  1. My guess is that a liner would make it thicker and stiffer. Making it harder to use. Also if it is a production item it could be a cost factor, both in material and labor.
  2. Looks nice....I also think that brown thread is the way to go.................but what do I know??
  3. Nice video Chief, now all you need is a bikini model.................just kidding!
  4. That would be another reason......wet dye will smear. I also remember several suggestions to let it dry then buff till no dye comes off before proceding with the next step. That way the dye won't smear
  5. I would also throw the suggestion out to practice more with swivel knife cuts. Looks like the knife was dull and dragging. A good stropping and practice will fix that. Mike
  6. I have had that happen when the clear-lac didnt dry enough before antiquing. May or not be the cause.
  7. They look good and the price is great............unfortunately I already have these 2 but I am sure someone will take them. They are good tools! Mike
  8. As Chan Geer taught me.................It was a learning experience, not a mistake!!
  9. Love it all,,,,,,,bike and bags
  10. Springfield leather ships just about anywhere. I think Panhandle Leather and others will too.
  11. I hope to make some soon. I got some HO leather that's just crying to be cut. Hope mine turns out half as good as the one here.
  12. I can gladly say that Bill is a relatively new "friend" of mine and I can't wait till we can get together and learn stuff from each other. Congrays on the nomination Bill. I know you will make a great ambassador!! Mike
  13. There is also an Al Stohlman book on making containers like this.
  14. There are several glues you can use. Rubber cement is one and I have a tube of gorilla super glue I sometimes use. Contact cement would also work as you won't want it to move after you glue it and prior to sewing. I am sure others will chime in also.
  15. I went and spent a day with Chan Geer a couple of months ago. It was nice and inspirational. Wish I would have had more time. I would like to mentor with other workers too when I can.
  16. I will go with the crowd............but only cause I think Chancey begs so nicely!!\
  17. I would suggest thicker thread on the wallet also. And a stitching wheel or a fork would help with spacing. Just my penny's worth!!
  18. Now if they would offer better leather.......................................just saying!!
  19. Springfield has Herman Oak and is wonderful, I get the "B' sides as they are better quality. I am sure there are others but I like the service Springfield has the most. just my 2 cents worth!!
  20. they make a 3 phase to 220 converter that might work
  21. I ordered from Springfield and got my order in 3 days...........and I am in Texas
  22. forums.gunboard,com/showthread.php?151531-f-s-don-hume-s-w-n-frame-jordan-style-border-patrol-holster try this link
  23. The only problem I see with buying top quality tools is that once you start using them, you see how much better work they produce, and them you just gotta have more and more...... I went to Sheridan and stopped in Barry King's shop..................left with some tools and a $500.00 hole in my pocket!! But I ain't complaining.......they are worth every penny!! Just my 2 cents worth........cause that's all I had left!!
