  1. This is my portable bbq cooker. Its supposed to be a copy of a real medieval camp stove - yeah, right. I saw a similar one in Anne Hathaway's* cottage about 7 years ago. I thought it was real but it turned out to be one of these repros The box is about a foot cube and stands on four legs. Below the box is the ash pan. It can be placed on picnic benches whilst cooking and it won't harm the table. It has a big loop handle so it can be carried with charcoal burning in it. It's a good and efficient burner but a devil to clean out the ashes. I used to make the lunches on it for my medieval team. It used to get lots of attention. Now I just get it out occasionally to cook me a burger or two I think I might take to a company and get it grit blasted to clean off that rust before it gets too bad * Will Shakespeare's wife
  2. On the UK market the pattern packs go for between £25 and £40 depending on the subject
  3. Looks very nice Is it comfy?
  4. If it has stench I'd not use it at all, Something in it is 'off' and could affect the leather. Just dispose of it properly and write off its cost to experience
  5. All the Tandy pattern packs. They've discontinued many of them. Not enough value to retire on but worth several $$$ each Any old leather how-to-do books, especially ones on carving
  6. I bought an air-soft 1911A1. Compared to the real gun it looks identical. Cost was about £25 several years ago but they still sell for that or even less
  7. There was discussion recently which included talk about large oval punches for holsters I can't remember where it was or by whom, but if I find it I'll post a link edit; check this thread out
  8. Cow horn can be re-formed by boiling water, a constant rolling boil. But water boils at different temperatures according to how high you are above MSL
  9. A polythene measuring cup, with the bottom cut off. The polythene will be flexible enuf to deform but re-take its shape

    New hat.

Unusual in nice sort of way Are you going to form a Wizzard tribute band now?
  12. @Handstitched how about wrist bracers with the leftovers, or this; Thats a 'leather' type covering held on by elastic or something. The 'spikes' or 'teeth' are curved to meet our police regulations, but I reckon you could do something similar with the pointy spikes. Also, if you use an old non-reusable helmet you could just drill though it to fit the spikes
  13. @Handstitched you'll be real popular (not ) taking to the field in football games!
  14. No, not part of the press. These are tiny bicycle lights which I found. Not very expensive, (about £/$2.50 each) very bright and rechargeable via a USB lead. I have two on the press for lighting up my work. They are held in place with sticky pads
  15. Not much room either top to bottom or from the ram to the back
  16. Only a bit, mostly with thin flexible leathers I use a wax block to punch thru to. It lubes the hole punch every time
  17. I use glazed pigskin. Thin & stiff
  18. Slow setting contact glue
  19. a. the drill chuck being rotatable is good as you can fine tune the alignment b. I have one of Tony's patterns and there is a quadzillion holes to punch. The press & 6 hole punch really speeds it up c. The press I have doesn't have a large reach so I can't do holes towards the centre of the pattern with the press (oh dear, how sad, never mind!) I take my pattern out side to do those holes d. you have a good height on that drill press. The leather press I have hasn't great height and I had to replace the bar on my multi-hole punch with a much shorter one and cut down the single types
  20. There have been many threads about this subject over the years. Some ppl use a drill press, some use an arbour press and I use a Tandy Pro-Press
  21. Very nicey indeedy But . . . . we like more information, eg what weight or thickness of leather did you use? What thread? Stitching chisels or awl ? I see you didn't dye it but there is something on the edges, what?
  22. Please post your photos directly on here. Over time, for various reasons photos hosted on other sites go away making the posting here empty Would that be dieselpunk.ro? His patterns are well liked You get used to it A good plan
  23. Depends on what exactly you want to cut; I bought a picture framers matte cutter. Its hand held and meant for cutting picture board to make mattes. They can be bought for about £/$10 - £/$20 Like this
  24. @dikman I bought the plastic templates out of China on ebay. I've found them on Temu as well. They're very cheap. About £/$5 for all five Just the other day I found clicker dies for a couple of them on Temu. I bought the elephant one for £11
  25. Sorry to hear of this attack I hope you are resting and recovering Bulldogs of certain breeds and XL Bulldogs are banned throughout the UK and Ireland because of such attacks and the killings they made
