Purchased an item from a USA website. Actually just a front for a Chinese site. Only notice I got was "we are preparing your package for shipping". After a couple weeks, tried to follow up and see if it had been shipped. I sent emails to 2 different addresses that should have resulted in a reply, but nothing. Purchased using PayPal so after a month or so, decided to file a dispute claim. There was the tracking info! So started tracking. Have 3 pages of tracking updates. Says it has been delivered. Since I use a UPS store for secure mail and deliveries, I know that it has not been delivered. It was shipped via China Post. I suspect that a number of the tracking entries are fake. But we shall see. Giving them 1 more week to see if it actually gets delivered. I'm at about the 2 month point already. So the point of this post is that shipments via China Post and attempted contacts with Chinese vendors may be problematic. Hope yours goes better.

@Ben00 as TomG says, use jpg format and follow his instructions of how to post photos. 800x600 pixels is adequate, 1280x768 is fine too. Can post around a 100 photos with those approximate dimensions.

You probably need to reduce the file sizes to meet the size restrictions here. Check out this link for helps and suggestions.

I've been using an automotive body hammer. Not polished or or buffed up. It works fine for tapping down stitching. Really, you are just trying to tap the thread down so it doesn't stand really proud above the leather. As long as the leather is not wet, it's not likely to leave impressions in the leather. It should smooth out the feed dog marks and presser foot marks. Looking at your new hammer, I would smooth it out more than what it is. I don't like the pit in the face. Some gentle work with a smoothing file should make quick work of it.

@modaddio I uploaded your photos. Please post them here rather than on 3rd party hosting sites. Many members will not download from 3rd party sites.

Cowboys and The Trappings of the Old West book
Northmount replied to hickok55's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Looks like lots cf copies of the book are available on abebooks for very reasonable price. https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&cm_sp=SearchF-_-home-_-Results&tn=Cowboys and The Trappings of the Old West -
https://tandyleather.ca/products/poundo-boards?_pos=1&_sid=b6b8e5059&_ss=r MDF very smooth, but ... may contain metal fragments. Have seen sparks fly occasionally when cutting a 3/4" sheet. So would not use it for anything where a sharpened edge is pressed or hammered into an MDF board.

The sentence end period was included in the URL. Fixed it. So just a comment to others that come across this post, when posting URLs, don't include sentence end periods in the URL. This forum's software likes to include extra characters.

It's there under edit for me all the time. May not be there for you all the time, besides your limited time window for editing. The icon is light gray.

Scroll all the way to the bottom, to the uploaded photos, click the garbage can on the lower right of the photo.

@HughMungis Moved your post to "wanted" Help wanted requires every post to be moderated and approved. For members, this is a better location for this request.
-
@Evert Moved your post to leather sewing machines, This is where the sewing machine guys hang out and are much more likely to get a timely response from someone here.

You can add that to your profile. Always nice to know the area a person is from.

Click the link for ebay and you can check it out yourself. It is not the OP's machine as he says above.

Pictures in other threads/posts don't stop you from adding pictures in a new thread. Reduce the size to fit the restrictions. Watch the on screen prompts to ensure the picture is uploaded and saved/posted in the post.
