  1. What a great idea! It would be really fun to have a covered unit with the pump portion poking out on a belt loop!
  2. Hi, the two toned staining on the serpent is really cool. Amazing work. Thanks for sharing
  3. Gosh, this your 4th project? These look awesome! What's on the bottom of the soles? And what are they used for?
  4. I saw the video and I thought it was pretty good except the parts where it blurred out of focus. But everything else was good if you were going for more of a presentation of how it was made instead of a 'how-to'. @Abdo I checked out hex 'n hit and was impressed. Kind of what I am looking for in an alphabet set for the same reasons you noted but it'll have to wait as more practice is in front of me! Thanks for sharing!
  5. Hi, That's a good idea to get some bison remnant bags for practice. I'll have to give that a go, sometime. Thanks!
  6. Wow, you even tooled the belt loops! Just really super detailed and amazing work. And you pretty much said it already, but I'll say it here: It will difficult to find anyone who would be willing to pay what is due for a functional piece of leather artwork of this magnitude. It'll just be a work of art and your passion will show through and leave it at that.
  7. A definite beast of a bag. I heard that Bison is pretty easy to worth with and holds up really well but is a bit pricey. True?
  8. I like the simplicity of the card holder. My attempt at a 'simple' card holder was a disaster with the snaps. Now, looking at how your top snap was done, I think I understand where I didn't follow instructions close enough. thanks for the "AHA" moment.
  9. That's a great idea!
  10. I'm in about a year now and I cannot even say I'm past the beginning stages. Superior work!
  11. I did the same but and when I told him what I was going to use it for, he offered to 'clean up and round the edges' for $20. It's a solid piece some about 22" long and about 16" wide. Like others here, I'm going to use it until it breaks and then maybe hunt for the thicker stuff. Having too much fun right now to even bother!
  12. oh my! I wished I had that skill set!
  13. Like the two different tones. I'm putting together the one from the Tandy facebook page that Jim Lanell put together. Let's just say my version leaves (LOTS) of room for improvement!
  14. Patience is the word here. I couldn't imagine taking something apart like that and renewing it. See lots of stuff like that on youtube and am just amazed at the patience and skill.
  15. Hi, Such astonishing work. I noticed the fonts on the initials were unique. Was that a special stamp set or did you make your own? ~JL
  16. I"ve quickly found that no one would ever pay enough for the time for a project like this. It is, indeed, a labor of love. And for me, it's just a hobby...it's just a hobby...it's just a hobby...it's just a hobby...... Looks great! ~JL
  17. Were those lines penciled in or did you use a scratch awl? Whatever you used they are very nice neat lines.
  18. Very cool. I like the contrast! One day I'll get brave and try this out.
  19. wow, coming from a vet such as yourself, I appreciate the comment. RESPECT! Yea, I see his other posts but I'm stuck behind a dadgum computer all day and it's tough to break away. I checked out his art carving and it is so cool. For anyone out there who is on the fence about Mr. Lennels work, I bought a couple of his art carving lesson videos and here is giving it away. Dude is a legend and a treasure! I like to listen to his stories, too!
  20. Wow, that is such a cool design! I could see how this could easily be a themed set. Great job!
  21. Thought I had the dye. I tried to find the light brown color but couldn't find it, anywhere so I got the medium brown and I'll see how it looks when I thin it down. Here is where I am so far. I noticed the name I stamped in could've used a border, and I have some more practicing to do with my basket weave but I still excited about how it'll turn out. When it gets finished up, I'll post. Constructive criticism welcome. thanks. ~JL
  22. Cool. Did you tool the brown one? Or did it come with that imprinted design? I like that color
  23. Hi, I like the colors on that bag. Very rugged looking just right for the construction industry. I bought some pull up leather from Tandy, a dark chocolate brown and made ID badge holder using a template from Makers Leather and he showed how he used double-sided tape. I think it turned out really nice considering it was my first time with that kind of leather. (I practiced on some other scraps). I wanted to make some badge holders for my co-workers but wanted to see and feel other colors (they're so expensive!). I can wait until they lift they open back up. Still gotta working on my stitching, though. I live in Pearland, by the way.
