How to answer the question "How much is it?"
GrampaJoel replied to Leatherinspire's topic in Marketing and Advertising
I believe you are spot on with this poster. And I agree with you chuck. The posted posts seem sleazy to me. Joel -
Oh here’s a good one. I made this fly wallet to go with a fly rod reel,, case, I made for a friend. but forgot to put a closure of any type on it. I didn’t realize it until after I had mailed it half way across the USA. Joel

Mean no offense. But I can pretty much see of all the Galco unit. But your addition is pretty much covered up by the shotgun. Why not unload the shotgun and shells and show up what you did yourself. Joel -
You didn’t say what model blade you need. But look here and maybe you’ll find it. http://landisusa.com/us-en/parts-accessories/knifes-plastic-leather-cutter.html

Very artistic! It draws the eye in a curious way. Joel

I’m wondering, did you line the knife sheath? I ask because I noticed this piece.

So the vender just named it a ‘Rudder’ wallet for his nautical theme. Hummm. I thought it had something to do with its design. Well I looked on the web just like the posters above, and I found the same info they did. However,,,It never crossed my mind that the maker,,, just made up a name for the very common design. Well thanks for the thoughts and input gang. I learn something valuable from this site nearly every day. Joel

I saw a posting on the web somewhere, maybe here, Maybe not., about,,,, a wallet called a ‘Rudder’ wallet. I’ve searched the net but can’t find an answer. Can and will someone define for me what a ‘Rudder’ wallet is? thanks Joel

You have come a very long way Sir. your quality is Very High! I hope you get a ton of cash for this pair. if I may, may I suggest, in hope of furthering you skills, That you use a bobbin thread ( the back side thread) color to match the leather, so it doesn’t stand out so much. the white looks great on the front. But on the back not so much. See picture and circled area I attached. Joel

Hummmmmm indeed. can’t picture it in my mind. But as long as you can, all’s good. Looking forward to seeing it. Joel

Well it seems that I have some things left to learn. I have used the tried and true edge finishing methods for many years. However I stumble upon a edge that someone has posted photos of here at LW. The edge was glossy and you could see each layer of leather. It was beautiful! in my efforts to improve my skills I have often invested lots of time and money into new products and methods that I hope will increase my skills. To the NEXT, level. here is a photo of one such venture. I used clear edge paint and a new electric fileteuse. My results were not what was hoping for. The edge paint bubbled and the fileteuse didn’t seem to affect the edge at all. plus my greatest disappointment. The fricking edge paint just pulled off. so if anyone has some tips to help me master my new investment, please feel free to share your thoughts. thanks Joel

Pampeano Belt - How to punch pattern for stitching?
GrampaJoel replied to CJJ's topic in How Do I Do That?
You are a star! Move to the front of the line! I would suggest removing those double sided screws that hold the handles and go with a good quality of rivet. or better yet hide the holes and stitch the handles on. I think the belt came out great! Wear it with pride. nice job! Joel -

Well I for one would like to see your finished project when you get it done. Living here in SOCAL,,, I occasionally see some work from south of the border that catches my eye, and I wonder how it was made. have fun Joel
