  1. I like both pieces that 101st Airborne holster tells me you might be local to me where are you located?
  2. Welcome. 1. Better pix front, back edges? 2. Was this a Tandy Leather kit sheath? If it was you did a good job making it shine. 3. You're tooling looks very well executed. I personally would not have chosen to use white for the letters on any item that may see hard use. 4. You should have shown a picture of the blade that this work is for it opens the doors too many questions if you do not. I'm sure there are many of us that would like to know if this sheath is made to sit in the cabinet or actually be used. 5. I personally do not care to use whip stitching or lacing on any item that will see hard use. 6. Also as stated above by someone else there is no visible welt between the layers of leather this is a very big No-No coupled with that whip Stitch lacing. 7. I understand the necessity of making the holes for the lacing as big as you did because of the double pass-through of said lacing this will also lead to quick deterioration of that area if not treated correctly. Take everything that I have posted with a grain of salt and no insult, the work looks great in my opinion for a shelf sheath again you asked for opinions I gave mine we all know how opinions are everyone has one etc etc!
  3. Always such a tease on what you're making but it's always been worth the wait and it's looking great so far!
  4. I for one can say she will moved to tears that is beautiful work young sir! Keep it up!!!
  5. Hmmmm let's put a 4 figure Kimber in that lol!! For blue guns maybe but this dude will stick to vacuum molding my hide, haven't had any issues to date and that's been in every thing from motorcycle tanks to Zippo lighters do those with gum rubber and 20 ton!
  6. Look for Gomph-Hackbarth
  7. Again thank you both for the nice words!
  8. Soooo... where did you acquire them? What name brand are they? And I am sure they are probably from China? EBay Maybe?
  9. Thanks for the kind words!
  10. Thanks he's been wearing it every day since he made it!
  11. Get a paper towel and wipe the moon and star with some denatured alcohol! Occasionally I get a cranial flatulation as well!! The denatured alcohol will take any excess oil from those areas! As stated above you should be fine.
  12. THANKS for the kind words both of you!
  13. Here's the latest of my bench the customer was spastically happy lol!
  14. Paashe VL are good cheaper brushes as with any tool that has "precision" parts routine maintenance is your friend. I used paashe for 3 weeks back in the late 90's then I tried an Iwata HPC+ and never looked back. Iwata also makes many siphon feed that would fit "our" uses.
  15. Thanks for the info, you answered my question
  16. Oxcalic acid solution will get it gone.
  17. Nice work I'm interested in how you got your close your tab the way that it is with the hidden stitches on the outside and how you stitched in the coin pouch without going through your closure tab how about a close-up shot of that area nice work by the way
  18. Hmm. Still have an idea for my makers mark 2.0 and @ 3/4" that would be ideal size I may be in touch soon to bounce ideas your way and get a quote if possible.
  19. What is the smallest Maker's Mark you have done in Delrin
  20. That is fancy!! What are the dimensions?
  21. Ok had to chime in save the empty disposable cup. Cut out the bottom, make 2 vertical cuts 1/2" apart all the way from top to bottom and viola!! Instant pattern!!
  22. I did make them myself but no I will not reproduce them to sell.
  23. My .02 cents wood or Delrin for the burnisher itself the way it's spun is up to you as @JLSleather says 600 rpm is ideal with wood, for me at 1750rpm SS and Delrin have worked flawlessly. Motor wise whatever your wallet can take and your bench support. I personally would rather have a horizontal mount motor but mine is vertical and was free here's a pic or 2 the 3rd shows the burnisher. 1" holster special and 2" everything else.
  24. I have had the exact same thing happen. The problem in my case was the amount of time the vinegroon was allowed to set on the leather. Keep in mind also that it works on a chem reaction with the tanins in the leather my 2 fixes= soak longer. And just do not use it. Not worth the worry...fiebings USMC black or nothing....you can also wipe the holster with denatured alcohol allow to dry and reapply the vinegroon heavily and allow it to work longer on the tannins. But for all that trouble you may as well just wipe it with denatured alcohol coat it with a good alcohol-based leather dye such as what I mentioned then top coat it again. Me and vinegaroon do not play well anymore plus it just stinks.
