Buck 110 Sheath
chuck123wapati replied to Dwight's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
wonderful job it looks better than original !! I have three in three different drawers lol one was broken i made a new blade and added curly maple scales and even made one of those pancake style sheathes for it. One of my daily carries is a small old timer lock blade it stays in a belt buckle sheath i made. Then a three blade Case Stockman in my pocket. -
i was going to suggest asking a barber or hair stylist. how.

Sharpening Round Knife Alternatives Good Enough?

and that is why leather is so much harder to cut when laying flat on a surface it applies drag through direct pressure on the side of the blade. Pick up a piece and cut it you will find the job much easier to do. -
i love it!! i knew you would come up with something no one else would think of.

Sharpening Round Knife Alternatives Good Enough?

the video is spot on, i will say though they are stropping the blade after the edge has been established, or in essence keeping it sharp. You still need to create the edge before you can proceed to this step. Rough stones create the edge then the edge gets polished finer like they are doing to the point you are satisfied. -
i like that rich dark color and light thread combo. Looks really sharp.

thank you! sometimes we do go two, sometimes five lol. you could walk that road for a hundred and not hit a town. It is so quiet calm and fresh in the morning your brain just goes blank and any problems just float away as you walk along.

nice hot Belgium waffles strawberries and whipped cream sound good to me!! i bought the store , kroger. brand it is about the only one here, it doesn't have all the spices names so I think I'll be testing out some homemade blends if i can find some on the net. its is a spicy blend which i really like but i cant reproduce it without all the info. if you can get Anaheim green chilis, they are very mild and make an excellent tasting mildly spicy green chili, i posted a recipe above somewhere.

sweet!!!! hope you had a good Easter as well. lol its a chuck roast or steak here too, tough suckers unless cooked right. I have to say i studied on the curry powder and got my curiosity up so I bought some curry powder the other day and just made a bacon, onion, and cheese fritata???? with it. I used about a teaspoon of curry powder in it, everyone loved it!! That is some tasty spice mix. You can teach an old dog new tricks but getting him to remember....

Sharpening Round Knife Alternatives Good Enough?

i found that that alot of my sharp knife problem was actually how i was cutting the leather, when its laid flat on a table it becomes much harder to cut, your pushing against the leather causing it to bind on the blade plus trying to cut whatever you have under it.. I found that picking up the leather or getting some air under one side or the other makes it about a hundred times easier to cut with any knife. as far as sharpening if it can shave hair its plenty sharp. its not rocket science it just takes practice. farthest i go is 2000 grit paper for stropping if that is what you want to call it. Heres where folks fail IMO, create the primary edge with a rough stone, sharpen it till its as sharp as you can get it. The edge will cut but feels rough, like a saw blade, then start with your finer stones working to clean up the edge until you start to get a very fine roll of metal forming. then you strop to take of that fine roll and polish the final edge. Most folks i have seen that have problems sharpening don't create that sharp edge first with the rough stone, they go into the finer stuff way to soon and are just basically polishing the side of the blade not the edge. -
mine is an old ice pick, most folks have never seen one.

I like floral, which ever you pick do a few practice pieces first before starting on your project.

cant wait to see what you do with it!

What do you plan on doing with it? A sewing awl is for punching holes in leather, a hardware store/scratch awl is for marking lines. As with any leather tool you can buy expensive or make do that is up to you.

Using an arbor press on solid copper rivets + burrs?

the secret is in how much post you leave after cutting it off, takes some practice. -
Hello!

what zulu and fred said but i would glue the sandpaper onto a popsicle stick so it doesn't round the edges on the outside then stick some to a drill bit of the right size for the inside. you wont need much on the inside. then touch up the brass piece too, it gets worn also.

wish i could tool like that!!
