Sorry forgot to say many more apps to do this. the only requirement is to use the camera on the back to show where the pen is against the picture on the screen which shows both the picture (jpg) and the hand drawing the image onto paper I have one that i place the tablet on and between two large books and then copy below so everything remains steady

Sorry folks but a web site is all about building confidence and that means being open with your potential customers Mark it's not the people who ring up that's the problem its the ones who visit your site and then look for where you are based and cannot find you, and go to the next site on google that has a address and buys from them. I bet if you looks deeply at your state you may have noticed a slight did, just the physical address and a email address will do it does not have to have the phone number if that's a problem to you, but many people do like to talk things through and if you don't want to do it fine, someone else will be happy to help them -
I think we the UK did excel though in engineering beauty, in the late Victorian period, some of our old pump houses are equal to cathedrals in beauty over basic design, But unfortunately modern design is function only

There is a way with a tablet or mobile phone to use that to display a image you can trace. difficult to explain but look at the app here https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/18/15340376/sketchar-augmented-reality-drawing-app-ios

As a person who owned a e-commerce site for 15 years until retiring last September, here are my observations You have a contact page but i did not see any obvious place where you cave your companies address and contact numbers, The main thing with e-commerce is to try and convince the public that you are honest and if there is any problems they can contact you or look you up Your little name with no frills does not stand out it needs to be bolder that it is the name of the company perhaps with a shadow effect or colour You are going after Ladies with money, Women always seems a rather less flattering term at least in the UK so Ladies and Gentlemen might be a more upmarket term Your descriptions are not on the main page, I look down a list of nice pictures and see Belts and if i hover over it a price comes up, you could have a brief description like Top Quality 100% Bridal leather belts, or 100% Leather belts tanned by 100 year old tannery something to justify the price When you then get into the actual description tell the history to help justify the price and why they should buy it "this belt was hand made by fred bloggs using the Vegetable Tanned leather from our oldest tannery in xxx which has been producing the highest quality leather for the last xxx years. Each strap id personally check for any imperfections before it is made and the fastenings are hand sewn using the traditional threads to give many years service. Each item we sell carries out makers name to guarantee it has passed out pre and post quality control specifications " may seem over the top BUT you are selling both a BRAND and a Belt Weekend bag under men's shows me nothing to justify any price a pair of handles and a zip, whoopy would you click through on that picture, you are trying to get there attention to look further so the images must make a impact on them straight away, They may have started looking for a Belt but find the new weekend bag image hits them in the right spot Reduce the images across the page from four to three and this makes room for two line descriptions under each image to improve your descriptions as in 4 above Hope this helps, Remember the customers cannot use their normal senses to judge the quality of your product, so you need to tell them the story -
For many uses which presumably are of quite short duration and the requirement for portability, would not a machine driven by say 120 amp hour leisure batteries be a good solution, How many hours are leather workers sewing machines, actually run each day and also after the initial burst of power to get started the continue stitching takes little energy

Thanks Bob, yes i had that one, I have contacted Singer Museum in Scotland to see what archives they have and will post back when i get some info. It would seem strange if all the technical data was destroyed with such a large factory in the UK, normally someone gobbles it up for the future
-
Don't forget that most high speed machines need the high speed to work the automatic oiling
-
I would assume that at some time Singer would have produced a more detailed manual for repair meant to work on the vast number of Singer 29k's rather than just the parts manual and blown up diagram of the location of the parts Also whatever happened to all the original blueprints of all singer machines, things like that are often collected and stored in a museum somewhere for the future, is there a singer museum somewhere that holds all the old designs

Yet another machine newb and his questions...;-)
chrisash replied to DacianFalx's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I would check who has a local repair man for their machines as that may be very important in the future, also allow for the future you may wish to do some work in Veg tan so better to buy maybe a machine larger than you want now and be able to do more if the occasion calls for it -
Ask them to video on there phone a shot of the walking needle, that would be quick and easy and confirm if they have confused the model number

I guess people need to see at least a photo to be able to make any judgment, preferably even more photo's -
sewing machine Trouble changing stitch length on Singer 29K58
chrisash replied to iknowit101's topic in Sewing Leather
On mine a 29K53, you can only change the needle length setting buy using about the top half of the bar, after that it makes no difference. Right op top for small stitches, about just before half way down to get about 7-7.5 stitch per inch Manual and spare parts list for similar to yours on link 29K51_53_55_56 Instuction and parts list.pdf -
I guess you are in the best position to find out This video tells something about Chandler Also looks like made byMitsubishi and you can buy a manual here http://www.sewingmanuals.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Mitsubishi.htm

Maybe time for a simple press to do the work, available in many tool shops for about £100

Many sellers talk about sewing leather and don't mention the type of leather. Nearly all sewing machines will sew a few ounces of soft chrome leather like used in clothing, but Veg Tan leather is normally much harder material except the very fine stuff and few machines will sew two layers of it apart from Industrial sewing machines which have a motor strong enough to punch through
-
I imagine most car makers apart from maybe the top end, use chrome leather which will bend around the wheel nice and easy, The trouble is that once the grease from your hands sink in it turns darker and sandpaper will just rub the surface skin off and leave the furry body of the leather showing. No treatment will rectify that In England you can buy new leather coverings which comes with the leather and also half the sewing in place so you just follow the instructions and basically lop the thread through the hoops supplied and pull tight. hard to explain but imagine a row of stitches already sewn. you then just put the new thread under the old threads on each side and pull together Lot cheaper than a replacement wheel
-
That's understandable in low wage countries the people still need to buy goods from the world prices so far more expensive in real terms for things like machines and also local supplies of things like leather, finds the leather tannery selling outside the home country to get the best prices. Even in England there are now few tanneries seeminly as few are prepared to invest in dirty industries that take a year to make a product, so the remaining ones have moved up market

Sorry disagree, there will always be a need for quality garments with a good history about them. you need to make a brand and explain it to your public. quality is a hard word to understand but many suggest its to the best you can make it, other may produce something people believe is better and it may or may not be true, but they are all perceived values and that is because they have established a brand and made it well known Many what we used to call Blue collar workers would probably never buy a £50 leather belt, but the next higher group say middle management would never buy a £10 belt and so on If you relate to cars, few people ever buy the basic model they all pay for the additional extra packs and have a small badge on the back to say L, or XL, or GT so people will pay extra for a bit of extra luxury China, Mexico, India etc all buy goods from Europe and the USA, we sell high value they sell low value

Dont know anything about it but for collectors of different machines worth a look https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-vintage-Singer-29k-UFA-machine/123323982900?hash=item1cb6aea434:g:uVsAAOSwi8xaTkAM

I would suggest a visit to your local ex military store and buy some old boots to practice in before you try the important stuff, your name could be rubbish if you make a poor job and new skills take time to learn, maybe your local library has a book on boot repairs if not plenty i guess on Amazon and the like

Rusticleathershop Having traveled the world and especially West Africa , I think i can understand what your stating about the customers, if you cannot see a way out then maybe repair could be a area you could investigate be it Chrome leather garments of Veg tan boots and shoes. Many vehicles need leather repairs including seats, gear change floor covers and gear stick ends. What i am suggesting is look for other markets where you use your skills instead of just producing something that only brings in small change and maybe make small leather belt pouches in any spare time using wet leather molding, people always want small bags/ purses

Often its all about perceived values. is a Hermes wallet or b,five times the price Fred Bloggs can make and sell at. the answer is they are over a time and with great marketing' seen by the rich and famous as worth the money; and advertised on each piece to enable all friends to know what make they have brought Is the skills of the leather worker at Hermes any better than say Nigel Armitage on this forum, its probably a close call but perceived the Hermes is better by some So maybe you need to advertise your skills; and move your products up market, maybe not to the top end market but maybe the middle range where people have some money to spend on goods.Stamp your goods with your logo, attach a leaflet with your history and why they should buy from you and finaly pay attention to presentation like neat stitching, no scratches, consistent dye and so on Regarding sewing machines, Hand stitching can be as good or better and many secondhand machines produce good work, everyone would like the top of the range items but often only need the basic version. Totally hand made can be a major selling point
