some are some aren't but with limited info we don't know what your buying. If they are they wont be for long so you will still need to sharpen them at some point. Buy your cutting tools on the quality of their steel and workmanship, sharpness is inconsequential and adds to the price work you will be doing anyway. IMO. That being said i have one Japanese made knife it was sharp out of the box. i don't think the Japanese folks send out dull tools the one i have wasn't, but Chinese copies may be a different story, you see them marketed as "Japanese style".

i didn't accuse you of anything you wrote you sell your stuff and you showed a Lexus logo. if you sold that without permission it is illegal and i questioned that i also questioned the legality of using other peoples art without permission which if not illegal certainly unethical.. What is the legality of using other peoples art and or trade names in your work? i know using and or selling trade marks such as your Lexus without permission can violate the trade laws here in the US.

this isnt all you can make but gives you an idea. , you can also double it up and make the thicker stuff as well. the sky is the limit.

its is for raising the hay up onto the stack then men on top would move it around, i wish i could remember more about it too if i remember right a buck rake would bring the hay in then load onto this by men, a horse pulled it up then the men on top of the stack would place it in such a way that the rain or snow melt would run off keeping the hay good inside.

Not a lot around here but south of here about 60 miles along the Platte and little snake rivers is where most of the local hay is grown in our county. The eastern part and northern part of the state has the grass lands and more water. Where i live is on the edge of the red desert. Its been a good year for them not to much rain but enough to do the job they will be getting two good cuttings i'm sure this year. Here is another cool picture, my great grandmother took this probably in the early teens, i have about 30 glass negatives of hers. I put them on a light box and took photos of them then had to reverse the image from negative to positive to get the image. My dad told stories of the old timers, haying was a community endeavor so the men would go from ranch to ranch helping each other and the women would get together to feed every one. This would be on the little snake river where my family homesteaded

Thanks natural light effect at its finest! The good old Wyoming winds took off the roof lol. This old barn was long abandoned in the 50s or so, it started as a train stop/spur back in the steam locomotive days to load sheep. With our dry desert weather and no humidity deters alot of rot but the constant sand and wind does most of the erosion out here.

post a picture so we can see what you talking about. It could be a home tanned, partly home tanned , or just a salted and dried hide with no tanning.

make some decent scales for that thing too. if you have to use it for any length of time or with wet hands those screw holes will tear you up. very nice work!!

just my thought the middle of the spine is the only place that can flex, the sides are double thick with the inserts and the ends are sewn so the middle is the only place that can stretch to take up the extra thicknesses of cards and money. when it stretches out it also has to pull in or down causing the saddle back shape. Maybe add a stiffener in the spine or maybe you can wet form the wallet to a predetermined thickness. I'm like the rest it doesn't matter to much leather does its own thing when exposed to the unknown stresses that your butt puts it through. You should see my wallet lol.

oh heck yea !! I always cut off any good hardware, i also check the thrift stores and some garage sales for old leather goods and belts with good buckles.
