  1. Welcome back Pat, I dig the Reaper, the other pieces are nice as well.
  2. I like them all good clean work. Although I agree with you the one with the belt would be unsafe to wear at the Small of Back position when the wearer draws the pistol the muzzle will cross the Torso I would not have made that holster for that individual unless I knew his or her skill level personally. Ironically the ones you pictured in photos1,2, and 4 can be worn IWB, small of back, RIGHT HAND safely although not having an angle on the clip will pose an issue with the position of the pistola.
  3. Now That's What I Call swivel knife practice!
  4. I like it! Although I no longer partake of such libations, if one was so inclined that same holster/case could be lengthened and made into a nice cell phone case! Good job!
  5. Yea dunno the spelling but when I did my 3rd motorcycle seat it happened to me after 13 hrs of carving a panhead motor I completely lost all sense of sanity I tried removing it with saddle soap to no avail so then turned to Oxcalic acid solution that did the trick. I know it comes from the hide itself cause the double shoulder I took the seat from was problematic with all other projects as well. I have not purchased from that supplier again and have not had the same problem. I know the OP was looking to recreate a white antiquing effect personally after my experience with this spoo/poo whatever I think it's ugly! To me it hides the tooling too much!
  6. I for one have no complex and I would love to see how you accomplish this is it as simple as making one part of the pancake smaller in relation to the other to achieve the Curve if so I may be able to work that out for myself! If not and there is some sort of magic pixie dust you sprinkle on the leather to get it to shrink please tell us so that we may run out and go searching for some LOL! Seriously though I'm sure the collective would like to see how you accomplished it and would greatly appreciate it if you took the time out to do it!
  7. Spue, poo whatever lol!! Yea easily re created with white acrylics just use quality stuff! You're correct!!
  8. Hmmm...i would chance to say that, that just looks like salt stain to me...something that occurs when there is a chem reaction in the leather and or it has been wet...I could be wrong and probably am but I've had that same effect on a couple of pieces but on darker dye jobs had to rub, re-dye, and oil the fire out of it to get it gone. Even after that the only thing to rid the leather of the salt stain was oxcylic acid.
  9. As far as i know it's very similar to resolene (acrylic) I also put a coat of Montana pitch blend (rubbed in by hand) on every thing i make.
  10. Very nice clean work on both good job sir
  11. You can laugh but I've tried nearly everything. when I first started I got a great piece of professional insight from @katsass and have been using it since. NOTHING and I mean nothing beats old age and treachery Lol!!! I mean experience!!!
  12. Thanks hers the key to my success! Empty Montana markers + Fiebings USMC black (recently up sized marker to large)
  13. Yep on resist.. three coats of my top coat, apply acrylics like antiquing gel, wipe off excess, inspect, add more if needed, wipe again with a ever so slightly wet paper towel, let dry, top coat again three coats. Of course don't forget to oil after buffing dye, and prior to applying top coat. (Super secret top coat formula= 50/50 mop n glo + h2o) shhhh no telling...;)
  14. Thanks it worked out good! Yup, click down and dirty. Yeah the letters of laid out like usual, then carved, then I do the base color dye then I just antique depending on what color I want the letters to be I use liquitex acrylic paints. Not hard at all.
  15. I just use my regular top coat on the flesh side of anything that needs to be sealed to include the cuff that my little boy just made recently posted. As of right now to date I have had no allergic reactions from anyone (knocking on wood)!!!!!!
  16. Here is a plain Jane belt that I did for a guy at work mr. Smith is a very big dude, this belt is 53 inches in length. A big thank you to @WRLC for helping me out with the strap and patterns.

    Draw gauge

Yup words of wisdom not to be taken lightly from either him nor you thanks again I may reconsider it! Although running the blade upside down with the handle up seems to be just as safe as clipping the tip, who knows! Thanks for the responses
  18. Living the dream! All the best wishes to you!!

    Draw gauge

Thanks for the suggestion but rather than molest the blade I just run it point down when I'm feeling funky about it plus it allows me to use the majority of the blade without having to strop. I rarely use it more than once or twice in a month!
  20. No harm no foul!

    Draw gauge

I paid $12 for it. Wasn't looking for a collectable item just a functional one. Once the Osbourne blade visited my Japanese hones it was good to go and now just a couple of passes on my canvas strop and it's perfect.
  22. PERFECT!! THANKS SO VERY MUCH!!!
