I used to have a 206-RB5, and it did not "come with" smooth feet, but they ARE available for it. I'm sure Bob can fix you up if you ask.

Bad news is, those snaps at Tandy are so inconsistent, I've had the setters work just fine on one or two, and then not fit the third one basically at all! Had a tandy manager get better part of wet-cat mad a few years ago... went in, complained about that. Guy says it'll work -- yer jus doin' it wrong. So ,,, course I said "show me". In fact, IF you kin show me... I'll take 1000 of each snap AND the setters. He and his helper buddy went through about 30 of em to get maybe 5 that worked without fighten' em. Jus kepp gittin madder alla time. The SHOW was worth the price ...

'Yellow belt' is spelled S C R A P L E A T H E R I have an embossing wheel thingie, and that's a piece of scrap I used to center it. Now, it gets used to shape the loop in the back (long as it holds up). Better pic now available (show me section).

You are welcome -- and thanks for using them for exactly what they are intended for! This is the point -- a guy can get some experience, without investing a 'mint', and actually have a useful item when finished. Sewing isn't anywhere near as difficult as it's made out to be. I've seen lots of folks -- some of them just kids -- who were shown how to sew and off they went. Years ago, I bought Stohlmans book on hand sewing and the basic tools it recommends (it wasn't available in digital form back then) and went to sewing. As with anything, practice is good. But I was making good stitches in about 3 or 4 projects .. and I'm not that bright Much like anything else, there will be people who will try to convince you that what they do is "so" skilled that you could only hope to ever learn it by listening to them. The world is coated with books -- and now why-tube videos -- all on about these topics. But I have yet to see any which improved on what I found in books I bought years ago. Hey, I 'get' it... why spend $10 on a book you don't read when there's a free video about it, right? But it's not 'free' if it's taking hours of my time and - truth be told - these things have people doing more video watching than leather crafting! Better, I think, to get people the general information and let them jump in.

When you make these, you gain a good bit of strength if you stitch OVER teh top of the front pocket -- just go one or two more stitches up

Pic is pretty crude -- didn't bother too much since this thing is a LONG way from dry, much less ready to go. Full size Sig P320 :

Fiebings antique paste or acrylic stain?

Keep in mind that there is an antique FINISH and an antique STAIN... not the same. -
You're overthinking it. Take a card, trace it on heavy paper, and cut it out. Make 8 or 10 ... simple. Or, even more simple -- photograph the wallet with cards, and then use software to blur the cc info.

I deleted a way-too-long response No matter to me what a guy charges or why -- guy just tell me the price and I'll pay it or I won't. More important, though.. any call for a cobra burnisher around here? I'm buying a lathe and don't imagine I will be needing both. Hardly used -- still on the original sanding sleeve. If picking up, come get it all. If you want it shipped, it won't come with the stand (seriously, the "stand" is a piece of pipe ). CC to the FS area ... -

JLSleather replied to Boriqua's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
The RATE is fine, but the RATE is not the AMOUNT -- the 2800 sq ft pour doesn't pay the same as the 28,000 sq ft pour. I don't charge someone $5,000 for a hatchet cover because I could be making saddles. That guy should have remembered I was talking about a sidewalk, not a parking garage I wanted about a ton of good clean black dirt to raise a spot and level another spot. This requires having the dirt, and a shovel, and a wheel barrow isn't required but would be helpful. There is no speech 'fancy' enough to tell me that something any 6th grader can do in half an hour is worth the $50 he wanted. And if it WAS, I prefer to give the $50 to the 6th grader who actually did it. In the case of the sidewalk, the $700 cost of the concrete includes materials and delivery. Permit is $35, but I already had that. So, I'm not paying HIM $2100 so he can give two guys $50 each and pocket the rest. Just not smart. Plus, that's nothing more than a low-grade scam (couldn't' come up with anything unique). I'd much rather just call those same boys myself, tell 'em show up on their day off and put my sidewalk in.. and hand 'em $200 apiece, each. Pay for the concrete delivery, and leave the other $1700 in my pocket?!@! They're happy, I'm happy, and the only guy not "happy" is the guy who thinks he should get money "just because". I do not reward people for being lazy (they probably come up with other names for NOT doing what they are charging for). But, I got no problem doing it myself. BUT, I also have no problem with the next guy doing it HIMSELF as well. In fact, I might just GIVE him a pattern to do it with. In some cases, I've even sent them the leather and told 'em 'merry christmas' and have fun. IN short, asking to be paid for what I do is not the same as expecting to be paid for what I DON"T DO. -

This is why I do most things myself ... I'm not paying ANYbody $100/hour, just because "they're a business". That guy came to "estimate" my new sidewalk said $2800. Since I know that's $700 worth of concrete, and can easily be done by two guys in 3 hours (I've done it alone, so I know two guys is more than enough) - I told him to get off my lawn. Other guy said he'd bring me a load of black dirt for $50 for the dirt + $50 for the hauling, which I thought was fair. But I'm not paying him $50 to spread it, when he's going to pay some poor sucker $10 to do it, while he takes the rest. Naw.. thanks anyway,buddy... I'll take care of it myself, and give the $50 to the guy who's ACTUALLY DOING the work. In fact, usually works out where me and the guy on about "being a business" don't even up talking much at all Strange how people convince themselves that it's my responsibility to pay their overhead... But, this was about hatchets, 'n' stuff ... -

I generally don't do these, but I been known to make small projects of this type from the scrap bin. If it's during a slower time, then it may go for a sandwich from your restaurant or some appropriate bait when I see you at the fishin' hole. During busier times, folks generally understand that you either 1.) wait until the slower times, or 2.) pay the rate I would be making on the project you're taking me away from. -
YIKES.. at $22/foot, that better be some SWEET looking leather (like not all those wrinkles shown) and I would have to need it real bad! Nobody around you with a splitter? I can probably find pieces around here big enough - I'll check shortly - in dark brown and med brown, no belly leather. But it's about 9 oz.

What -- no laser ?!@#! That looks like it should work, but a second stitch line MAY or MAY NOT be an improvement depending on where it bends. I never cared for that type of thing myself.. could never figure out how to pull the mag and the gun with the same hand! Nice color! -
What Is The Way To Store Leather Hides And Leftover Leather?
JLSleather replied to dms1's topic in How Do I Do That?
I don't have a pic of it, now we've moved and don't have a "shop". You can make a rack -- like I did --- with a couple of 10' long 1x4, which are about $3 each. Cut them each in 3 pieces, about 4.5', 1.5', and 4'. Cut 'vee' notches in teh short pieces, something like this... Then line 'em' up, drive a couple of screws in the top ends, tying the three pieces together. Do the same with the other 1x4, so you have two the same, and place dowels (closet rods) in the vees, and hang your leather over the dowels. You'll have three rows as wide as the dowels (usually about 6-7 feet), high enough that the leather wont drag the floor when draped over the rods, and offset so you can see what is on each "rack" from the front. You could 'tie' em together with one more across the back, but prolly not needed. Total investment, $10 and 30 minutes. -
She doesn't want to finance it - she didn't say that, just what I got from talking with her. But it's a gift for a young boy (14) and she wants it to look nice. After talking with her a bit, I didn't even tell her what I get for those Coast Guard "charge books" It was actually ME who suggested the laser, since you take much of the labor out of the equation (seconds instead of hours of tooling). What she wants: "Envelope" style folder large enough to hold 8.5" x 11" pages, with a flap on the right side with a tuck-tite clasp. Sew the sides. THE BEST Hermann Oak leather, finish, thread, clasp, -- materials cost is $25. A guy could cut one out, burn a design (or emboss one, whatever), sew about 18" (9" x 2), and be polite to a lady from MN for 10 minutes, in an hour (ish). $75? $100? There were a couple people around here showing lasered designs, but don't remember who it was. No matter..

And - seriously - would ANYBODY "lie still" with a 150 pound dog ripping pieces off your leg? With FIVE armed cops around this guy who hasn't done anything, you STILL needed to tell the dog to "get him"?
