  1. Nice Threepesons holster. Did you use the Will Ghormley pattern from the 1911 pack. I haven't been doing much leather work lately. Been fighting cancer. How ever I started one of these today. Very nice job.
  2. Made this for a friend’s Creed. 6-7oz leather, USMC black dye 50/50 thinned with alcohol. 4 coats of Parade Gloss shoe polish. Any comments, suggestions, critiques welcomed.
  3. 938 Legion Redux Several months ago I posted a picture of a holster I made for my 938 Legion. Lots of people pointed out the problems with it. I took everyone's advice, and although because of illness, it’s taken a while to get back on it I finished it today. I am pretty happy with it. Cut on a 20 ton press from harbor freight, using dies I got from J S Leathers, combination of hand and machine sewn (still need a lot of work on my sewing) I am pretty happy with it. It is still not perfect. Any comments are still appreciated. They don't hurt my feelings, I am still learning as much as I can.
  4. Yes, I do want to use it a clicker press. Thanks for the response.
  5. Has any one used the 12 ton harbor freight H frame press for cutting leather?
  6. Making a card holder for my PCM, used Fieblings Pro Die in Royal Blue. It came out darker than I really wanted but still a nice blue. I will post a picture when it is finished.
  7. I bought a used techsew in Ocala about a 3 hour drive from my home on the east coast of Fl. I took pictures of the machine as it was set up in place, then removed the head, and put it in the cab, and strapped the table down in the back. It traveled just fine that way. Got home and put it all together, worked like a champ.
  8. Not a great job, but functional and comfortable to wear. I want to thank JLSleathers for the dies I got from him for cutting the pieces. Even though I do not have a press, a 2x4 and a dead blow hammer sufficed. 10 0z leather was right on the edge of thickness that my techsew will do, so the sewing is not perfect. I think when I do it again, I may skive the edges to make sewing a little more even. I am still learning to use the sewing machine. Sewn with 207 bonded thread.
  9. A long long time ago, in a different life, I was in the military, and on a drill team. Needless to say we had to have spit shined boots. There was a compound that we used to fill scratches, and then we would polish over it. I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Does anyone have an idea what it could have been?
  10. Depends on the size you want to make. Here is one I made for a buddy of mine who wears his kilt quite often. Made it from several patterns I found.
  11. Thanks. I try to follow the KISS principle.
  12. Thanks for the heads up. Just finished downloading and saving a bunch of the patterns.
  13. Does anyone out there have any experience with this machine? This is the Amazon Link for it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NSVW8DF?ref=em_1p_0_ti&ref_=pe_2313400_409561050
  14. Thanks to all. I will check my local ace for some MEK. I have used it a lot over the years. 25 years in the military, we used it for almost everything.
  15. DUH? Sometimes I really do have Write-Only-Memory.
  16. If I do not have actual Barge thinner, can I use acetone, or mineral spirits to thin it?
  17. I have the same machine. Any problems I have had have been of my own making. Make sure that you are using the right size needle for the thread you are using. I was using 277 on a holster and was using the 160 needle as listed in the chart I have, and having the same type of problem. Changed to a 200 needle, and the problems went away. Love my machine.
  18. I ended up buying the one that Harbor Freight sells. It works ok for stamping, but not really for die cutting. I found a good deal on a techSew on Craig's list. It looks much the the Co;t in the above picture. It sews really well up to 1/2 inch leather.
  19. Do a subject search, this was brought up before, and there is a place you can get them.
  20. I am working on the exact holster in the picture. Looked at the web site for Standing Bear's Trading Post could not find that screw/rivet. What do they call it, and where would it be on their site?
