  1. Try a different needles system, maybe 135x17 and adjust the needles bar accordingly. I have setup a couple of machines with 135x17 needles, f.i. Singer 17, Pfaff 145, Singer 96K. And I´m just refurbishing a Singer 34K S.V. 5 post bed machine and if possible I will set it up to 135x17 as well. I´m using 135x17 needles when ever possible. Advantage is you don´t have to stock different needles system in various sizes and tips.
  2. Best way to find out is comparing part numbers + parts lists. 29K´s have a lot of subclasses and some just have minor differences. I would assume that most 29K71 parts will work for the 29K58 as well but cannot promise. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=64040&p=428550
  3. I absolutely agree!!!! Lots of progress today - cleaned all the parts and painted most of them but I left some unpainted just for optical reasons (I like it). Hell, this thing has a million parts and screws. I made some chronological mistakes while assembling everything but finally everything fits together and machines spins nice and smooth but yet I have not sewn with it. I still have some work with it. Paint job still looks a bit strange in the pictures - its actually more olive than green. Some pictures some more
  4. Sure! My favorite examples are: Singer 29K71 needle bar 25 GBP in the UK - thats about $38 https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/82031-NEEDLE-BAR-COMPLETE-SINGER-29K-71 Singer 29K71 shuttle carrier for 25.40 GBP in the UK - thats about $38.60 https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/82177%3dCA29-8605-SHUTTLE-CARRIER-SINGER-29K-TOWA Adler 30-1 needle bar for Adler 30-1 321.73€ Germany - thats about $361 http://www.wdn.de/artinfo.php?artnr=A%20%2013827 Adler 30-1 shuttle carrier for 265.24€ in Germany - thats about $297.50 http://www.wdn.de/artinfo.php?artnr=A%20%2015246 The Adler prices for spare parts are ridicules! Keep in mind that the 29-4 (w/o K suffix) is an US made machine and is for sure several decades old and not all parts from the more modern 29K71 will fir for the older 29-4 or 29K4 I´d recommend a 29K patcher in the 60´s or 70´s sub class but these are for sure harder to find. You for sure can find many threads about Singer and Adler patchers here in the forum - basically the stitch length is an good indicator for how worn a machine is. When new they produce 5 stitches per inch (Singer 29K and Adler 30). But I would not buy a patcher when the produce more than 6 or 6.5 stitches per inch except you can live with these short stitches.
  5. agree, I would not buy it when it is not fully functional. Almost impossible to find parts. If you are a user and not a collector I´d rather buy an Adler or Singer patcher. Personalyl I´d prefer a Singer patcher because a lot of parts are available (but depends on the model) and Adler parts are extremly expensive.
  6. One of the nicest Colibri patchers I ever have seen - still in original unrestored condition. http://www.ebay.de/itm/262073915760 Some "stolen" pictures for the records
  7. Dürkopp made their own patcher like the Class 17 + Class 18. They are totally different compared with the Adler 30. Pictures would help to ID your machine
  8. I have a Mazda car - are parts available? How can we know without knowing what kind of Dürkopp machine you are talking about - at least one good picture would help (maybe). The ability to sew leather means nothing - all sewing machines can sew leather. Without any further information no one can help you.
  9. I´m not hand sewing but have CT issues in both wrists. What helped me are cortisone in injections directly into the writs every 3 - 6 month depending on if I have issues or not. So it was not a therapy but the injections last for at least 3 month (in my case) I know sometime cortisone is considered as "bad" but as alway it depends on the dose. For some reasons it became better the last few month but I still feel it when I do a lot of handwork (in general). I haven't´s had injections at least for 10 month. The "stuff" is called DIPROSONE DEPOT and comes in 1ml ampules. Don´t know if you have the same stuff in the US but I´m sure you have something similar. And believe it or not even my pollinosis became better during the season.
  10. or put a smaller pulley on the winder
  11. Nice idea again but how do you wind the bobbins? Does the winder fit on the small board?
  12. Well, not really "the" holy grale but when setup well these are rock solid machiens that will last for decades. The 111W155 has no reverse by the way
  13. Disassembled the head yesterday now I need a freekin squared wrench for removing the shaft and cam - some pictures
  14. agree - I guess the Consew 206 is about the same machine - just for comparison. $350 sounds quite good if just the timing is off.
  15. I´d buy the Juki and install a servo motor because of the availability of accessories and parts for the 563. You can use the Singer 111 feet which are quite cheap and a lot of other Singer 111 parts fit this machine as well. Pfaff accessories are more expensive. I´d also rather buy the Juki 563 than the consew 206 because I like the drop in bobbin of the 563. Just my 2 cents
  16. Just for the case someone is interested. They are not mine I just stumbled over the auction. http://www.ebay.de/itm/205-alte-Leder-Werkzeuge-30-3-Kg-Schuhmacher-Schuster-Sattler-Riemer-Taschner-/331666394860?
  17. This was when my bearing came off - dont forget to loosen the shaft set screw on the iside.
  18. I once was in the same situation. The bearing was so unbelievable tight. I have used a heavy screw driver first and and then a boasting chisel. Left some ugly marks but at least it worked.
  19. You want to remove just the bobbin not the whole shuttle, right? Put a screw driver between the shuttle housing and the small tab left of the housing then push the screw driver carefully to the left.
  20. Tinkering Uwe - cool idea again! Now everybody is waiting for the parts list / shopping list. I´m not an electronic buff but maybe with the Version 2.0 you can add a filler tab that pops back when the bobbin is full and a micro switch to stop the motor Just an idea I have no clue if and how it could work but since you are doing a lot of tinkering why not.
  21. Need some $ for new projects - Price reduced: shuttle + bobbin as described above $180 + shipping
  22. Need some $ for new projects - Prices reduced: all presser feet $40 each all needles guide $60 each shuttle box cover $40 all prices w/o shipping - I take Paypal - shipping will be by registered Airmail trackabel through the USPS website (for shipping to the USA) or all parts together (4 feet + 2 Guides + shuttle box cover) $300 including fully insured worldwide Airmail.
  23. maybe it is factory set to this stitch length - I´d try to disassemble the adjustment knob maybe there is just something clogged up. I´d also remove the plate left of the knob and check if something blocks the knob.
  24. holy craps - this really is something I´d like to own but I´m on the other side of the pond - too bad!!!
  25. I underestimated the weight - I just put them all in a carton and on a scale and it weights 17.5 Kg / approx. 39 pounds. So DHL shipping for the whole lot would be $110 to the US and Canada, approx 45€ inside the EU, approx 60€ Europe (non EU countries). I have checked what a pair of heels costs on Ebay and they range between $3 for small and up to $8 for larger heel pairs. Most of them are larger size and can be cut or grind down if too large (I guess). I estimate 250 - 300 heels / 125 - 150 pairs - maybe more. So how about $60 for the entire lot + shipping? Could be a good deal if one can use them or probably resell them when you assume a price of $4 for a pair. A stack is about 15 heels so when you guesstimate then there are more than 300 heels I´d say - check the 1st picture - this shows the entire lot + I have some loose I will trow in.
