  1. Does that include the legal costs for defence against Nike for using their logo? And ultimate reparation? I think you'd need three noughts on that, Nike get twitchy about that sort of thing.
  2. Shame its at the equivalent of $1600 in the UK
  3. I usually don't comment on peoples work, but stunning.
  4. I had not realised they were so restrictive, in most jurisdictions the saddler would be liable for faulty (materials, workmanship, design, fitting etc) but would seek the protection of the relevant liability insurance. If you are prohibited by Guild this is very 1300's and may be knocked over by EU legislation allowing freedom to trade. What if someone else in the EU made saddles for someone in Germany? All very intruiging. Harry
  5. I do not think this is a non starter, necessarily. We all have different experiences. I was making decorative metal work in 1976 when someone asked if I could do something similar on leather. Innocence of youth... "yes, certainly" rapid learning curve, visit to D A Friends in Brighton, and a Tandy starter kit. Learned from there, via some huge mistakes. No internet, no YouTube; just libraries and asking people. That route could be replicated today (Tandy in Northampton for the kit, as Friends are not there now) but most people want faster results now. You seem to want to create a new (easier to navigate) leather connection website, which was set up by Francis Burdett Mills, based mainly on his factory and teaching experiences. Go for it! But be aware that its a thankless tasks will you verify everything? What about falconry and bookbinding, etc. It's a huge task. For a subsciption from all users, it may be a career, but I cannot begin to envisage the time needed. OR MAYBE just use forums such as this and the search box. I don't facebook, but it must be the same there. Great idea, but are you reinventing the wheel?
  6. I am not in the workshop at the moment, but will check it out, and get back to you, cannot recall off the top of my head. The 45K58 in particular is sought by saddlers to repair horse blankets. I have been offered way more than I expected to sell it prior to refurb, but I wanted to refurb it myself and then 'modernise it', we'll see if it worked, or if I end up with a table and motor for sale
  7. Here is the machine on its new table not fully set up yet, see the Kop holders still taped under the frame. Really pleased so far.
  8. I love old Singers in particular, and could not agree more. However my wife has a Domestic (but metal clad) Pfaff 1222 from 1975 ish, and she will not swap it for a modern sewing machine. She was devastated when the removal men broke the case but thanks to ebay I sorted that out. We took it for a service recently and she used my 1959 185K (I use it for linings etc) and was well impressed by its smoothness. Trouble is old machines are addictive, I now have 5, and they all work so hard to convince myself that the space is better used. I have just had mine serviced by the guys that did my college machines in 1980s; some of the same people there. Dangerous place to visit though, lots of machines and skivers for sale. Best Harry
  9. Well I am trying not to be jealous. I am lucky to have a converted single garage but its my workshop / office, and I run two businesses, so storage is tight, but now I want to move to somewhere with more space. Looks like I failed the jealousy stakes. It looks great, and I hope the move goes well. Harry
  10. I agree, but some sites inist on placing you where they think you are. LinkedIn will not allow me to put my village, or the nearest town, but insists on a very small hamlet miles away. Google.. wtf almost anywhere in the UK depending on day and weather. BT (who should know, as they are our service provider) is usually further out than Google. At least I can incorporate it into my profile here, but even if there was a concern regarding recognition or whatnot, surely "USA" is close enough to stop you and me suggesting things local to us. The CIA, FBI, probably IRS, FinCEN, all of the service providers, email providers, Facebook (if he uses it) etc know where he is, what he's looking at, who he's writing to and what he's saying (or she if appropriate), but they won't offer advice on suppliers and so on. Jeepers, don't buy or sell on any of the big market places, they are obliged hold info for government agencies in various countries, to ensure proper taxes get paid. Harry
  11. Thank you Jimi It was running well by hand, but cannot wait to go electric...
  12. Ok, so its been nearly 10 months, but I am due to get my machine back with a servo motor and new table on Thursday. 7 months were me being away on a contract, so its not too bad really. Can't wait now. Also getting my 196K205 back at the same time. Once I have them going I will post details. Harry
  13. They look like watch straps to me.
  14. Aah, shoot, I don't facebook, and did not know his name. Thanks for the update. CHeers H
  15. It was significantly reduced on Amazon, so I have ordered it, and will post a review when I get it. Harry
  16. Just in case anyone was wondering, I wrote, but have not heard back as yet. If I hear, I will post it. I will not order from the site until I know its running. Harry
  17. Sergey is currently making a stamp for me. He is based in Bulgaria. He has been very professional so far can't wait for the stamp., Best H
  18. My bad, also, its a great bag and makes me want my Lands End Square Rigger from 1984 back.
  19. Fully agree, but also its good to support sponsors if you can. I am in the UK and we have other sources of waxed canvas. Harry
  20. SLC, one of the sites sposors sells some. https://www.springfieldleather.com/search?keywords=martexin Best Harry
  21. I have only ever gone in on all topics, and search for subjects that I want to read, or follow up. For UK members, from the 1970s advert... What's got a hazelnut in every bite? Topic (bar) or as we used to say squirrel poop H
  22. Nope, I recalled the name yesterday it was Fredk Aldous, but their sites don't have anywhere as much hardware as once they did. But l will look up the others. Thank you. Harry
  23. I am not saying to go there... The Link fails with Kaspersky, but the WHOIS data and Certificate appear in order, so its hard to see why Kaspersky is negging it, particularly as I went there yesterday on this computer... I do daily security checks on our systems, and nothing came up for G and M in the report. Just searched "g and m tools" in DuckDuckGo clicked on the link, and went straight there.... odd, but thats a nice pillar drill Harry
