I'm hoping Sanch will chime in. I think he uses a drill and belt sander to turn his handles. They look perfect. I used barges for my gluing discs together. Hobby Lobby!

there are some nice tutorials on the braiding leather thread for wrapping a metal ring. Also you can try the stitching a leather handle technique. Check you tube for that one. Just a thought but you can glue down some poly and wrap leather over it.

those are handy. for detailed work or, I've found if you've marked your leather with pencil a 'kneaded eraser', works well. Also a 'rubber cement eraser' can come in handy. both are drafting tools, cheap at any art store. Good advice! art is art. There are crossovers that people never realize till someone try's it out.

I may not know much, but I can see a fad coming. How do you stain leather pink. Not paint. I could sell pink tool belts all day long!

I just paid my money. I have found that a lot of my disagreements are not founded but found. I have no benefits from donating. I just like the site and the education it provides. I did a search on the Husky line. They look nice. The Seville line is about half the price, or was at Sam's Club. I love it. very sturdy with addons that can mac out a shop.

Maybe, but that was for photo purpose only. I'd just finished that project. check out my 'Clam on the Half Shell' thread. I used a $20 swivel clamp from Amazon to hold mine perpendicular to my bench. You might want a 'leather' clamp, about $30 bucks on amazon or ebay. You can make your own that price and be proud of it. I've said it before but, improvise. We are only restrained by the limits of our imagination. Imagination has no limit so anything is possible. PS get a swivel art lamp. you can clamp it to your desk and shine the light where you need to.

I wish I could say, 'done', but I still have more to do. I used an oil based leather dye for the black, I used a small art brush. It wasn't quite dry and I went over it with a red oak wood stain. yeah a wood stain over leather. it started to blend. a fortunate accident ( I went back in with touch up on the black to create sunburst of a sort). now I hope this thing dries hard after a couple of days.

I'm with mutt, I'd love to know. this is very thin. I think there are stretch marks on the tree limbs. I'm going to try out the glue. This was maybe stretched to the max over a form, form removed, then folded with a tool. maybe back filled to hold the shape? There are always several ways to get where you are going. Just saw mIkesc post. Awesome!

I saw it on youtube. That guy used a press I don't have So I drilled a hole the same diameter as the copper tube. I used a 'nail set?' not sure of the name, it has a conical head. Hammered it. There are pinned instructions for the handle on the braiding forum. I used my braiding leather book. ps I was going to wrap the base of my leather with copper, then I found these wonderful copper tacks at lowes today. Improvise. adapt. never commit to a single idea.
