  1. That's what I've been doing!! I'm going to start dying today! ...as soon as I finish wondering around here...
  2. Hi all. I've been following his first class in late March. I try to put in a little bit every night after WFH. I'm ready to start dying today and I'm super excited. I've really enjoyed watching a master and his stories are a lot of fun. What a legend. JL
  3. Wow this looks super duper great! I have a question about your dye process, if you're willing to help out a noob. I'm guessing you dyed the whole thing and then applied a resist and then did the British Tab antique paste? or did you dye just the outer part and protect your carving as a separate step? Hope I made sense. Thanks in advance. ~JL
  4. wow, like the color combos. Is that Alligator skin?
  5. I was wondering why my bargrounding wasn't making a great impression. (sorry for the pun) I thought it was me just not used to it and still being a novice. I think I'm doing it right and have pretty good results with other generic bar grounders but now Ima thinking about upgrading to BK's bar grounders. I have his bevelers and they do make a difference. And so you're right. You will get what you pay for!
  6. yea, dig that sewing job on the front. It makes it really stand out. And the tooling is most excellent!
  7. Just curious but wouldn't the bounce come from the table? I mean, if the table needs some adjustment so that it wouldn't 'wiggle'? I have to do some 'unwiggling' myself; in fact, the wife said I need to start thinking about where I can move everything away from the kitchen table....but that's another story for a different day!
  8. @thefanninator: WHOA!! mop and glow? never would've thought! @cmbtsmrf for someone who even 'rushed through it' you did a good job. And a sign of a good learner is someone who can reflect on what went wrong and how they could do better next time and also be willing to accept constructive criticism. me, being a total noob, is just sponging things up and hope to get creative during the holiday break!
  9. I dig the design. Simple yet elegant. And the color combo is a match! Well done!
  10. But when you're in the whiskey barrels, do you really look at the clock? LOL! Looks like I was looking at the end of a whiskey barrel. Very nice!

    Messin' around

Holy smokes! Still a spongey noob here. Is that acrylic paint? If so, what is name brand?
  12. Wow, I really dig that reel case. Pretty slick.
  13. Cool. I like the black/brown contrast. I'm waiting for Christmas to open up my stitching pony so I can finish up on some projects that I've got waiting for it. Hoping one day to be good as all the cool stuff I see here and elsewhere!
  14. Wow, that's a great idea for Christmas! And it'll give me a whole year to up my game. Super awesome job!
  15. Very cool. Can you share with me about your mini desk top laser? Model number, etc?
  16. The lacing look like it was alot of work. But pretty cool in the end. I've found when I self reflect after reviewing a project, it sticks with me to help me improve for my next go. Well done!

    trout pint wrap

Cool. I'm curious How do the two ends connect?
  20. The liner looks like she's peeking out from behind the pockets. Well played!
  21. Did you air paint brush those edges? The black fading to brown looks really nice. If it wasn't an air brush, how would one go about learning to do that? JL
  22. Whatever stamp that it, it is still very stunning, especially with the red thread that makes it 'POP'!
  23. That is really cool work. Could you give us an idea of the size like maybe posting another picture up there next to a ruler or something we could compare? And for that really small detail work, what sorts of tools did you use?
