make a batch of brown. William
  3. Looks great Southpaw! Especially for a first. We are all here to help ourselves as well as others improve so dont worry about the 'all sorts a errors' you see.... They just add character to the piece. My first freehand lacing project had the laces different lengths from the edges and all kindsa stuff...LOL William
  4. I love the whole thing Tina but the two tone lacing blows me way! Wonderful!!!! William

  10. Hey folks! I'm sorry I haven't posted much lately, but I started work at the local Tandy just before I left for Fall Camp and I have been busy ever since!!! LOL The store is still damaged from the storm (landlords being a pain) and it is crazy. We have lsot abotu a third of our wall space and everything had to be rearranged and cramped where-ever it would fit. The good news for the board is that I am giving the LW forum info out to everybody that says they are jsut starting or needs more help than we can offer them. So far at least one person a day, usually more!!!! Well, I gotta leave in ten minutes to head to 'work'.... Talk to ya all later!! William
  11. I have never heard of them, but I might give them a try for few little things. I have a hard time buying leather over the net. I need to see and feel a piece first. I am a hands on guys for that kinda stuff. William

  14. Hey Nick! Your case looks great! We all see "flaws" in our own work. That is natural. We have a picture in our head of how it should look brfore we even start... Then once we build it and real world physics kick in, the image is never the same..hence we notice the 'flaws'. Your case came out great and anybody should be proud to carry it!!!! Good job and keep posting pix! William
  15. Hey David! I doubt you can use the discount on the wholesale club purchase, but my Tandy gives the wholesale club discount to customers on their first purchase at our store. Just as a thank you for trying us out kinda thing...... William

  18. Hey Goldwing! You shouldn't be blown away by the work here buddy because your own work is wonderful!!!! I love the combo case! It is outstanding! It looks wonderful and I bet your friend's son is going to be proud to have your work to go with his own..... William
  19. I survived!!!! Hey folks! I'm back and we had a blast!!! I actually got all but 1 Scout thru the entire Merit Badge. He had to leave camp early and missed the last day... The attached photo is a group shot we did on the last day of class. You can see the Scouts holding their projects (mostly knife cases or coin wallets) and a leather walking stick grip I made for each of them as a class souviner. The grip has the Camp K brand on it. I had 3 assistants; my son (big moose in back holding his brand upside down), the Boy Scout in back on my right and a Girlie Scout standing in front of me. They were all a huge help! I can't wait to go back next year and do it again!!!! I was so excited when one of the boys told me this was his favorite merit badge class he had ever taken!!!!!!!!! If you want to see more pix from the class go to my Facebook album at the following link. It should be public so everybody can view it. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3145...p;id=1632283152 William
