  1. You might try adjusting the pressure foot to give it more pressure so it can hold the thicker material down. This is the large screw on the top leftside.
  2. No,the max thread size for the 241 is #207
  3. We sell alot of Singer 153 & Cowboy 227R (which is the same as Consew 227R) to people for this type of sewing. It has a cylinder arm, walking foot, needle feed & reverse. The Singer 153 doesn't have reverse.
  4. #1 did you turn it back down as far as it was before? #2 loosen the locknut if it has one,# 3 oil the shaft @ the top & bottom where it runs through the bushing
  5. I doubt if changing the feet will make a difference, there's an adjustment on the back where you can loosen a nut & slide it down & the feet will lift higher when they walk.Let me know if you need more info I have a machine like it here now that I could send pics from if needed. We can also get parts if needed.
  6. If you leave the feed dog in when trying to use these needle plates it will hit the bottom of the plate & either break some major part or just bind up the machine.
  7. Ok,now I see what's wrong, you need to move the bar that the feed dog fastens to back, loosen the screw that the screwdriver is pointing to in this pic & push the bar back so it doesn't hit .
  8. When installing a new feed dog & plate, leave the 2 feed dog screws loose & put the plate on then you can tighten the screws & it should line up.
  9. Here's some info from a Singer manual, use screw marked "AC" for tension adjustment.
  10. Hello, I'd say the best way to find out what it's worth is to put it on ebay, but then she'd have to be able to ship it,so I would guess something around $1,200.00 should be a fair price.
  11. I'd buy them all day long for that price!! Yes,we have parts for it.
  12. It should sew up to 20 oz(5/16") of leather & use #138 thread easily.Parts, needles & feet are real easy to get.
  13. Try it & let me know what happens. That was biggest problem they wanted $3.00 each!!
  14. I agree w/CD it looks like a 31-15 BUT the model# is on the oval brass tag on the front,if there was alittle more light on it in the pics I could read it.
  15. He's right you have to lower the needlebar down to make the 7x3 needles work & then it will sew only 1/2" do to the end of the needlebar hitting to foot.Which is ok if you don't need to sew very thick but I doubt if it'll work very good that way for most people.
  16. That is the correct needle,so I would say that the hole is elongated & you need to replace the needle holder,we have them in stock.
  17. There is usually a sharp edge accross the back on this plate that you can grind off to give it a taper , it's the back edge right @ the end of the red line in your pic.
  18. Steve is right they are pretty easy to work on & if you need any help let me know as I've worked on alot of them & can help you.
  19. The picture is alittle fuzzy to say for sure but it looks like a Singer 71-30 buttonhole machine.
  20. There has never been many repair manuals around for many sewing machines,Singer always had operator manuals BUT they wanted you to call their repairman out & make some $$ to fix it so they never printed service manuals.
  21. You probably have it threaded wrong look @ the file
  22. The 44 has a 71/2" space to the right of the needle & the 31 has 101/2"
  23. The 44 is a shorter version of a 31-15
  24. Hello Randy,I'm at the show in Wichita Falls,TX. & wanted to let you know we have a new model that we just got in yesterday that sews to 5/8" @ a great price if you want to give me a call next wed when I get back I can let you know more about it.
  25. It would be nice if it could be done but it can't the machine doesn't have the boss's cast into it to mount the shafts needed to make it work.
