  1. post from a few years ago
  2. the thin metal band ones where you squeeze the jointed ends work to stay closed. They are springs so only open when squeezed. Guess the OP lost interest.
  3. Ohio Travel Bag, part of Weaver, Buckle Guy, and google purse hardware, many options
  4. Direct from WUTA they are a lower price. I am not affiliated in anyway. When something interests me I shop. I was the primary purchaser for a utility construction company. https://wutaleather.com/products/weaving_hole_punch
  5. Beautiful, love all the details. My sympathies for each of your healing fingers.
  6. Saw some used machines on Craigslist in the NYC area. There must be repair shops around for service.
  7. Is this the correct product (there seems to be a couple variants, and some discussion about some versions have been discontinued)? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mop-Glo-Multi-Surface-Floor-Cleaner-32oz-Shines-Protects-Floors/31953097?fulfillmentIntent=In-store&athbdg=L1200&from=/search
  8. I think he is saying it may be darn near impossible if you wanted to thin ONLY the buckle bend area, as opposed bend area to the end of the wrap. No way to go into and and back out again, have to go until no more leather, put another way, can not scoop out an area.
  9. @SUP I saw some pure talc on Amazon. Years ago my mom ordered some from a pharmacy, unscented talcum powder. We used it for greasy stains on clothes (this was before DAWN). I got melted butter on a tie. Sprinked the powder on it, next day brushed it off, the powder absorbed the melted butter. A little goes along way. Reading this thread, I now have another use for the powder! Better living through chemistry (thank you Dupont).
  10. The rear part is stunning!
  11. What you are saying is similar to my second idea. I will make another attempt at my first idea. 2 pieces of leather, sort of symetrical in shape, round with tabs opposite each other. stitched halfway round the circle to the key ring, continuing back to other side (opposite half of circle). then just a snap on tab opposite key ring tab. I too have a tiny light and a Vicorinox Manager (like having the pen and sissors) on my key ring. I use these fishing clips instead of the split ring. Easier to get on and off (some places do allow even the smallest knife) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0895SKN8V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I use larger version on larger SAK. got idea from someones youtube channel, do no recall whose.
  12. I might have (though the flap is much nicer), extended the sides past the coin, enough to put a snap in. it would be similar in shape to the ring portion. Or, folded over where you have the fold, and snap near the ring, thus only two thicknesses, rather than 3 plus a snap.
  13. I like the stamping pattern. Lucky both of you, she gets custom crafted leather goods, and you get homemade sourdough bread!
  14. Sorry do not recall where I saw it, but at least one seller sold the parts seperately, so you could get a quantity of caps, and a variety of post lengths.
  15. price and shipping were not bad at Weaver/Ohio travel bag. Amazon is pricey.
  16. Depending on pattern, some small diameter brass rods run through would support the tea light, and provide an accent. Or decorative nails, or other embellishments to cover the wire or rods run through to support the tea light (or votive holder, depending on size). Or my idea of small block of wood sitting there, cheap, no work (or votive holder upside down, shot glass when not in use, 2 pieces of cardboard with lap joint (maybe not correct term) on edge, thread spool, or.....
  17. Wet blood is somewhat shiny, only dried is dull looking. So if you want it fresh severed looking... I would use shiny, and skip any putrefaction, since you mentioned bleeding. However a little blue at the fingers might be appropriate. But if you want to dull it a bit https://angelusdirect.com/search?type=product&q=matt
  18. First, I am very new to leather work, but I see no need to finish something that is unseen, or in the case of a knife tang, counterproductive (possibly detrimental, could cause failure of the glued on scales due to the glue not bonding to the polished metal). Christopher Schwarz noted woodworker, author and teacher sees no point in obsessing over unseen parts of furniture. 2nd, I asked my cousin, retired New York State Trooper, currently a captain in a local PD (also their training officer and Glock armorer, so he is not an uniformed man), the question of using a signal blinker in a lane designated as turn only. He had asked many senior NYSP over the years, never got a consistant answer. His take and mine are you are required to signal your turn. You have signaled your turn, you are in a lane that requires you to turn, the lane signs and marking have signaled your intent. The warning of your intened action has been conveyed to all those around you.
  19. @Gezzer thank you for that link to the tread you started about the @thingy Learning lots here! Not always leather! Makes an old guy who just hit 70 feel pretty good (not because I did not know, theres is a world of that, but because it feels good to learn).
  20. Gezzer and chuck123wapati, Thanks for your replys, I have made candles, and understand the relationship between wick diameter and candle diameter but never encountered ringing. Sorry, I do not know how to do the @name thing in my reply.
  21. Your first holder is nice, I really like the taller one. I am going to try one, since my skills are limited, I think I may cut a small block of wood to hold the tea light up, thinking my efforts may not result in a friction fit. If you would, please... explain your "ringing" of a new container candle. I tried google but best I find is advice on burn time based on diameter.
