  1. Thightness depends on function. If your friend wants a quick draw holster then you dont want it tight at all. If its standard carrying holster you want it a little snug but you dont want it to lock in. Normally with western holsters you dont have to wet mold, although people do. When you make the holster you make a retention strap to hold the pistol in place
  2. This is beautiful! Now I need one.
  3. Boy this brought back some memories. My first real job that paid me actual money was making sails. Back in early 80s, I was 13 or 14, would leave school early and learned how to make sails for a company called Fowler sails in Miami. I was able to help my family pay some bills.
  4. I currently do belts, bags, and wallets but I'm getting into horse tack so I'd like to try polybonded for that and dog gear. Thanks
  5. Are we talking about hand sewing or machine sewing? I'll answer for each one. Where do you buy your sewing thread? I usually buy my thread through whomever I may be making other purchases to save on shipping. Machine thread was was through Zack White Leather. Hand sewing thread was Amazon. Which brands do you prefer? Hand sewing Ritza 25 Tiger thread How much or bobbins of thread do you typically use for your projects (monthly or per project)? It really depends on the thread size. Machine thread I can use two bobbins in a day of 207. Much less of 69 thread. Hand sewing I use much less because I don't do much hand sewing anymore. How many different colors do you usually work with or have in your shop? Generally I will use Black, Brown, and White. If there's a special request I'll use any other color, at an up charge. What’s the typical price range you pay for your threads? Around $30 US for 16oz of bonded nylon 277. Around $10 for 50 meters of Ritza 0.6mm What type of thread do you prefer (polyester, nylon, bonded, waxed etc.) and why? Bonded nylon
  6. Really well done!
  7. They sure do https://www.weaverleathersupply.com/search?options[prefix]=last&q=Rifle
  8. 8B is a very soft graphite. It's used for sketching and it's easier to make corrections when making patterns. Brand dosent matter to much.
  9. I do mostly machine stitching and trying to resew this with a machine may be difficult. Getting into the same holes and keeping a straight line would be more difficult than hand stitching.
  10. I've used a few of dieselpunk.ro's patterns. They're great patterns and a great way to learn. Since I didnt have the same style hole punch as he did I used dividers along the perimeter of the cut leather to layout where to use my pricking irons. For any internal hole where I cant use the dividers I use an awl to make an indent through the pattern where the holes should be then use my pricking iron.
  11. Do you need it translucent because you cover the entire pattern with it? I've used blue tape to hold patterns onto the leather
  12. I have a Cobra 4 The Marketplace is on the main page and you have to scroll down about half way. Looks like this on my phone This is the link for the sewing machine section in "Items for sale" section. https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/82-machinery-sewing-and-stitching/ You could also try places like ebay or FB marketplace
  13. The Cowboy and Cobra are pretty similar. My choice was the Cobra only because the seller was local enough to pick it up and avoid the freight charge, which saved me $350. They come up for sale from time to time here on the forum's marketplace. Rarely under $3k but it does happen.
  14. I have this tool and it works well. As fredk said, it's personal preference. If the handle is to thin for your hand you can wrap it to make it thicker.
  15. Thanks for the feeback. I'll be calling my bank and looking at Square and Clover more closely. I breezed through the Clover and Square websites and noticed that Clover can integrate with woocommerce and other website apps. With Square it looks like you have to create an online store through them. Square hardware looks to be cheaper than Clover. I'll do more research on them.
  16. I'm opening my shop soon and was wondering what other shop owners do for payments. I would like to do all cash but in todays world it's not as convienant as it once was. On my website I'll be using WooCommerce and they take major credit cards. But need something for my brick and mortar store. Are people using something like Square or another POS? Do you accept Paypal, Cashapp or other similar apps?
  17. Welcome from TN!
  18. I dont know how it works on this particular forum but on many forums if they delete an account all posts from that person gets deleted. So it would really make a mess of older threads. Best thing to do is to eleminate any profile info you dont want on there and change your profile's email to a nonexisting email so you cant retrieve a new password. Then reset your passsword to something you wont remember. Log off and you wont be able to log back in.
