Very Nice Boothill. It looks like it took a lot of time. I really like the color. Did you hand stitch or use a machine?

As always, looks great Josh. Is that your makers stamp on the yoke?

Backpacking Fly Rod Case
wvcraftsman replied to rusty521's topic in Satchels, Luggage and Briefcases
Nice work Rusty. Now we're waiting to see the matching reel case. -
Thanks. I guess I'll have to be getting one of them soon. Keep up the great work Duke.
-
Those are very nice Mark. Would post a pic of the other side of the spur straps? I'm getting ready to attempt my first set. I really like all the ones I've seen of yours.
-
I too am interested in one by "snail" mail. Would you PM me with the details as well? Thanks.

That is a beautiful saddle. Great job. Maybe in a 100 years I'll be able to create something like that.
-
I'm curious about this one too. You may have to call a silversmith and have them custom made. There are some silversmiths that have had some great reviews on here. Tom

I like them! As soon as my wife sees them, she will want a set to show in. Where did you get the basket stamp with the star? What type of paint did you use?

I really like the way you added the wood scroll to it. Nice tough. I hope to see more. -

Nice job. I really like the design too. Was that a custom creation? -
Embossed Belts
wvcraftsman replied to ABC3's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
How come I can't ever seem to find deals like this? Make sure you post some pics of your belts! -
I've found that a 3lb or bigger rawhide maul works really well for punches like this. The experienced folks might use something else. I've tried the small poly head mallet and it didn't have enough weight to it. Tom

Job well done Butch. They look great. I never realized how many types of spur straps there are. Did you come up with that pattern yourself?

Here is a link to someone else looking for 3" webbing. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=22944&pid=146804&st=0entry146804

Deb, I would be interested in the pattern. MarkB, I would be interested in this pattern as well.

Very cool Spider. That looks awesome. I'm envious of the backgrounding. That is something I'm having trouble mastering. What backgrounding tool did you use?
-
Is the chart something that you can post on here? I would be interested in seeing the chart.

Thanks King. Sometimes it looks better than others. I definitely need to practice! The good thing is I really like it, so more practice equals more fun. :-)

Thanks Clay. I appreciate the advice. There were a lot of things I would have done different after I finished it and "looking back" at it. I'll look for the matting tool too.

Here are a couple of pics showing the issue I'm having with the backgrounder. Your help is appreciated.

Thanks everyone. I followed the suggestions and let the leather dry more. It helped a LOT. Thanks again. Now its just practice, practice, practice.

I haven't taken any pics of it, I should just for purposes like this. I'll try it when it's dryer. I was wetting it more. Thanks for the help.
