  1. I didn’t realise I’d inserted this in the for sale area?? I was only looking for some information... Sorry, its not for sale.
  2. A cheerful bunch in here Is the glass half empty or half full? Life is better than not !
  3. Thanks, I’m looking out for a good leather sewing machine as my hands go numb also. I have an old singer twin needle post machine, but the stitch selector keeps slipping. I will wait for a machine that will work with all leathers. good luck with your new bags.
  4. That’s a smashing bag! Great job. I was looking for a pattern for a bag like that for myself. Is it your own pattern or did you buy it?
  5. Nice work! What pattern did you use or did you make your own?
  6. Showed this to my wife for a laugh! She goes... that’s like something you’d do!! Sad thing is, She’s right!
  7. If you want to keep it all natural, Pig skin is almost like felt and easy to manage around curves. Not too expensive either.
  8. Also... when the belt is worn for a while and pressure is put on the holes... I think it looks better with the oval holes.
  9. I use a an oval punch on my belts. To keep I straight I made a line on the top with a small grinder to see if I was in line with the belt. Even the you need to practise.
  10. I bought from Buyleatheronline last week, a goat skin. Beautiful piece and not expensive 38 euro shipped. I will definitely buy more from them!
  11. Welcome! Nice work. I really like the carving on instagram!
  12. I used Studio-N from this forum for my stamps and was very happy with his service! Even when I made a mistake on my doing... he re-made a replacement stamp at no charge to me. I will be using his services in the future!
  13. From what I saw... photos wouldn’t help you decide to buy anything. It was a very large warehouse that had pallets of leather thrown in a disorderly way on the floor and on the first floor were pallets on wall racks with some order to the hides as in colour and styles (swade, embossed, printed, etc.) it all had a bit of a musty smell as it has laid there for around 17 years, but they all looked in good condition. That name hasn’t come up anywhere? Who is he?
  14. The advice sounds good... but keep in mind, there’s pallets upon pallets of this leather, maybe up to 100 pallets. There was veg tanned leather and someone making re-enactment gear for Viking movies bought it all. Someone else bought all the good machines. Tonne’s of clickers were sold as scrap metal. almost all of the leather is 2-3mm or more so it’s heavier than lining. But none is heavy enough for belts unless doubled up, it feels too flexible.
  15. Hi all, Ive come across a closed shoe factory which has an almost endless supply of leather hides for a small leather crafter like me. they’re not free but are very cheap! Most of the leather is soft, like bag leather. All chrome tan. Embossed, plain, printed, elk, bovine, etc... I’ve only started leather working this year, so not very experienced. My problem is I don’t know if I should buy some of the leather for future use when I’m more experienced? Or should I let it go and buy leather as needed for specific projects? Or learn how to make bags and make a fortune from cheap leather? Any suggestions?
  16. Thanks guys. Do you actually make money from the laser or is it another addition to a good hobby?
  17. That’s beautiful Work! Very clean stitching. Nice style bag too.
  18. I was only curious about the lazer... Brillant review! Thanks. What was the total cost of the lazer and any other extras?
  19. Looks good! I didn’t think you could use tiger thread in a machine? did you hand sew all of the bag? It must have taken ages?
  20. Thanks Ryan, I split 4mm veg tan down to 2mm and glued them back to back, got the hide from a local guy ( don’t know where it came from but look good ) stitching took me about 4 hours ( have to speed up! ) edges were easy using UK Saddlery’s advice (Tallow).
  21. I wouldn't buy that buckle... Ive had a look around for really nice good quality ( you know... something special! ) buckles, I can't seem to find them anywhere? Theres some in china but who knows if the quality is any good...
