  1. very nice. I like how you were able to carve in the font.
  2. Man, trading leather cards is a great idea! I'm gonna get on that! Jim Linnell is such a treasure and a creative spirit!
  3. I was reviewing some others I've seen on youtube and am leaning towards something that has a removable filter using some sort of pocket. I've heard how you could cut apart an A/C filter with a high performance ratings. Not sure if its any better than a fabric mask but I've also seen one where you pop in fabric instead. Bottom line it would just be fun to make one and wear it out once in awhile.
  4. I like the colors and the borders. That would be pretty nice to hang on a wall.
  5. painting those still look like fun. Wished I was as creative.
  6. Hi @rahere I don't think I quite understand what you are saying here. Could you please clarify? And if anyone is interested, I completed the wet form and putting some finishing touches and will try to post some pictures here, soon. thanks ~JL
  7. Gosh thanks for the quick reply. I think I'm picturing a thinner version of the table and getting some water warmed up to the 135 degrees and wet the edges again over said thinner version over the tablet? I don't have a router but I have a sander that I can get a thin block of wood to match the corner the best. I can probably a friend who has some great wood tools who can maybe plane a block of wood that thin. Come to think of it he probably has the router. Thanks!
  8. Hi everyone. I attempted a wet form of a Samsung Tablet with some 3/4 oz leather. I thought I had it formed pretty well by super soaking it and really working and working the corners and the sides to stretch it over the back. Although it sits in its 'cup' I can't figure out how to form the lip so that it sits tighter inside it's new home. I haven't tried to dip it in water again and if I did, do I go back and try to work it back over the lip? I've attached some pictures to help describe what I've done. Thanks in advance! ~JL
  9. That's a pretty neat design. Most I've seen are the ones with a flap over but I could see this as a 'quick draw'.
  10. How fun! And a great gift idea, too!
  11. Wow that blue is so striking. Really cool.
  12. What a great idea! It would be really fun to have a covered unit with the pump portion poking out on a belt loop!
  13. Hi, the two toned staining on the serpent is really cool. Amazing work. Thanks for sharing
  14. Gosh, this your 4th project? These look awesome! What's on the bottom of the soles? And what are they used for?
  15. I saw the video and I thought it was pretty good except the parts where it blurred out of focus. But everything else was good if you were going for more of a presentation of how it was made instead of a 'how-to'. @Abdo I checked out hex 'n hit and was impressed. Kind of what I am looking for in an alphabet set for the same reasons you noted but it'll have to wait as more practice is in front of me! Thanks for sharing!
  16. Hi, That's a good idea to get some bison remnant bags for practice. I'll have to give that a go, sometime. Thanks!
  17. Wow, you even tooled the belt loops! Just really super detailed and amazing work. And you pretty much said it already, but I'll say it here: It will difficult to find anyone who would be willing to pay what is due for a functional piece of leather artwork of this magnitude. It'll just be a work of art and your passion will show through and leave it at that.
  18. A definite beast of a bag. I heard that Bison is pretty easy to worth with and holds up really well but is a bit pricey. True?
  19. I like the simplicity of the card holder. My attempt at a 'simple' card holder was a disaster with the snaps. Now, looking at how your top snap was done, I think I understand where I didn't follow instructions close enough. thanks for the "AHA" moment.
  20. That's a great idea!
  21. I'm in about a year now and I cannot even say I'm past the beginning stages. Superior work!
  22. I did the same but and when I told him what I was going to use it for, he offered to 'clean up and round the edges' for $20. It's a solid piece some about 22" long and about 16" wide. Like others here, I'm going to use it until it breaks and then maybe hunt for the thicker stuff. Having too much fun right now to even bother!
  23. oh my! I wished I had that skill set!
  24. Like the two different tones. I'm putting together the one from the Tandy facebook page that Jim Lanell put together. Let's just say my version leaves (LOTS) of room for improvement!
  25. Patience is the word here. I couldn't imagine taking something apart like that and renewing it. See lots of stuff like that on youtube and am just amazed at the patience and skill.
