  1. The black and pink combination is always a great contrasting colors. But the lines you created with the creaser; now that set the whole thing off as PROFESSIONAL!! I thought that came from the factory it was so evenly spaced. Just a marvelous functioning artwork.
  2. Dig the monogram logo work. Looking at the background works is what all the cool kids on social media call 'oddly satisfying'. :D ~JL
  3. I got started with a starter kit from Tandy. Probably alot of us did. It helped to solidify my thoughts about the craft and is now a passion. can't say I've 'replaced' any tools but I sure have gotten some better ones. And with many crafts, the more you practice the better you get. And, also, like with many hobbies, you can spend as little or as much as you want. But in all seriousness, coming from a leather noob, too. Welcome! I learned so much just by searching the forums. An unbelievable amount of treasure from really knowledgeable and helpful folks from all over! ~JL
  4. Very chillaxin' doggy
  5. Man that would be cool to hang that along with a tool belt that I friend uses for his construction job!
  6. I think as with many things, skill sets improve with practice. But if you make a gift such as this, I don't think anyone would be bothered by any imperfections. I think they'll be glad you thought enough of them to make them something from scratch. A leather craft gift such as this is truly something that comes from the heart. :) ~JL
  7. Now THAT is a tool rack. Totally awesome and somehow oddly satisfying.
  8. Man, I totally dig the work...and your tool rack! You should post a picture of that, too!
  9. Adding pro tip from Don Gonzales that I use: add more than one line parallel line using a very light pencil marker. That way you can tell if your lines are going to go off kilter and stays true. The additional pencil marker doesn't show (for me) as I generally dye/antique it anyway. Just thought I'd throw in my newbie skill. ~JL
  10. Hi I notice these offers are pretty good deals and they go pretty fast.  Is there any way I can get an alert when you post?

    Thanks in advance.

yes. I am posting right now

  11. No disrespect to you but yea, they've already diagnosed that in me. I'ts called the Dunning-Kruger effect. LOL! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect ~JL
  12. Ah, now I understand. I never knew these existed! I unsure if I want to invest in something like that although these aren't too terribly expensive. I have an old Dremel, though so I may consider it. I am going to clamp it down to my work bench somehow and see if I can attach a burnisher, first. Thanks for the tip!
  13. Man, that must be one cool diaper bag!
  14. Man that is a very cool random design. I like it.
  15. very nice. I like how you were able to carve in the font.
  16. Man, trading leather cards is a great idea! I'm gonna get on that! Jim Linnell is such a treasure and a creative spirit!
  17. I was reviewing some others I've seen on youtube and am leaning towards something that has a removable filter using some sort of pocket. I've heard how you could cut apart an A/C filter with a high performance ratings. Not sure if its any better than a fabric mask but I've also seen one where you pop in fabric instead. Bottom line it would just be fun to make one and wear it out once in awhile.
  18. I like the colors and the borders. That would be pretty nice to hang on a wall.
  19. painting those still look like fun. Wished I was as creative.
  20. Hi @rahere I don't think I quite understand what you are saying here. Could you please clarify? And if anyone is interested, I completed the wet form and putting some finishing touches and will try to post some pictures here, soon. thanks ~JL
  21. Gosh thanks for the quick reply. I think I'm picturing a thinner version of the table and getting some water warmed up to the 135 degrees and wet the edges again over said thinner version over the tablet? I don't have a router but I have a sander that I can get a thin block of wood to match the corner the best. I can probably a friend who has some great wood tools who can maybe plane a block of wood that thin. Come to think of it he probably has the router. Thanks!
  22. Hi everyone. I attempted a wet form of a Samsung Tablet with some 3/4 oz leather. I thought I had it formed pretty well by super soaking it and really working and working the corners and the sides to stretch it over the back. Although it sits in its 'cup' I can't figure out how to form the lip so that it sits tighter inside it's new home. I haven't tried to dip it in water again and if I did, do I go back and try to work it back over the lip? I've attached some pictures to help describe what I've done. Thanks in advance! ~JL
  23. That's a pretty neat design. Most I've seen are the ones with a flap over but I could see this as a 'quick draw'.
  24. How fun! And a great gift idea, too!
  25. Wow that blue is so striking. Really cool.
