  1. The tools will not imprint as well on a soft backing. Also putting up a pic of the leather will help us see what kind of leather you are working with. Some leathers are not good for stamping on.
  2. Great a piece of granite or marble. It will make a BIG difference!
  3. Let me see if I can do a pic of a recent project and I will try to explain it In the bottom right of the reply area, there is a tab with "more reply options" click on that and then click "add file" and it will allow you to post a picture
  4. The plastic on top will amplify the noise, pound directly on top of the granite. The thickness might have something to do with it but it could also be the type of leather. Might look up "casing leather" post to help understand the casing technique. I use a folded towel under my granite to dampen noise.......between that and my guns, the neighbors don't complain much!
  5. Can you post a picture of the leather in question? Include the edge in the pic. Are you "casing" the leather? It needs this moisture to soften it and allow for easier tooling. Hope this helps Mike
  6. very nice............I want a lacemaster....wish I could find a used one!!
  7. Tandy Leather has some free patterns on their website................just type "free" in the search bar
  8. I have not seen or used one. However the literature says will work on 12 volt with an inverter. Will also, as stated in their literature, see 9/10 of an inch thick of leather.
  9. I would call them..........their website doesn't have all their stuff on it. 1-888-803-3030 They have knowledgeable people there and will help you get what you need
  10. I used to have a similar machine to the Torchmate. Haven't thought about using the CNC program (I still have that). gives me ideas though.
  11. I saw the one Ken made.........it is a beauty!!
  12. Can you post pictures of the damage? It might help reap some solutions better
  13. I knew I should have gone to Jake's house for Turkey day!!! I am thankful for my daughter and my Grandchild that is yet to be born. Also for all the friends I have met on here and the inspiration they give freely. And lastly, but not least, to my ex-wife, who will in due time become my wife again. We are rekindling the romance we once had and BTW will hopefully never lose again. Mike
  14. Mine is a swivel knife blade that I got from Sheridan Leather Outfitters. I think it was 25 bucks. They also have the BK beader blades for the same price Barry sells his for so you could get both and make sure they match. The push beveler was a little out of my price range...I think it was like 55.00 from BK. I have one knife with the bead blade and another with the beveler blade in it so I don't have to change it every time......works for me! The one I use is a #3 beveler blade from Kutter and the matching beader blade
  15. Here is a pic of the blades. The first one (from the bottom up) is just the beader blade. The second one is the beader blade with the burnisher blade. The third one (top) is just the burnish blade.
  16. nice work...........practice your decorative cuts on scrap till you get comfortable and then do them
  17. Hey Bill.......................I got something to sell you....................lol Just kidding my friend.. I hate that too.. BTW did you ever get that pattern finished for the horse? Mike
  18. I am so excited...............I just ordered my new Bobtail round knife from GrayCloud designs....... I had an opportunity to use one when I went and spent time with Chan Geer a few months ago.....It was so easy to use and I didn't have the problem of digging into the cutting board. I can't wait to get it as it should be here in time for Xmas!!! :yeah:
  19. And it is hunting season...........I financed his last trip when I bought tools there.......lol
