Try to use a dye prep before you air brush it , give it two coats after the first one is completely dry. The color will be darker when using the dye prep. It obsorbes the dye better.

Very nice work. I thought they were a women’s purse. I think the buckle makes them seem larger. Nicely done. jim -

What's happened to Hermann Oak?
toe2short replied to buzzardbait's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I have a HO on the way. The last one I ordered was a 3/4 oz and I was not crazy about the quality. I ordered a 6 oz. Holster cut. If it is not better then the last one, I will try Wicker Craig I will give you a try. Thank you jim -

Pocket book for my wife

Very nice, that’s why I won’t show it to my wife. Jim -
I did almost the same to make a finish for my stamping table I made. It is 1/3 boiled turp., 1/3 boiled leanseed oil and 1/3 Bees wax. It smells the same as paste as you buy in Home Depot. It works really good, it protects from any spills. I did not boil the turpentine by the way. I purchased it that way from HD. I only melted the wax with a pot of boiling water and a bowl on top of the pot. They also sell boiled Leensead oil at HD, it is to dangerous to boil the turp. or the leenseed oil. Jim

How did you get into leather work?
toe2short replied to Rolandranch's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
My story is your story, I tried my hand on belts. Made them for some members of my metal detecting club and family and friends. If it weren’t for this site and the fabulous folks that meet on it, I would not have stuck with it. Dont forget YouTube, Nigel Armitage and all the other folks who took their time to help others.Thank you all. Jersey Jim -

You need a lot of elbo grease to get all of the pigment off the belt. When you think it is about right, get a clean cloth and do it again. If you would like a nice even color try dip dyeing. If you want to go brown try Weavers dark neets foot oil. They also sell a brown dye that you can add to the oil . You can go from very light to dark. The best part about the oil dye is no bleeding. Do a quick wipe and you are done. You can use any finish you like. I think they have a video. jim

What to use to seal leather after stamping & dying

Acrylic resolinee. If you use a sprayer add a little water. Jim -
I tried Fiebings Canuba cream and was impressed. I cut my finger when I was edging the side and a drop of blood got on my project. I quickly wiped it off. To my surprise it was fine. I like the nice mellow natural glow it gives the leather. jim

Thank you Biko . I had someone do the design and make the stamp. I will post it when I get the stamp. It cost $95 total. The stamp is 2 1/4” at the widest point.
