Looks like a pretty good option versus large presses. https://www.customshapepros.com/accucut-grandemark-2-machine If I had seen this about 10 years ago, I probably would have bought it instead of a large shop press that is at my son's place 60 miles away, not convenient at all! Steel rule dies are usually less expensive too, but may not last as long as heavier dies. Looks like there might be enough room to handle the standard dies too. These are just my impressions based on their web pages.

I have removed mold from vegtan cowhide with liquid saddle soap followed by bleaching with oxalic acid. 1 teaspoon to a pint of clean water. Whether effective for deerskin, maybe test on a small piece first.

We appreciate people not posting 3rd party hosted links as many of them disappear due to changes in hosts' policies, host going out of business, and the person who posted the photos to a 3rd party host moves, deletes, or closes their account resulting in the photos disappearing and leaving a useless post. There are many examples of that problem on this site. Here are a couple for your edification! https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/14658-basic-leather-carving-tutorial/ https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/31601-leatherman-charge-pouch/

Not much chance of being able to buy one, so looks like photocopying or scanning is likely the only way to get a copy now. Worldcat.org finds 7 copies in libraries https://www.worldcat.org/title/making-harness-a-step-by-step-guide/oclc/63175098 https://www.gettextbooks.com/isbn/9780975397206/

Please help me sharpen this curved blade
Northmount replied to NoLifeTilLeather's topic in Sharpen it!
Your knife appears to be the same as one I have, purchased from Tandy some years ago. The blade quality is low to start with and doesn't hold an edge very well. Needs touching up frequently. Once you have the blade properly profiled, don't get aggressive with touch ups after. -
There are a number of suggestions here. Reduce file sizes to about 1024 pixels wide. There are also a number of applications on the web that you can find also. Since you have lots of photos, I would suggest and application or program that will do batches of files as it will save you a lot of time. The photo above is too small to see any detail.

Northmount replied to karmazine's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I suppose that you mean grease rather than Vaseline and that this is just a quirk in translation? Another name for Vaseline is Petroleum Jelly. Not usually used as a lubricant in machinery. -
@Scottwb96 Moved your post to leather sewing machines. Here is where the machine guys usually hand out.

Been asked to make simple knife sheaths. Please help..
Northmount replied to SUP's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
@SUP I have looked up Amazon reviews on a lot of items. In many cases, there are multiple types and models of stuff all being reviewed in one category, so for the most part, the reviews are useless. -
@Ndowell82 Please provide your location and any shipping information as per the marketplace rules.

A little info on the Alberta wildfires that have been raging for the past month. Some people from a month ago have been able to return home, many still out. Newest wildfire is in the far NE at Fort Chipewyan (commonly called Fort Chip, the oldest European settlement what is now part of the Province of Alberta (incorporated 1905), during early fur trade days). Fort Chip is only accessible by air or boat this time of year. Winter by air, ice road and dog team. If you are logged in, which you had to be to post this, everything in this thread is available to you to print, copy, download. Just checked and all works. If you are logged in and still can't download the info you require, there is something wrong with your connection, router, or browser that you will need to fix.

Sewing Machines and Splitting Machinery for sale
Northmount replied to GDXSewing's topic in Old/Sold
Moved this post from announcements where it doesn't belong. Did you bother to take a moment to read the Marketplace Rules while you were there? Obviously not. Go back and read them and conform. You need to describe each machine with all accessories. You must price each machine in US$. Where are your pictures? Post them here. What about shipping? I deleted the event you posted about selling these machines as it obviously is not an event. You would probably have more effective results if you put sewing machines under sewing machines, and other equipment under leather machinery rather than lumping them together like this. -
Moved your post to leather sewing machines where the sewing machine guys hang out.
-
First off, don't post in the announcements section. Read the Marketplace rules you found in Announcements and conform. You must list a price in $US, also any shipping information like will you ship, who pays, etc. Pick the section in the Marketplace that fits your for sale item. Put it there, again paying attention to the rules. Moved your post to finished leather goods.

I can relate to that! Nice job too.
